Broken seal packaging

Tuesday 04th of December 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Just got my Nexus 10 in today and noticed one of the two seals is broken and the other is about to rip. Everything is in the box that I could see, but not sure if the tablet itself had not been tampered or swapped out. Called Google and they said I could either send it back for a replacement or get a refund. They believe the box hasn't been tampered with and have received others calls with the same issue. This is disappointing for my very first Google Nexus purchase and a big hassle to get it shipped back and wait for a replacement. What do you guys think, should I keep it or replace it? I turned it on and everything seems ok so far. Anyone else have this issue with the broken seals? Other forums are reporting this as well, seems like it's not an isolated case.

What to do with a broken tablet.

Tuesday 05th of March 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
The screen on my original Nexus 7 was broken after a hefty tumble. Considering the cost of repair and shipping time, I opted to buy a new model. So now I'm left wondering what, if anything, I can do with a tablet that no longer has a touch-capable screen. The screen still works, visually, and everything else is solid. I know I can't get any kind of reliable video-out out of it, which shot down my initial hopes, but is there any use for a broken tablet outside of scrapping it for parts or carrying around a massive 14gb flash drive?

build costum Tablet/ repair broken tablet

Wednesday 08th of February 2012 / androidtablets.net
hey,i wont talk to much about why would i want to do that, and how much i'd put into that, just asking questions and expecting some answers... thanks!i want to BUY a broken tablet, and fix it..the first plan was to buy a motherboard with an integrated processor (but processors like ARM are not in stores, they are only sold in high quantitys from high-tech companys like Marvel), or take a motherboard and solder a processor into it (again, no proper processors were found for public purchase, only factory-grade..)so my dad had a briliant idea of buying a broken tablet for cheap and fix it!please notice: i have NEVER installed a ROM, and i dont have lots of knowledge of electronics like a expert who studied the subject for 15 years, but i do know some basics and my mom works for a high-tech comapny (she knows more then me about electronics and such..)any way, here are some questions, and i know i will have more questions later:1.one described hes tablt having a "white screen of death".. i have never heared of that, but if i delete (format) what ever is on the hard drive and ins

Can't Shut down my new MID 729B tablet!

Wednesday 06th of March 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey guys, so I just bought this tablet... Specs are 7'' Google android MID 729B Kernel 3.0.8 Ice cream sandwich (no idea what that means) android version 4.0.3. For the first day or so, it worked great. I could use the power button to turn the screen off (without shutting down the device), and everything was dandy (besides the fact that the instruction manual is a POS and was obviously written by someone with broken English. ANYWAYS, yesterday it started this thing where it won't turn off the screen, and if I touch the power button at all the menu for shutting it down/restarting pops up. No matter what I do after that, it reboots. I've asked it to shut down, reboot, and clicked the back button, but it restarts every single time. Also, if I just leave the tablet be and the screen goes to sleep on it's own, I cannot just wake it up by short-pressing the power button, as you are supposed to. It will show the "unlock" screen, and, you guessed it, REBOOT! I'm starting to think I've really gotten what I paid for, as this was a very cheap tablet. Does anyone know what to do about

Not able to do Recovery from Microsd

Saturday 18th of June 2011 / androidtablets.net
My USB port is not working (probably broken) and I cannot connect to a PC. I am stuck in a recovery boot loop (CWM .8), and I have been consistently trying to start it all over again with the recovery command and update.zip from the MicroSD, using both the /sdcard2 and /sdcard options in the command line. It still didnt work. What could I try to do, alternatively? Di I lose my tablet? Thanks in advance,Eduardo

Got a Nook HD for father's day, should I take it back for something else?

Monday 17th of June 2013 / droidforums.net
My wife and kids gave me a Nook HD for father's day. I'm a little beyond the standard user as I like to customize and get the most out of my devices. However, I've been out of the loop lately as far as keeping up with the latest hardware, custom ROMs etc. I've rooted devices before but am currently using a non-rooted Razr Maxx HD. I've played with the Nook HD a little (but haven't gotten into customizing the home screens) if that's even possible. I've found that a few of the apps I use aren't even compatible with the device. Should I look into another tablet? I really don't want to put too much $$ into upgrading to another device but maybe ~$50 would be doable. Just thought I'd check here for some info as to what I could do with customizing or tweaking the Nook HD? The Nook HD was a gift to replace an old Kindle with a broken screen. I will read on the device but if I can get more out of it I'd like to. I travel a lot and use a MBA for my laptop needs. I figure that a decent tablet might be an added bonus for games, facebook, simple browsing, email and other time killing activities.

Coby 8048 broken power port, part number?

Friday 19th of July 2013 / androidtablets.net
Hi, so I guess my kids were a bit rough the tablet and must of went running with the tablet while it was plugged in or something lol. For awhile now, it has been hard to charge, but if plugged in just right it would charge. Well, I took it apart and the power port is just broke, and I need to order a new one. This one is not fixable. So onto my question: Where can I get one, and does anybody have a part number for it? I hate to have to order somebody's tablet with a broken screen just to get their power port lol. Well, thanks for your time and have a good one. btw, not that it is relevant, but I do have this tablet rooted and have google play it has been working just fine for the last few months or so, except for the charging problem lol, I have read that some ppl have had probs with charging while rooted, but again this port is straight up broke (on the back of the port is like a U shaped piece of metal, that from what it looks like connects the side feet when the charger is plugged in, that fell out and was all loose, but the feet were soldered on, so like I said, I need a whole ne

Factory Restore Ruined Maxtouch A20 Tablet

Wednesday 25th of December 2013 / androidtablets.net
I received a Maxtouuch A20 tablet for Christmas this morning and I installed a bunch of apps. One of which was the Sky Go Tablet app so I could watch some movies. When I went to watch it I wasn't allowed because it said my device was rooted. I then attempted to unroot my device by using the superuser app thing and unrooting it that way which didn't work, nor did some es app to delete the files but I couldn't even do that because it said it was 'read-only'. As none of these methods worked I thought the best thing to do would be to restore to factory default settings. What an awful mistake that was! It has been on the loading screen for the past 8 hours. I fiddled around with some buttons and it came up with a screen that allowed me to reboot it and wipe data and I've clicked on them and they have done that but then when restarting again it still gets stuck on the never ended loading phase. I tried the maxtouuch website and they had a link to reflash the firmware but the link is broken. Don't know what to do. My Christmas has been fairly crap as I spent so long looking forward to this
