Viewing PDF files

Tuesday 27th of December 2011 / androidforums.com
What is the best way to store and view files that are in Adobe PDF format? I downloaded several to my SD Card along with some Word and Excel files. I can get the MS files using Polaris but how do I bring up the PDF stuff. I have Adobe reader installed but can't figure out how to bring it to the desk top.

Alternative to viewing .pdf files using Kindle!

Saturday 19th of January 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey guys, i just figured this out on my nexus 7 and i wanted to share it with the community First download the kindle app in the play store. Random, but yeah just do it. What the kindle app is great for is storing books and also viewing .pdf's. when a pdf is open ,it can search for words, etc. Next after you've registered with the kindle app, go to your downloads, where your .pdf files are shown. Select the .pdf files After selecting the files, a share button and a garbage can will appear on the top right corner Click the share button and send the .pdf to "Amazon send to kindle" After that is done, go to your kindle and at the top right, click the drop down menu and "sync and check for items" **NOTE: Depending on the size of the .pdf, it may take a few minutes ** If its been too long and you still do not see the file, try going to library > All items. And voila! .pdf files stored, and easily accessible with features like searching for words and searching for pages

Is there any way to read encrypted files (by the phone) on my computer?

Sunday 21st of October 2012 / androidforums.com
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I had the SD card encrypted using the phone. Then I accidently deleted a couple of files. So I used Pandora Recovery to recover these files and that was successful. Pandora said 0% overwritten and hence I could recover all of them. However I couldn't open these files on the computer as these were encrypted. I tried copying these to the phone and tried opening it from the phone as well but that didn't work. Then I decrypted the SD card using the phone itself and tried recovering the files using pandora again. Still I can't read the files on the computer or the phone. Presumably when the phone decrypted the files it didn't decrypt the 'deleted' files as it can't see it. So is there any way I can read these encrypted files directly from my computer? I have got the encryption password. But I can't find anywhere to put that while accessing the files on the computer. Thanks in advance for your help.

Polaris Viewer

Saturday 01st of September 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
I was opening a text document and I accidently selected the "Polaris Viewer" as the default toi open it. Well, it doesn't work and I can't figure out how to change the "association". I thought I would just find the app in my app drawer and delete it but I can't find it anywhere. When I hit menu in the program it shows the license agreement as "Polaris" but I sure can't find it using search in the app drawer or file explorer. Anyone help? Thanks

Polaris viewer

Wednesday 19th of June 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Polaris viewer has started running and used 13% of my battery in 6 hours today. I didn't view anything, so I'm not sure what's got it going. I think in the past I've disabled it and used Adobe. Does that seem reasonable? Sent from my SPH-L710 using AC Forums mobile app

Viewing Encrypted Files/Polaris Viewer

Saturday 27th of July 2013 / androidforums.com
I've had my Galaxy S3 for several months now through T-Mobile. I have a DropBox account which I have downloaded on my computer and on my phone so I can access files on either device (like a cloud). I created a word document on my computer and then made it encrypted with a password. I placed this file in my dropbox on my computer so I could access it on my phone. It used to work fine, and now all of the sudden it won't open the file. I used to be able to open dropbox on my phone, click on the document and then it would open in Polaris Viewer and prompt me for the password. I'd type it in and everything was fine-working like it was supposed to.I tried to open the document earlier in the week and when I clicked on the document I got a message that stated "This document cannot be opened." I've been playing with the setting on my computer for the last hour or so trying to figure it out and can't. I even saved the document as a word 97-2003 document. This would allow me to open and get to the password prompt screen, but when I type in the password (the same one that works on the
