Parrot Asteroid on a T-mobile Samsung Galaxy s 2 - Samsung Galaxy S II - Android Forum - A Community For Android Users and Enthusiasts

Wednesday 22nd of August 2012 / androidforum.com
So I called parrot to find out about the Dun feature where you can connect to the internet via bluetooth. They told me that it will not work with my Samsung and will only work with Motorola. I have tried several times with my Galaxy s2 and had no luck. He also told me that I can use USB tethering to make it work, but the carrier will charge about $25 a month. Tmobile charges about 15 a month, but of course, i dont want to pay that! I am rooted. I am wondering how I can USB tether without having to pay for it? I know there are apps like pdanet and usb tether lite but the problem that I am facing is that it requires me to install the software on to my computer to use. Since it is not a computer that I am trying to connect it to, but a car stereo, I am having an issue. I thought, hey maybe I can search for an app that doesnt require me having to download any software, but thats not looking so good. So here is my question. WHAT DO I DO? does anyone know of any tethering apps that will work for me? thanks in advance for your help.

Update T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 to Darkside Evolution Android 4.0.3 ICS custom ROM

Thursday 14th of June 2012 / android.gs
The T-Mobile version of Samsung Galaxy S2 can now be updated using a new custom ROM installation that goes by the name of Darkside Evolution. Use the instructions I’ve listed in this article and you will learn how to properly update its firmware without bricking it. For this guide to be applied successfully you will have to be an advanced Android user who knows how to use a custom recovery in order to flash new ROMs.With the Darkside Evolution ICS you will get working data, wi-fi, wi-fi calling, bluetooth, wireless tethering, GPS, MMS, USB tether. This custom ROM is fast, clean, smooth and all stock Android plus multiple other custom features and functions are fully working. There isn’t any major bug reported which means that you should have any problems running it. However, it is recommended for you to create a full backup of the current installed ROM. Also, bloatware files and applications have been removed and a 5x4x5 TouchWiz modified UI launcher has been added. Now, if your device is rooted and a custom Recovery image is installed then you will be able to move to the

networking - Use Galaxy S2 / S3 as router for PC lan gaming

Saturday 20th of April 2013 / android.stackexchange.com
I have a computer with no network interfaces (the only one it had went faulty). My friend's PC's network interfaces are working fine. We want to play PC LAN games, but when I set my Galaxy phone to tether / hotspot mode, the IP of the PC connected via WIFI hotspot is out of range of the PC connected via USB tethering (the one IP is on 192.168.42.n and the other IP is on 192.168.43.n), and as such we cannot get our PC's to communicate. Is there a way to force a Galaxy S2 or S3 to put the tethering and hotspot IP's within range of each other? Our phones are rooted.

Nexus 7 pairs but won't connect to my Galaxy S2

Saturday 27th of April 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with Sprint as the provider. I bought a Nexus 7 2 days ago and on initial setup, it worked fine and I could tether via Bluetooth through the phone. After Google had updated the N7 with all my apps etc, I tested them and all was good. The last thing I did was allow the tablet to update the OS to 4.2.2. After that when I tried to tether I got the 2 devices to pair, but they will not connect. When I go into settings on the N7, and try to check the box to allow it to use Bluetooth for internet access, it will not "take" or work. I have reset and rebooted both devices. Since I use Sprint, I can't use FoxFi, etc. Any solutions or fixes before I reset and take the N7 back for a refund?ThanksThaine ETA moot point now. I returned it today and received a full refund. I would still like to know if there is a solution. I intend to purchase another thru a major chain and will just not let it upgrade the OS until they have a solution. I don't mind hacking/modifying, but think it is absurd to have to do it with an out of the box new item to get it to work as adv

what is best solution to get internet on Acer Iconia A500 using the Galaxy S2

Saturday 22nd of September 2012 / androidtablets.net
I have a Galaxy S2(unlimited data with Sprint) and an Acer Iconia A500 and want to tether or use wifi to get internet on the Acer. I have tried Foxfi and easy Tether. Neither seems to work or I have not set it up properly. I am trying Pdanet too but can't get that to work wither. Please offer a solution step by step . This would probably help many others too. THANKS I am guessing I set it up wrong. I know Sprint stopped the Foxfi hotspot from working recently. Can this be the reason everything is not working?

How do you "tether" 10.1 to Galaxy S2 ?

Friday 20th of July 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi Guys, I own a Galaxy Tab 10.1, WiFi only. 90% of the time I use it at home via my home WiFi. However, sometimes when out and about I would like to be able to connect to the internet when there is no WiFi available, like in the office without connecting to the corporate WiFi. How do I connect it through my Galaxy S2 phone? Please understand, I am completely non-techy so need simple (dummy!) instructions! And PLEASE don't say "you should have bought the Tab 10.1 3G"! It was too expensive at the time!

Galaxy S2 is NOT USB TETHERING ANYMORE :(

Monday 08th of July 2013 / androidforums.com
kay guys I am using a Rooted Samsung Galaxy S2, on gingerbread. I use it for tethering... Unfortunately the wirless tehering on it has always been crap, as it drops after a while and I need to restart it every so often. So I never tether with it Wireless for that reason. However the USB tethering has always been FLAWLESS. Never had a problem, doesnt drop connection etc. Just recentlly it wont allow me to connect via USB anymore. The 'USB tethering' under the Tethering and hotspot option is greyed out. So I can't check it anymore Also when i connect the USB to my PC, the phone charges etc , but it wont allow me to access the stuff of my phone via the computer. I have Kias installed on my machine (which I re installed a couple of times) I have tried 3 different USB Cables, they all work I have master factory resetted the phone on 2 occasions. I have tried on a different USB ports and different computers. I have tried using with / without USB debugging I am still facing the same problem Could anybody please shed some light on how to resolve this issue??

Galaxy 3 Quesions for Root and Tethering

Sunday 19th of January 2014 / androidforums.com
I recently bought a Galaxy 3 4.3 from Boost to replace a Galaxy 2 I owned. My phone was stolen 1st of the 2014 year so I need a new phone. I had an old thread here is the link as to where I left off with my old phone......So how good is Galaxy S2 as a tethering device?I wanted to use this new phone for a tethering device and so far it looks like I cant buy a hotspot option from Boost and my first attempts to get any app to tether without root is going nowhere. At present I would have preferred to not root phone as no desire for ROMS and any Apps I use I purchased.I hoping you guys can lead me to the best way to get this phone working as I need. I would not mind rooting if I can rollback the system If and when the Official 4.4 Kitkat come out.I would not be able to use the backup software that requirs root as well but its not a deal breaker if I can just be able to tether device.I gonna get this thread started and see where it takes me and can answer any questions to get tethered.
