How do I connect to the internet via my Android on Linux?
Sunday 27th of January 2013
Forgive me for posting this in the wrong category, but I don't where else to post. I have a Samsung Galaxy Europa running 2.2 and I have installed Linux Mint 14 on my desktop. I don't know how to connect to the internet using my phone as a modem. Mint does not recognize the device at all. On Windows I can use Samsung Kies, but I don't know what to do. I am thinking of using Wine, but it might not work. Help?

What is everyone's favourite phone to pair with a Nexus 7?
Thursday 21st of February 2013
Hi I'm wondering if anyone has any particular views on which android phones work particularly well with the Nexus 7? I should note that I'm in the UK and have a wi-fi only device, so I'd be looking to use my phone as a tethered modem a lot, and I want really good seemless integration as far as possible. bluetooth, nfc all mandatory requirements! Any views gratefully received.

wi fi - Can I use my Android device as Wi-Fi Dongle (ie Tethering to PC through USB, but using Wi-FI not Phone Network)?
Thursday 25th of November 2010
I want to use my Android phone to connect a desktop (windows 7) PC to the internet via Wi-Fi (ie, not muching though my Data plan). Is this possible with the various tethering options out there?The reason I ask is, most suppot wi-fi the other way around, ie, the phone is the wi-fi hotspot, and the internet connection comes over the phone network. I want to connect to an existing wi-fi network, and share that with the PC.Background - for various reasons our office LAN network is b0rked and very slow. The office WiFi network on the other hand is happy and fast. But my desktop PC is wired only. If I can use my phone as a wifi dongle/modem/adaptor, and connect to the office wifi, then I'll get a much faster connection.Edit: I've got an HTC Desire HD, I haven't rooted it so far.

using transform as a modem?
Wednesday 15th of December 2010
Is there any way to use the transform as a tethered modem for a pc? This is my first android phone and I've just switched to sprint from att&t. I've had samsung phones for a long time and usually use the samsung pc studio to set up a dial in connection, but neither version I've downloaded will even connect to the transform, and I've tried using pda net and easy tether, neither of which have worked for me. Any help would be certainly appreciated, because whether or not I can figure out how to use this phone as a modem is going to partially determine if I stick with sprint or try another carrier I can do this with(I've already gotten a tmobile g2 to work with pda net, but sprint plans are cheaper so if at all possible.....yeah)

how to get HTC desire to work as a usb modem for laptop
Saturday 17th of July 2010
Hi I'm new to the forum and to android phones - so apologies if this question is in the wrong place/basic!I've been trying to connect my new HTC desire to my laptop (Dell inspiron 1300) to use the phone as a modem, and have been trying to get it to work with active sync which apparently only works for windows phones?! Oops.Anyway now that I've been set straight, and got up to date HTC sync software on my computer i still cant get my laptop to run internet off my phone? I'm sure I'm missing something really obvious but any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
