Trouble playing some movies, vids

Saturday 16th of October 2010 / android.net
I searched, but couldn't find an answer that helped. Thanks to the 'Definitive file structure" thread I moved a bunch of music, ringtones, event sounds and a couple of movies over to the Ally. All the audio stuff works great, but I have an issue with the vid/movies.A quick search turned up the thread that goes over the supported movie/vid file types, so I know the Ally plays .WMV files.I loaded a little 30 sec .WMV of a lady with a hula-hoop that works great, LOL!I also loaded my digital copy of Star Trek X, the smaller file for 'portable devices', also a .WMV file. No dice, won't play, I get a 'Cannot Play Video" message.I deleted the file, jiggered the file structure a bit, put it in it's own folder...still no luck, same failure message. Then, as an experiment, I moved a copy of the sample vid from Windows 7, the one with the horses, nice clear vid, also .WMV. Nada, same as Trek.Any clues? Is there a file size limit for movies? Does the Ally only play porn movies? Perhaps there's an app that plays movies? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WMV format and Android tablet- Android tablet not playing .wmv movies

Wednesday 12th of September 2012 / androidtablets.net
“I can’t play (.wmv) video fills on my Galaxy Tab 2. All my videos transferred fine but when I try to play some movies (in .wmv format) an error message appears saying 'Sorry, this video cannot be played'. Why this happen? I thought .wmv is a supported format, isn’t it?” Why should my Android tablet not play .wmv videos? This is a frequently asked question in Android tablet forums. It’s a puzzle to many new GT users, because WMV is mentioned as a supported format if you check Android tablet specifications-Android tablet supported format: 3gp, mp4, avi, wmv, flv, mkv In fact Android tablet plays most .wmv movies, but not all of them. Some people say that the error message is caused by high resolution, but per my test Android tablet 2 10.1 handles 1920x1080 HD .wmv files just fine. The real matter is codec. WMV is just a container format in which media contents could be compressed using wmv1, wmv2, wmv3 codecs. However only the wmv3(vc1) is a supported codec to Android tablet- Android tablet supported codec: MPEG4, H.263, Sorenson H.263, H.264, VC-1, DivX/

Playing QuickTime movies on Android

Sunday 10th of March 2013 / androidforums.com
I am new to tablets and am using the Samsung 10.1-inch Tab 2 with Android 4.1.1 (Jellybean). I am having trouble playing Quicktime movies on the tablet. Using either MX Player or Firefox I can see the video, but the audio is silent. The movies do play OK online on both my Windows 7 and Mac OSX computers. I was unable to find a QuickTime APP in the Google Play Store, so wonder if the movies will ever play on Android. Can anyone help?

Trouble playing music in my car with auxiliary cord

Tuesday 31st of July 2012 / androidforums.com
I got a new Motorola Pro Plus a week ago and I'm having trouble playing music in my car with an auxiliary cord. Music will randomly stop every 3-7 minutes or so, and I'll have to hit Play again AND unplug and plug back the aux cord so that the cord is recognized and doesn't play through my phone speakers. My phone runs Gingerbread. I've never had this problem with my Sansa (ages ago) nor my iPod Touch so I know it's not my car nor the cord. I also don't have this problem when I use my earphones. I've tried to find solutions online, and it was suggested to download the Headset Blocker app. That worked for my 30 minute commute to work this morning which made me really happy, but this afternoon going home my music began to randomly stop again every 3-7 minutes, to my disappointment. Has anyone else heard of this problem and have any advice? I would really like to give away my iPod to my mother, but this problem is holding me back. Thanks.

Trouble playing downloaded movies

Sunday 20th of November 2011 / androidtablets.net
This is really hit and miss, and very frustrating. I would say more than 70% of the movies I try to play on my Vizio tablet come up with and error of "Sorry, this video cannot be played". I have tried different players, Mobo, MX, Dice, etc, and they are seem to be the same. I've tried SW and HW modes. No luck. Most of my movies are .AVI and around 700mb. The strange part is that one will play fine while the other will not, even though both are .avi files.I even went so far as to take the time to convert one of them that would not play over to .MP4 and MPEG-4 to see if that fixed it and they still won't play.I should also say that these files play fine on my laptop with both WMP and VLC player.Am I missing something with regard to Android and what these tablets need for codecs, etc? This is my first tablet so I am totally new to Android. Thanks all-

trouble playing movies, converting file formats, help pls

Friday 20th of August 2010 / forums.androidcentral.com
I've been searching for threads related to watching movies but most of the information is scattered and sparse. I bough Star Trek on Blue Ray and it came with a digital copy; Windows Media or iTunes only. I found some threads describing changing formats AND frame rate? WTF? Isn't there something for playing HD movies other than streaming? I tried Rock player and yxplayer and no joy. What the heck is FLV format? I appreciate any help putting this all together! I'm running rooted 2.2...

Trouble playing some movie files

Tuesday 13th of May 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi guys, Just bought a Galaxy Note 3 and I'm having trouble playing a couple of movie files. One I can see but there's no sound. Checking the audio codec in VLC on my desktop it says: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52) Channels 3F2F/LFE And another one I can hear but the picture is black. It's an avi file and the video codec is: MPEG4 Video XVID Decoded Format Planer 4:2:0 YUV Other ones I've tried seem ok so far. Is it a case of downloading codecs or trying a different player? I've tried The standard supplied one, MX Player and VLC. Any ideas? Cheers
