Can "set up SIM card lock" cause software problem?

Tuesday 22nd of January 2013 / droidforums.net
Greetings, Droid 4, not rooteddrivers updated from Motorola websiteAndroid 2.3.6built ..6.5.1_167_DR4_1I plan using the phone for work and banking. Can "set up SIM card lock cause software device problem"? I ask because the nice lady at the Verizon store said I "would become a frequent walk in at the store, and risk losing my info." She implied it was a problem with the phone, vs. user error.I use the screen lock, and set the Data encryption to "protect the data on your phone or memory card."I did some searching and read about quite a few mishaps with Sim card lock, but most seem to use/abuse of the phone. Some problems stem from entering the wrong password at set up of Sim card lockSo my questions are:Is this a redundant pass code with only a small benefit? Are there software issues with the Droid 4/Android with this type of security? At the first set up, do I use my unlock screen code, or do use the factory default Sim card?I did go to My Verizon and get my Sim card PUK code(Personal Unlock Code). Just in case. Thanks for looking.Norm

how do I fix this problem with my acer liquid metal s120 msg reads on booting phone You have entered the wrong SIM network unlock PIN 10 times . The network is locked. Please contact the service centre. The phone is locked to telstra and factory reset does not workTrying to install a new rom does not workI have rang telstra and get put through to their call centre in india and they don't have a clue- they think it is a puk code problem. other than that they pass me on to acerI speak to acer and they, like me look at the error msg - the network is locked-I have been googling for an answer for two weeks and nothing has helpedThe option to put in any codes was passed ages ago.. it is beyond entering a network unlock code, i tried guessing some numbers to do that and they were incorrect , that is why i have this problem.the actual phone still works, i can play games and llok in the menu etc, but there is a cross on the reception bars * Optional Information: Make: AcerModel: Liquid metal s120Already Tried: factory reset

Phone suddenly PUK locked?

Saturday 28th of July 2012 / androidforums.com
All right guys, I've got a bit of a problem here.I'm running a Rooted Insipre with 4.0.3. I don't know anything about rooting and my friend did this for me, so all I know is it's most likely using ClockWorkMod if I'm looking at this right. The problem is: I enabled the SIM card lock, so whenever I turned on my phone the first thing it would do after boot is ask for a PIN to unlock my password. About maybe a month later, today, I woke up and booted my phone to find now it was asking for an 8-digit PUK code along with a 'New Pin Code'.I have no idea what a PUK code even is and I never set it.I've gotten to the point of having factory reset my phone and it's still asking for both codes. Thanks in advance for your help!

Warning: Don't accidentally lock out your SIM card!!!

Wednesday 23rd of March 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
This mistake is costing me a lot of frustration and wasted time. Apparently, Verizon Wireless today is having some kind of customer service database problems for the past two hours and basically can't do anything. Timely that I would decide this morning to try and set up a password for my SIM card. I thought the phone was asking me to enter (read: create) the password for the SIM card, but nope... it already has a default password, and was asking me to enter that. I entered (read: tried to create) a password twice, and BAM... locked out of my phone. The only way to unlock the phone now is to enter a PUK code, which Verizon does not give you when you buy your phone. Since the phone is locked, I have no way to call Verizon Support. I went down to the retail store instead, and found out there is nothing they can do until their systems are back up... with NO ETA after an hour of being down. So, I had to leave my phone with them and will have to go back later to pick it up once they fix the issue. !@#!@$

Procedure to unlock the T-Mobile ZTE Concord (given a valid unlock code)

Monday 14th of January 2013 / androidforums.com
QUESTION: Given a valid 8-digit unlock code, what is the procedure to unlock the T-Mobile pay-as-you-go ZTE Concord cellphone?I've had a pay-as-you-go T-Mobile ZTE Concord, bought at Target, on a T-Mobile contract plan for months. I contacted T-Mobile 3 weeks ago and they finally sent me the 8-digit unlock code. But T-Mobile support had me type 3 different procedures to unlock, all of which failed.Since the phone can be bricked if we do this wrong too many times, I ask here:Q: What is the unlock procedure for the ZTE Concord given I have the IMEI and the 8-digit unlock code, and a 2-year old AT&T now defunct SIM card? Here's what they had me do first:a) Confirm the IMEI of the ZTE Concord by typing *#06#, with the T-Mobile SIM in place (this works fine)b) Remove battery to put in the AT&T (i.e., foreign) SIM card & replace batteryc) Boot phone which reportsd) Enter **05*PUK*PIN*PIN#e) Then it asks for the old PUK and the new PUKf) Then it fails and decrements from (10) to (9).We tried that three times, and it decremented from (10) to (9) to (8) before I put a stop to this n

"Sim Card is PUK-locked." Need help!

Wednesday 25th of January 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
I need some help. I was in Settings and opened a SIM Card option, the exact name I can't remember (something to do with blocking other SIM cards from being inserted in the device?). It didn't open the first time, so I hit it again. Then my phone was instantly PUK-locked and I can't unlock my phone. It says, "Emergency calls only / SIM card is PUK-locked." on the bottom of the unlock phone screen. When slide the lock icon to the unlock icon, my phone it says, "Enter PUK and new PIN Code" and I don't know what my PUK number is or what to do. Some background Info:I am using a rooted Galaxy Nexus GSM in Taiwan. My network provider is Taiwan Mobile.I recently installed a new ROM: Codename Android 1.2.0I recently installed Franco's kernel (1/20/2012).

Unlock SIM PUK code

Monday 12th of August 2013 / androidforums.com
I use a Droid Incredible 4G LTE by HTC, and my carrier is Verizon Wireless. I've recently I've accidentally locked myself out by trying to unlock the SIM code. I entered wrong three times and now it is requiring me to enter my eight digit SIM PUK code, and I have no idea what it is. So far when it asked me to do so, I entered a random eight digit number to see what would happen, and it asked me to enter and re-enter a new 4-8 digit SIM lock code. When I did, it told me that the code I've entered doesn't match with the SIM PUK password. Please help!

Help unlocking my phone

Sunday 13th of October 2013 / droidforums.net
I found on Verizon's website where you can get the code to unlock your sim card. I need help figuring this out though. This is from the site belowUnblock SIM PIN - DROID RAZR HD / RAZR MAXX HD by MOTOROLANote The PIN Unlock Key (PUK) is utilized to reset a blocked SIM card and must be obtained via the My Verizon website before proceeding. If necessary, select Phone (located in the lower-left of the home screen).Note If not available, navigate Apps > Phone.Enter the 8-digit PUK then select Continue.Note If an invalid PUK is entered too many times, the SIM card will be permanently disabled.Enter a new SIM PIN code (4 to 8-digits) then select Continue.Re-enter the new SIM PIN code then select Continue. Now, my question is I have the PUK but it says select continue. there is no continue on the phone dialer screen and when I push the phone like to call button it just says "my call cannot be completed as dialed" Can anyone help with this???? I would greatly appreciate it!
