Unable to login to gmail using my phone
Saturday 08th of October 2011
I have a real live gmail account, (not an apps account) that is unable to log into gmail, for using the market, google maps, contact sync and of course gmail.I am able to log into via my computer, and I have even changed my gmail password, hoping that would resolve it.The message I get is:Google sign-in:There was a network error while trying to sign into ***@gmail.com. Retry now or press the Back button to cancel.[Try again]If I take the message on its word, then the issue is the network. I am in China, using China Unicom, and I've also tried several wifi networks. The problem has persisted for 24 hours. In addition, I have a Hong Kong sim that is unable to log in (roaming)I'm not positive that the network error is accurate, I do have access to skype and web browsing including google.comPhone is a Motorola XT701 running 2.1, the XT701 is a milestone derivative (from what I understand)Does anyone have any thoughts? Any suggestions of other things I can do?Thanks in advance

Google adds some much needed features to Voice
Tuesday 23rd of March 2010
Update: We have received email from multiple readers reporting that this update does not play nice with some devices running custom ROMs. The error seems to render Voice unable to log into the associated google account which results in it being unable to load properly. If you are experiencing similar issues or have a solution to the problem please post below. We also recommend that you make a Nandroid backup before updating Voice so that you can revert to the older version in case the update goes wrong.Today Google added two features to Voice for Android: Voice now lets you tap contact pictures to communicate more quickly with your contacts (see picture below) and, more importantly, Voice now offers quasi instant arrival for your incoming SMS. Using the Inbox synchronization feature, your SMS are now pushed to your handset within seconds of arriving rather than every 5 minutes or when you send one out. This is huge, considering that many people use SMS similar to the way they use IM – i.e. as an ongoing chat. To get your hands on the new shiny, check Android Market. For Google

Google account on Viewpad 7e
Monday 14th of May 2012
Hello,I'm fighting with this issue since I bought this tablet. This was my first tablet and I'm learning to use it still, but I'm getting used to it now. I use linux on my pc so I'm used to do tweaks and going through forums to find solutions. My problem is that I cannot create a google account on this tablet. I've read that it's not fully licenced so it's not supported. I created a facebook account with no problem, but I cannot even install the official gmail app (not via appbrain neither manually with the apk) it gives me this error:Parse error. There is a problem parsing the package.I installed the google play app but it asks me to create an account and then I'm back on the beggining:I go to accounts & sync > add account. There I have the facebook account and corporate account, I tap on corporate, type my gmail address and password but it prompts me:Setup could not finish. Unable to open connection to server.I can log in my gmail inbox via dolphin browser. I set up the two step verification and I can log into youtube, gmail etc. But I cannot sync my tablet to them.I tried ma

Unable to log in to Google Account
Saturday 05th of November 2011
Hi, I've been having a little trouble logging into my Google account on my phone. (HTC Inspire 4G)Apparently, I am logged out of my Google account. I can't post on Google+, I can't send emails on Gmail, etc. In the notification bar there's an error displayed that says "Sign-In Error for [username]". I click this, and up pops a window which says "You entered the wrong password or your password has changed. please enter it again below." And there's a text field. I enter my password and hit enter, and a small window which says 'Authenticiating..." pops up for a split second and dissapears, leaving me back to the window before. I know I'm entering the right password. I changed it and tried again with the new one, and same result. This started happening after I downloaded some apps off of 4shared. I don't know if this is a virus.I tried to remove this Google account from the phone, but it said that some apps required this account and that I would have to do a Factory Reset.

force close (apps not responding); want to backup before switching ROMs
Tuesday 26th of April 2011
I'm getting "The application xxxxxxxxxxx (process xxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxxxx) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." for the following things: Google Services Framework (com.google.process.gapps)Messaging (com.android.mms) [I'm unable to launch it due to this].Swype (com.swype.android) [pops up on an interval as android tries and relaunches it].Calendar (com.android.calendar) [I'm unable to launch it due to this].Contacts (android.process.acore) [I'm unable to launch it due to this]. I don't think any other apps are experiencing this. I'm wanting to take advantage of this occurrence to change ROMs. Is it safe to perform a backup of everything but restore data only after flashing the new ROM? Or if I restore SMS and MMS messages will that carry over the errors? Calendar and contacts data is all contained in either google or yahoo accounts etc cloud stored; and swype has no data I need to retain that I'm aware of. The only other app data to be saved is time recording (work hours tracker). Everything else is simply account log ins and minor stuff that is of no consequence to ma

How to completely disable gmail?
Thursday 12th of August 2010
Hey everyone,I recently have had some trouble with my gmail account and Google has decided to lock me out of my account. After almost a week of getting nowhere and being unable to access my account, I discovered a Google help page that said I need to not try to log into my account for 24 hrs before I can reset the password. At about 9pm EST last night I turned off the Gmail synching in the settings of my Droid X. However, shortly after that, I received the same alert "Unable to access gmail account" in the alerts page of the Droid, which means it's still trying to log in, which means I still won't be able to access my account. I'm waiting until 9pm before trying to log in, just in case it worked, but I doubt it did.The only way to delete a Google account from my phone is to restore it to factory settings, which I don't want to do.What do you all recommend? I can leave the phone off for 24 hrs if I have to, but that's not the ideal solution.Do you think that turning off the synching worked? Thanks,FA

Google Checkout closed from 4 to 5 p.m. (PDT) for maintenance
Wednesday 15th of June 2011
As I rolled out of bed at the crack of dawn noon, I noticed an e-mail from the Android Market team in my inbox telling me that paid applications and access to merchant accounts will be closed for an hour this afternoon for planned maintenance. What it boils down to if you're a shopper and not a developer is that you won't be able to purchase any apps between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. PDT today while they upgrade something. If you are a developer, you also won't be able to log into your Merchant account during this time.Conspiracy theories aside, everything should be back to normal by 5 p.m. PDT and you can start buying apps again. We've got the full text of the e-mail after the break. Thanks to everyone who sent this one in!Hello,We're writing to inform you about a planned service outage impacting AndroidMarket that requires your attention. On Wednesday, June 15th, Google Checkout will be unavailable fromapproximately 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. PDT due to planned system maintenance. Sunday 09th of October 2011
About 3 weeks ago i must've been randomly logged out of my google account because i have been unable to get on the android market. When i attempt to get on, it brings up a google sign in and wants me to "type the charecters i see in the picture". When i do this it authenticates for a couple seconds then tells me "You entered the wrong password or your account has changed, please re-enter your password". I have typed in every password ive ever used and nothing is working. I know im not the only person this is happening to, this has happened to a co-worker at the same time it has happened to me. Anyone know a solution?

If it continues, call customer care". Today I also did a factory reset on my phone and erased all contents but I was still unable to sign in. I even tried changing my google account password on my computer but still cant log in on my phone. Here I would also like to mention that internet on my phone is working fine. And stock email app is able to access my gmail account. Kindly advise what can I do to get my phone to sync again.
