Text Notification Not Working

Thursday 11th of November 2010 / android.net
Hi there - I'm having some issues with my notification tone withing my Text Messaging settings. What the phone is set to:The phone's ringer volume is around 80%. The "Use incoming call volume for notifications" is checked. The ring-tone for the text messages is set.Notifications is turned on to display in the bar (this isn't an issue). The Problem:When I receive a text message, my little light turns white, but there is no sound at all.The only way I can be alerted if I have a text message is to turn the vibrate feature for notifications on.Methods I've tried:Changing all of my settings and notifications to silent, loud, downloaded ring tones, standard/preloaded ring tones --- This did nothingTurning phone off, waiting for 2 minutes, and then back on --- This works briefly - maybe an hour or two and then no sounds againDeleting all message threads --- This worked once, and never worked again as a solutionTurning phone off, removing battery momentarily, and then turning back on --- This did not work at all as a solutionUn-mounting SD card, removing it and wait a minute, and the

No text message notifications

Monday 11th of July 2011 / droidforums.net
There I was minding my own business when out of nowhere my phone stopped notifying me of text messages. I think all I did was reboot the phone and it just stopped working. I get no sound, no vibration, and no notification. I'm running Liberty v2.0.1 w/ Launcher Pro Plus. I use Handcent SMS as my text messaging application and have checked the settings several times to make sure everything is set up correctly, and the weird part is that when I go to "Test Notification" a notification pops up and the phone vibrates like it's supposed to, but not when I receive an actual message. Thinking Handcent SMS was the problem I switched to Go SMS Pro, checked all of the settings, and I still wouldn't receive a notification, so I tried the stock messaging application, checked all of the settings, and got the same result. I checked all of the audio levels and everything is as it should be. To make things weirder if I receive a picture message I get a notification and the phone vibrates like it's supposed to, but a normal text message yields no results.I have tried rebooting the phone sev

Changing to custom text msg 'notification' sound - impossible?

Saturday 18th of February 2012 / droidforums.net
Have a new Rezound with recent OTA update. Have rebooted, finally got it all working, I thought. No rooting, etc.But - I cannot get rid of the crappy lame default notification tone. I've used ALL the options suggested in these pages, but I cannot get anything but a combination of my selected custom sound AND the default sound. Ugly. When I go into the 'set notification sound' option, using SMS/Menu/Settings/Notifications/set notification sound (for example), a brief screen shows only 'Default Notification' and a red dot indicating it is selected (NO way to change that behavior). That quickly changes to show all my custom sounds; I pick a short mp3 that I like (it plays just fine), select it, back out, and off. When I get a text message, my custom notification sound plays for about one second, then the tail-end of the (lame) 'default' sound.I've gone into this setting from various menu points, as suggested in these pages. NONE of them correct the problem. I've rebooted, no help. One person here suggested making sure 'default notification' was not selected - but there does not appear to b

android.process.acore Error?

Friday 19th of November 2010 / droidforums.net
Ok, so when I woke up this morning I had an error message on my Incredible:SORRY!The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. (Only Option to Force Close) I am able to duplicate this problem by restarting the phone either manually or by battery pull. I've also noticed that the circular refresh icon appears on my top bar, and it will stay there until I get the error message. After I click the force close, the refresh icon disappears. I've also noticed that since getting this error message I'm unable to change my text message notification sound. I can still change my ringtones and my email notification, but not my text message notification. Doesn't make sense. At any rate, I've no idea what going on. I tried pulling down my notification bar when I saw the refresh icon working up in the top bar, but it doesn't show me what it is that's trying to refresh. Called Verizon CustServ and they didn't have a solution. Basically just had me *228 and reprogram, to no avail. Ideas welcome. Technogeek1984"I'm still waiting for someone to make a movie that is in

Help: Lost my text message notifications sounds

Wednesday 16th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Out of the blue I noticed today that I wasn't getting the usual beep noise when a new text came in (Using Handcent). It worked fine yesterday. Phone calls ring through fine (as in ringtone works). Email notification sounds work. The volumes are all set to max. Just text msg's stopped working. One thing that I did over the last few hours was play around with Themer and I tried out the UPicons app. Both of which I've stopped using and I'm back to Nova Launcher. I'm not sure if something wasn't/isn't playing nice and blocking the text notification sound or what. Not sure at this point where to look to get it working again. Any thoughts on where I can poke around in a setting to fix it??

sms notification not working

Sunday 27th of October 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi all!I've been searching around on the net, for a while now, and i haven't found a solution to my problem. So i did my research before posting. My problem:When i receive an SMS message, i get no notification what so ever. I receive the text, but i have to use the top pulldown menu to see. I don't get a notification icon or a sound. It's set to give me notifications, but it doesnt... Also it looks like crap. So i want to use another app thats way better.I want to use ChompSMS. I've always used Chomp and it's really annoying that it won't work with my SGS3. I set up chomp to be the default program. By disabling notifications in the native SMS app and letting Chomp handle it.I set chomp to give notifications and i set up sms sound and icon and all that notification stuff. And i shut off the phone and turn it back on. Not just a restart. But it doesn't work at all.I still get no notifications at all. I get a sound when the text is sent, but not when i receive messages. No LED flash, no top icon, no sound, no vibration... Nothing.Another fun thing that i was wondering about. In the top l

Say command not working/instability

Tuesday 08th of July 2014 / androidforums.com
I'm trying to create a task that will read incoming texts out loud if my phone is face-down. I have two Events connected:"Received Text"Type: SMSSender: -Content: -"Orientation"Is: Face Down...followed by a task:Wait 1 secondVariable Set %LastTexter to %SMSRNVariable Set %LastMessage to %SMSRBWait 3 secondsMedia Volume level 7Say "Message from %LastTexter. %LastMessage."Media Volume Level 4For some reason, it just decides when it wants to work. I always have the profile turned on, and I have my phone face down to test it. I even turned off the orientation bit to see if that was what was messing it up, but it still only worked sometimes. My regular notification sound plays and the phone vibrates as it would for a text, but the Tasker command only triggers about 30%-40% of the time I'd say. It literally will work fine, a bit later I get another text and it doesn't work at all, another text comes in and it works. Wondering what's going wrong here?On that note, is this app still being worked on? Using this Profile as an example, I had read that you need to a
