Why is Android laggy compared with iOS?

Wednesday 21st of November 2012 / androidforums.com
I don't get It and it makes me sick. Kindle fire vs. apple ipad 3. Similar performance specs, both dual core CPUs, but when I find myself typing lengthy posts on the fire, it becomes so frustrating as the OS fails to keep up with my 80+ WPM touch-type rate that it lags or produces often misspelled results or poor performance. Or flat out crashes with a force close. I find myself in such instances whipping my ipad from the closet finding the response in comparison rather snappy, my only question is, why? Why is android, even today, with today's specs so slow?Even the best web browser for android seems to take ages to load androidforums, when mobile safari comes up instantly.

Why is my android so slow? - Page 2

Do a hard reset, the update it to the new gingerbread, other than a few cosmetic tweaks, they only fix gaming issues. Don't fix the real problems, but your gaming will be better.

At my wits end. Why is my LG Esteem so slow compared to Wife's stock Esteem?

Tuesday 27th of November 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi there, Long time lurker & Android user, first time poster to this forum. BackgroundI bought my Esteem in December of 2011. My wife bought hers in January of 2012. Right from the start, my Esteem was having the random reboot problem, while my wife's was not. The ProblemAs a result of my random reboots (and because I'm a nerd), I rooted my Esteem and have been playing around with various roms, kernels, and Overclocking with SetCPU over the past year. The problem is, my wife's bone stock phone is still noticeably faster than mine. It's not faster in benchmark tests as my overclocked processor kills hers, but it's faster in the to day usage. For example, with both phones on a fresh reboot, and doing the best I can to touch the "contacts" button on both phones at the exact same time, her's comes up instantly with no delay, while mine has a very slight lag to it. It's not much but it's noticeable in the day to day usage. I can only describe it as her phone registers the touch and opens the app instantly, while mine registers the touch, **thinks for 50 milliseconds** then o

internet VERY SLOW

Monday 05th of March 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
hey guys, im a proud owner of a new galaxy note, im still in the process of getting used to Android from my apple iphone (i owned all generations of the iphone up to the 4) i am content with the phone, however is anyone else noticing VERY SLOW internet loading times? i mean come on, i havent been so frustrated with loading times on any of my devices (laptop, iphone, ipad, etcetc) for the past couple years. i know the specs of this phone is supposed to be better than an iphone 4, however why is the internet so slow? i doubt it is my internet connection because i compared and made couple webpage loading times with my iphone 4. (I am running the tests on my wifi) the green loading bar takes forever to reach the max. i say estimated about 5~15 seconds more than my iphone when i ran a few tests. also, do you guys notice the 4g and the 4g LTE signal on your phones? im not too sure, but i dont think i have seen a "4g LTE" signal as of yet.. Please reply to this thread as i would like to know how others are dealing with their phones!im hoping that my phone is a defected one so tha

Android Forums - View Single Post - Why is Tethering So Slow?

Sunday 23rd of September 2012 / androidforums.com
Dear Contributors,The Original Questions:Has anyone experienced internet speed with PDAnet being maple syrup slow?Yes, PDANet can be very slow (for a variety of technical reasons). Are there ways to increase 3G/tethering speed?Yes - Here is my package of measures that increased my overall transfer speed.(ALL TESTED)1. Boost the radio signal you receive. Place phone in an aluminium pot (16cm diameter minimum). This measure was discovered by an engineer. The metal pot acts like a satellite dish amplifying the radio waves the phone receives. You will also receive a more consistent signal.2. Use PDANet Version 3.50 with Google DNS ticked in PDANet settings. The installation process is a 2 phase operation. Install Phone side app. Install PC side app. PDANet official website claims: "PDANet is capable of handling download speed of well above 35Mbps (35000kbps) over USB and is the fastest tethering software available for Android." (I have never seen transfer speeds this high on my connection). 3. Install an android app on your phone called Network Signal Speed Booster (made by McSt

file transfer - Why is sftp (client) so slow on Android?

Wednesday 17th of October 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
I've encountered this across numerous Android clients on several devices and I don't understand it. Why is sftp so slow? For instance, transferring a single large file from my laptop vs my Nexus 7 on my home LAN I am getting a factor of 20 difference in speeds. The Nexus 7 is getting about 250-300KBps while the laptop is getting 5-6MBps. The server (debian sid) is connecting to a 802.11n router via a wired connection and both wireless devices are supposedly n (though the laptop reports 150Mbps connection and the Nexus 7 only 65Mbps. I know there's overhead and interference and whatnot but this just doesn't make sense to me. Is there some trick here or some way to speed up the transfer? I'm even willing to switch protocols if it would help. This problem has been floating around for a while but I haven't seen any constructive solution. The fact that >4.0 forces MTP which still has flaky linux support makes this issue all the more pressing.

Why is wi-fi so slow on mobile devices?

Monday 05th of September 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
I recently changed carriers, and in the process went from a Windows Mobile smart phone to an Android. I've been intending to keep the WinMo device around to use on wi-fi networks as available; among other things, this device has a better camera than my new phone. I also thought it made sense just to have a spare device just in case. If I ever have to have my new device replaced or repaired, at least I could still use the old one to check my email or listen to radio streams via my household router. Or so I thought. Because whenever I try to access anything on the Internet this way, I can't do it. The progress bar just hangs...and hangs...and hangs...and eventually times out. I thought that might be happening because there's some blocking mechanism that prevents the device from accessing any kind of network, unless there's a currently active contract with the carrier. I really don't understand yet what "locking" is--is this it? But regardless: when I tried to do the same thing with my new Optimus, I got the same thing--nothing would load, at least not within a reasonable amo
