Better alternative to pattern lock protection

Friday 18th of December 2009 / droidforums.net
Hi. Today I noticed that login password where you draw/connect the circles is not very good, because you can see an imprint of the pattern lock shape/code, when you turn the droid off and reflect light on to the screen. Is there a better, free, password word app, simliar to an ipod touch/iphone? I would rather not have to wipe down my droid after 4-5 entries of the pattern lock. Thanks

Tasker Profiles

Monday 13th of February 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi everyone, I've just started to use Tasker a bit more and I was hoping we could start a Tasker thread here in the Galaxy Nexus forum to share which Tasker profiles we have set up and help each other out. I am only scratching the surface of this powerful program and I want to learn more about it. If people want, we could probably upload our profiles here for each other to use. So far, I have two profiles set up under Tasker and two tasks set up that are triggered by NFC task launcher.1) Switch to airplane mode with no cell serviceWhen my phone has no service, it waits 2 mins and if I still have no service, it will switch my phone to airplane mode. It will then wait 30 mins and if airplane mode is on, it will switch it off so my phone can recheck for service. 2) Turn off pattern lock when connected to home wifiThis requires you to be rooted, have busybox and secure settings installed (both apps are free). Basically, when I am connected to my home wifi and have unlocked my phone using pattern lock for the first time, it will switch off the pattern lock requirement so I can just swipe

Adding Pandora widget to Pattern Lock

Thursday 16th of September 2010 / droidforums.net
Is there a way to add the Pandora widget to the Pattern Lock screen? I hate having to unlock my phone every time I want to skip a song. I have seen a music widget or even the phone/contacts/mail apps being accessed on the normal lockscreen before but I am not sure if I could do similar things on the pattern lock. Some soon to be FAQ about my request: Q: Why not just leave the screen on? A: Well I hate having it heating up and using the screen constantly.Q: Why use the pattern lock then?A: Because I have sneaky people around me and I don't want to have to turn off and on my lock...I might forget to turn it back on at some point.

Verizon Sends Mass Text Warning of Samsung Fascinate Emergency Dialer Bug

Wednesday 02nd of February 2011 / phandroid.com
Attention Samsung Fascinate owners currently on the DL09 software version: your ability to use the emergency dialer could be compromised. If you use pattern lock as a means to keep your phone undisturbed, chances are the dialer that allows your phone to dial out an emergency number without being unlocked won’t work. Verizon issued a mass text to many of its customers to keep them aware of the situation.“Free VZW Msg(s) – Use of your emergency call button on your Fascinate phone with software SCH-i500.DL09 may not work while the phone is locked. A software fix will be pushed to your device soon. Until available, disable pattern lock to ensure emergency calls can be placed. To check your software version press Applications>Settings>About phone and view Build number. Only version SCHi-500.DL09 is impacted by this issue. Versions SCH-i500.DI01 and SCH-i500.DH12 are functioning properly. To disable pattern lock press Applications>Settings>Location & Security and remove check from Require Pattern.”Pretty basic advice. Turn off pattern lock until an OTA f

Disable Pattern Lock with Home Wifi need root?

Sunday 09th of February 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi All, I'm loving my Nexus 5, my first Android phone. I use Pattern Lock. I want to disable Pattern Lock when I'm at my home wifi. I did some research and it looks like apps can only turn off Pattern Lock when the phone is rooted. Is this true? I don't want to root my phone and I'd rather not have to enter Pattern Lock a hundred times a day. Any options? Thanks! Advait
