what can android system recovery do?

Tuesday 24th of August 2010 / androidforums.com
I want to do factory reset. when I went to "android system recovery" and selected "factory reset", I was asked if I want to clear all user data. What does this function do? Will it wipe out everything on my SD card and every information I put on my phone like email settings? What about the existing applications I installed? Thanks

I'm stuck at Android System Recovery. Now What

Saturday 19th of November 2011 / droidforums.net
Please Help. I was stuck at the M. I tried to flash CM7 to my phone and now it is stuck. I can get it to the triangle with the ! but then what can I do to fix it? When I use the volume buttons, I get options for Android system recovery, but I don't know which option to select or how to select it. This is a rooted Droid 2 previously running GB. Choices: Reboot System Now, Apply update from sdcard (I did save CM7 nightly update 139 to my sd card), wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition. Which and how would I select it? Then what will I need to do? Is there a link to some directions anywhere? Thanks for any help you can provide.

calendar - What exactly does CalDAV-Sync do?

Sunday 06th of January 2013 / android.stackexchange.com
Android has this Bug, that prevents you from using a standard CalDAV application. This App corrects that bug: CalDAV-Sync is a CalDAV client for Android to synchronize events. Due to its implementation as sync adapter it integrates seamlessly with the native calendar app and widgets.(Also check out CardDAV-Sync) Important note for Jelly Bean users: To prevent the removal of your accounts on reboot install this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dmfs.jb.workaround.caldavsync This app will create new calendars on your device (one for each calendar on your server account)How exactly does it solve it?Is it an alternative synchronisation? Or does it correct the bug?

New ClockworkMod Recovery Can Create Flashable Update.zip Files of ROMs

Wednesday 08th of August 2012 / androidheadlines.com
A new feature was teased for ClockworkMod Recovery 6 last night, one that will allow users to quickly create update.zip or image .zip files of ROMs to be shared with friends or the community. If you are running a new ROM and have made your own tweaks to /system or the boot/kernel, you can quickly turn it into a shareable ROM. And don’t worry, this doesn’t touch your /data or /cache, so no personal information will be included. This new CWM isn’t out yet, but should be in the next couple of days.Via: ¬†Google+Cheers Scott!…Continue Reading HereNew ClockworkMod Recovery Can Create Flashable Update.zip Files of ROMs – droid-life.com

What exactly does update.zip consist of? ZTE MErit boot-looped at Android System Recovery

Thursday 26th of July 2012 / androidforums.com
What exactly does update.zip consist of? My merit is boot looped at "Android System Recovery". (ASR)It is a ZTE Merit 990 on Straight Talk. I believe I flashed a wrong ROM. When the phone boots up, it displays the "Rethink Possible" logo for about 10 seconds(had one.three flashed originally) and then it goes straight to ASR. I've attempted to create an Update.zip from different roms and stuff floating around on this forum and elsewhere, but the end result for all of them is "installation aborted".I have another ZTE Merit on the way just in case my soft-bricked Merit happens to be permanently bricked. But I intend to at the least make a nandroid back-up of the phone before any of my info is put onto the phone, and make it available to all. Also wondering if somebody can guide me to documentation that will explain how to create a ROM image, to also make the original ROM available to others. I know there are others who are also looking for the original ROM for the Straight Talk ZTE Merit 990.Lastly, rescuing my phone absolutely has to be done through Update

Launching with Sense 2.0... What exactly does that mean?

Tuesday 18th of January 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
So I think I have finally decided that the Thunderbolt will be my new device. I'm due in April for an upgrade and am hoping that it's released by then! Anyway, I saw that it is launching with Sense 2.0. What exactly does that mean? I've been Googling, trying to find new features of Sense 2.x vs Sense 1.x. Can someone help me out please? A feature list would be awesome! Thanks!!

Clicked on firmware update, stuck in Android System Recovery

Thursday 11th of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Please help! First off, I don't do anything unofficial with my Padfone 2, no flashing or anything. I awoke this morning to see a "Firmware Update Available" notification on my Padfone 2. Every time I get these, I update without a problem. However, this morning the update just restarted the phone and went to a screen with lots of small coloured text, one line of which said something like a file not found, update aborted. Then I got taken to an 'Android System Recovery' screen, small blue text. My options are:reboot system now (I have selected this a couple of times, it does nothing, brings me back to this screen) apply update from external storage wipe data / factory reset wipe cache partition apply update from cache I just want my phone back. I do not want to wipe anything, I do not want to lose any data, it's full of pics and videos of my kids. I don't even want or need a firmware update. I only clicked update because it said 'We strongly recommend you update'. Any ideas? Please help!
