Need help to flash Videotron N1 to 2.2.2 (getting error)
Tuesday 25th of January 2011
Okay, I'm a complete noob when it comes to N1 flashing, but I have asked for the help of kusanagi and got some good info to get me started.I basically want to flash my N1 to get rid of Videotron's Custom ROM completely and use the stock Nexus One ROM and update it to the latest available update [Android 2.2.2 to begin with, then perhaps Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread)]... I don't want to use a custom ROM with enhanced stuff in it, I want vanilla stock with latest patch applied, that's it.What I have done so far (on Windows 7 x64):- I have managed to root my N1 using Universal Androot (used nothing else)- I have installed the Android SDK (installed all packages and it already includes fastboot) and got my USB Driver to work.- I have downloaded the following zip: Nexus One FRG83 system image and saved it where fastboot.exe is located (in [sdk path] ools)- I have read this Video: Flashing Froyo onto Your Nexus One ... but some parts only confused me.- I have read this Flash the System Image Package to the Device and figured that's what I needed to do, so after taking note of my contact i
Android SDK Windows based guide

I have noticed a few people who are new There are 2 files for you to download, an .exe and a .zipAndroid SDK | Android Developersthe .exe is a full install but for beginners, the .zip is easier to use, and has all commands in one place. When you install you will have commands like adb and fastboot in different folders which i found out the hard way when i upgraded to r121. When you download the .zip file, you will have android-sdk_r12-windows.zip2. you need to extract the filewhen you do this, you will have a folder named android-sdk_r12-windows3. inside this folder is the folder named android-sdk-windows a. for ease of use rename this folder android4. Move the android folder to the root of your main hard drive (not in any folders)5. inside this folder is a folder called tools, this is where ALL commands you will need are located. To test this, connect phone to computeropen command prompt1. your command prompt should open up and say:c:users(username)> with a blinking cursor2. type cd c:android ools3. your command prompt should now read c:android ools>4. type adb shellif yo
Fastboot - where is it and how do you make it work?
Monday 30th of August 2010
I have heard many many many references to 'fastboot' it's obvious it's on the phone, but every time I look at a rooting or firmware update guide, it seems to imply that it's part of the android sdk. 'just go into the tools folder then run fastboot command filename.ext'But fastboot.exe, fastboot.com, fastboot.bat, fastboot.msi. any thing that would cause a command called 'fastboot' to run out of that folder does not exist in the android sdk.So where is fastboot coming from on the pc side of things. where specifically is this component or program gained? should it be in the sdk? I've installed every release of it, it's not in any of them. This lack of 'fastboot' on the pc side of things is the only thing that's stopping me at this point.Where is this fabled, and seemingly non existent fastboot application?
