Anybody know where the clockwork recovery image is stored?

Wednesday 09th of June 2010 / androidforums.com
So, Im having an interesting problem. About a month ago installed the clockwork rom manager and installed the clockwork recovery to use the app. I could never get the recovery to show up so I deleted the app. I also deleted everything on my sdcard having to do with it. Since then I have used the RA recovery and have made and restored nandroid backups with know problem.Yesterday I went to make a nandroid backup and the clockwork recovery came up for the first time ever. when I went to restore a nandroid it said I didn't have any cause i never made any with clockwork and it must not look in the same folder. Im assuming there must still be a file somewhere to delete but I cant find out. And I can't restore any of my backups. Im using white widow 3.1 and haven't had this issue before with this rom. Any advice would be appreciated.

Difference between update.zip, nandroid restore, ROM.tgz, and sbf

Tuesday 09th of March 2010 / droidforums.net
I'm pretty sure I get the jist of it, but want confirmation.Update.zip allows you to update system files (like installing/upgrading a custom rom) without damaging any user data/apps/settings.Nandroid restore wipes all user data while installing a custom rom. Its basically a backup of the dev's device.Rom.tgz... well, tbh, idk wth this is or does.Sbf allows you to install roms while wiping all data, even group 42 which is where the motorola M is stored for pre boot animation image.Someone care to confirm, correct, and/or fill in the missing pieces for me?

what does 'factory reset' do?

Tuesday 12th of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi all,I have searched but couldn't find any info. 1) what exactly happened when we do 'factory reset'? What gets restored? In other words, if I removed/deleted some bloatware from /system/apps on a rooted phone and if I do a 'factory reset',will those come back just as the phone was brand new? Where is this 'backup' stored? 2) Instead of installing a custom recovery and do a NANDROID backup, will it be the same if I do a bunch of 'dd' commands directly from the partitions? Something like the following for a Note 2? dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/storage/extSdCard/efs.img bs=4096 (backup /efs) dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 of=/storage/extSdCard/system.img bs=4096 (backup /system) ...etc..Thank you.mike
