Top 10 Android apps appear on 34% to 99% of phones using AppBrain

Wednesday 21st of July 2010 / androinica.com
Whether the Android Market has 70,000 or 100,000 apps, there are more Android apps than any one device will ever be able to hold. AppBrain argues that “Quality, not quantity” is what matters most in the Android Market, and we have to agree.Take a look at this data from AppBrain, which reveals that the top app on Android is used by 99.1% of its users. That’s not surprising given that Maps – and fellow top apps Facebook, Goggles, and Amazon MP3 – comes preloaded on many Android devices. Few apps see remotely similar penetration rates, so AppBrain argues that users probably care more about discovering the good apps that they use rather than the actual number of available choices.Androinica covers when the Android Market crosses certain milestones because it’s something that a lot of people care about. The growth of the App Market reveals Android’s growth as a platform and shows how it stacks up against competing operating systems. But the difference between 70,000 and 100,000 is minimal if most users can find the apps they grow to love. (And we

War must go on – Samsung to attack iPhone 5 with infringement claims on eight patents

Thursday 20th of September 2012 / androidheadlines.com
It’s been a tough time lately for Samsung in ongoing legal war against Apple, with the Android phone maker losing patent battle after battle. And while the losses have been painful, particularly the one from California in late August, the bigger picture is still not as gloomy for Sammy as some are trying very hard to paint it.Sure, Samsung does have to pay Apple $1 billion in damages after the California trial verdict, but the sum might be lowered after appeal, or it might even go away altogether (possible, though highly unlikely). The last few weeks haven’t been particularly kind to Samsung either, with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales ban stay again being rejected, not to m…Continue Reading HereWar must go on – Samsung to attack iPhone 5 with infringement claims on eight patentsadrian diaconescu – androidauthority.com

Android File Transfer on Mac Showing "Empty Folders" on Phone??

Thursday 25th of October 2012 / androidforums.com
Hello All...how has everyone been?? Having a problem with my wife's EVO LTE...trying to transfer her pictures to MacBook for backup via USB.I am familiar with the Android File Transfer app for my MacBook permitting the mounting and file transfer due to the MTP protocol:Android File Transfer InfoAfter installing Android File Transfer, I WAS preivously able to download the picture files but, for some reason recently, I am NOT able to do so any more...?? As before, I hook up the phone via USB, choose "Media Sync" and Android File Transfer launches on my computer and then shows the internal storage in a window. However, as you can see in the picture below, I expanded the arrow next to the DCIM folder where the 100MEDIA folder and images should reside and nothing expands..and if I open the folder itself, it is TOTALLY empty:NO image files...not even the 100MEDIA folder shows up in my computer's Finder!!And when i go back to the folder and use a file explorer app, I see ALL the image files just fine at DCIM>100MEDIA.So, why did this work for a bit and then stop?? How come I ca

Android File Transfer on MacBook

Wednesday 21st of August 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi I have a Nexus 4 and my wife has an S4 Mini. I wanted to add songs from my iTunes library on my MacBook Air and not wanting to have multiple applications for running my music library, Android File Transfer seemed the best option for some drag and drop functionality. I installed it and had it working with my Nexus 4 in a USB mass storage capacity instantly - great. However, I just cannot get it to work with my wife's S4 Mini and every time I get told to reconnect the device by AFT and the Mac throws up my network connection settings as it probably thinks the phone is a modem. I have also checked to ensure the S4 is in USB storage mode. This is obviously something specific to the device as my Nexus works flawlessly. Any ideas? Posted via Android Central App

Adding music to Android (Nexus 5) using Itunes + Android File Transfer on a Mac

Friday 08th of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I love the native music player that comes stock on android (via google music). I also use a mac, and I'm in Canada (so I can't take full advantage of the google music service, I.E. storing music in the cloud and managing it that way. In order to put music on my android phone i simply select the songs in my itunes and and drag them into the music folder in Android File Transfer. This works, however, there is one problem: the songs aren't organized into folders, which makes it extremely difficult to organize / delete music from my phone when I want to, as the songs are organized as 01 01 01 01 01 01 02 02 02 02 02 02 03 03 03 03 etc. I tried to right click the music folder and say new folder but it won't create that folder in the music folder. I tried moving the songs into that folder then dragging it into the music folder but that won't work. I really don't want to use double twist, because I have in the past, and I don't really like it all that much. I just want my files to be organized into folders so that when I can delete them later when I want to. Surely there's an easy way to g

Tracfone ZTE valet crashing Android File Transer on connection to mas osx 5.8

Sunday 05th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi folks, new to this tech but I've followed all instruction I can find. If I connect to my comp (os 10.5.8) via PTP (cam) it opens my iphoto just fine.. but if I want to connect it to transfer music, etc (via MTP) the Android File Transfer that I downloaded begins to start up, then immediately crashes. If I connect it via "install driver" it starts up then tells me that there is no android device attached. Any help folks? thanks in advance.
