applications - I've rooted my tablet, now how do I get rid of this bloatware?

Sunday 18th of March 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
Possible Duplicate: Rooted Phone but still can't uninstall Apps I just went through the process of rotting my Galaxy Tablet 10.1. I used these instructions, and the process went smoothly so I think it was a success. However, everything looks pretty much the same as before, so I can't really tell if anything has actually happened. In any case, part of the reason I did this was so that I could remove some pre-installed bloatware off the tablet. My understanding was that if the tablet was rooted, I would have the ability to do this.If this is the case, though, I can't tell how. There is still no uninstall option in Settings->Applications->Manage Applications for the unwanted apps.Do I have to do something else?Is my tablet not actually rooted as I thought? Was I wrong that a rooted tablet would be able to remove bloatware?

manually removing bloat??? step inside please

Thursday 29th of December 2011 / androidforums.com
Now that the Rezound has root. A lot of users will want to get rid of bloat. There are a few scripts out that will do this for you but some people (me included) like to be more involved in the process. So please read this before diving in. 1. What you think may be "bloat" may actually need to be on the phone for other dependent services to function correctly. There is no way around it some stuff you can not get rid of. 2. On apps that you know 100% is safe to do away with by all means go for it. However when you get into apps that your not sure about. DO THEM ONE AT A TIME. AFTER EACH ONE TEST THE NORMAL FUNCTIONS OF YOUR PHONE. Example things like the dialer, camera, stock texting app. General use of the phone. Because deleting something you think is useless bloat could cause a Force Close on your Dialer. I've seen it happen. 3. HOW TO MANUALLY DO AWAY WITH "BLOAT"You have several choices:A. My preferred method is use TiBu (titanium backup pro) to freeze unwanted bloat. B. You can also rename bloat simply by putting a _ somewhere in the name of it using root expl

I got the new HTC One S (T-Mo USA) and I love it. But to my dismay I started getting tons of Advertisements (they show up in the notification bar). A couple of times, by mistake, I clicked on them and my phone started downloading unwanted apps. How do I get rid of this?!Thanks

teething problems

Monday 30th of August 2010 / androidforums.com
Hi all I started a what to do first thread last night that was really usefull. Before i download barcode reader etc, I have a few teething problems; i did the tutorials on first setting up my phone and added facebook to the friend stream, this added loads of unwanted phone numbers to my phone book though. I dont want my facebook friends numbers in my phonebook. removed facebook from the freind stream, is there away of not having the numbers adding to the phone book? I have been playing with the phone, opening the stuff that is already on there for now. I keep using the back button to close apps but fear they may still be running. Likewise with the internet, I used the homebutton to get rid of it but i fear it is still running. How do you close it. I can get on after sorting thses initial problems Thanks

How do I remove apps?

Sunday 14th of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I want to remove some apps that came with my phone, but the "manage apps" setting screen does have an option for uninstalling them. Pressing and holding the icon gives me two options: "Add to home" and "Add to group." I want to uninstall. I'd really like to know how to get rid of these. Otherwise I am doomed to have useless and unwanted apps staring at me as long as I have this phone. And who knows what they are doing without my knowledge! Thanks for any help.Tom
