SPAM app!!! How do I get rid of xapush.com

Wednesday 14th of September 2011 / android.net
I think I've picked up some spam  I've rec'd my second notification from an unknown app. The first showed up as a green plus sign in my notification bar. I don't remember what the notification was but in parenthesis was the following: (optout at xapush.com). I cleared it and went on about my business. Yesterday a new notification showed up, a white star with a red dot in the middle. When I expand my notifications it says this: #1 App - Camera Upgrade! Enhance your Android's Camera! (optout at xapush.com). I know this is crap. I cannot get to this alleged website on a computer and I won't do it with my phone. I've gone to my settings to check what apps are currently running and I can find nothing that this could be.:confused:Obviously I've downloaded something malicious and I'm hesitant to download anything else for fear my phone has been compromised. Any suggestions? The phone is a Samsung Captivate.

How to successfully uninstall/optout of Xapush ads??

Sunday 11th of September 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
How to successfully uninstall/optout of Xapush ads?? Hi, all, I am getting this Xapush push ads for various apps. showing up in my status bar, toward the top my screen. There is a [HL]red[/HL] star and then an advertisement about a particular app....along with the words "optout at Xapush.com" I believe I first started seeing the ads after installing the "how stuff works" app., which said it needed to also have AirPush installed, in order to work effectively. I wetn to Xapush.com and it looks like the site is asking for my phones "IMIE" # in order to officially opt out. However, I don't want to provide that information, as I don't trust Xapush. Anyone else found a remedy to this ad-pushing issue and how did you solve it ?

xapush.com opt-out?

Friday 11th of November 2011 / androidforums.com
Apparently I downloaded an app that is sending me ads in my notification bar and it says "optout at xapush.com." Once there, the "ad pushing" site wants my phones IMEI. Is this safe...should I do it? Any other ideas about how to get the ads to stop? How can I figure out which app brought this along? TIA!

I only get apps from the android and Amazon markets. Anyone else have this annoying issue? Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk

How do I Opt Out of xapush ads on a Kindle Fire?

Wednesday 12th of June 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I want to opt out of the ads on my Kindle Fire from xapush.com - saw the previous thread, but Google Play doesn't support Kindle devices. Therefore, I am not able to download the opt out app that would take care of this problem. Any ideas?

orange star notification in status bar

Sunday 16th of June 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi everyone, I have been seeing an orange star with a white outline in my notifications. It seems to be advertising apps at random. The first ad was for an android antivirus. At first i thought that with was an app that Samsung was recommended to me, so i downloaded it. Got scared, and deleted it before actually installing it. Since then, maybe every 2 days this orange star comes up. I usually just clear the notification without actually opening it. Right now its on my phone advertising "free game HELLFIRE! Escape to hell, Optout:xapush.com, ad b...." (i'm scared to click on it, so i have no more info). I have Avast! on my phone and it has found nothing. Please help!
