Busybox version problem?

Monday 25th of June 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Okay, I'm a little unsure where to begin. I've got a Fascinate (SCH-i500) running 2.3.5, for what it's worth. This isn't a phone specific thing though. I recently rooted my phone via Odin and su 2.3.6.1.x.zip. I then installed Titanium backup lite, and bought ROM-toolbox by JRummy. I froze the crap apps like Bing with the latter, and did a full backup with Titanium Backup. (I noticed some things in rom-toolbox didn't seem to work, like CPU adjustments, but figured that's due to the stock kernel in my SCH-i500. So far so good. The next morning, there's a message that the su binary is outdated, and should be 3.0.32. I tried to update it but it failed, saying: Downloading manifest... okayparsing manifest... okaylatest version= 3.0.3.2Checking installed version= 2.3.1-efclicked updateFixing database... okayChecking for busybox... okaychecking current install path... /system/xbin/suDownloading new binary... okayChecking md5sum... okayGaining root access... okayRemounting /system as rw... okayCopying su to /system... fail So, looking around on the net, I found this thread: The suggestio

SU Binary Updater remount error

Monday 16th of April 2012 / androidforums.com
The su binary update goes through fine accept for one part:Remounting /system as ro... fail!Failed to remount the system as read-only,please reboot to finish the updateI have only run into an issue with it when a third party add-on for Tasker needed root and it attempted to remount the system, it crashed. So to fix the problem, I tried doing a 100% clean restore using the updater tool, re-rooted and tried again... same problem. Is it just my phone? The binary is updated and super user access for apps works fine (accept as mentioned above), but does anyone else have this problem or know of a fix?

I got it! I got it! I don't got it.

Saturday 11th of February 2012 / androidforums.com
First, thanks for all the great root info. It worked perfectly, right up to the point where it all went horribly wrong (I'm exaggerating. At least the phone still works). I used the one click root and it seemed to go very well. I didn't have Superuser installed BEFORE using it, but upon installing it after the fact, everything looked good. I added BusyBox and things were still good. Within a minute, however, I was prompted to update the SU binary, and, not knowing at the time that this was a BAD thing, I did so. Now I've gone through several levels of removing all this software in an attempt to start from the beginning, up to and including a hard reset of the phone. ...not happenin'. Each time I try to run the one click, I get something similar to this: failed to copy 'su' to '/system/xbin/su': No space left on deviceUnable to chmod /system/xbin/su: No such file or directorylink failed File exists Sometimes there's also mention of "read only". BusyBox won't run because it says it can't find the SU binary, SuperUser can't update itself out of this hole for the same reason. I

[SOLVED]Fire rooted, but apps cannot get root access.

Sunday 04th of March 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
I followed the tutorial and no errors were found. It has not been working since and I've been searching threw webpage after webpage for the answer. adb returns rooted, but apps can't get access. I have superuser, but I believe it is malfunctioning. I went into superuser and opened "Preferences>Su binary vnull" and it asked me if I wanted to update. I pressed the update button and it showed this exactly: Code: Downloading manifest... okay!Parsing manifest... okay!Latest version = 3.0.3.2Checking installed version = legacyFixing database... okay!Checking for busybox... not foundDownloading custom busybox... okay!Checking md5sum... okay!Checking current install path... fail!Failed to find currently installed su binary. Update cannot continue Any help?

SuperSU binary update fails

Monday 09th of September 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi all,Galaxy Nexus.. Running Android 4.3 Build-JWR66V, rooted, using SuperSU. Few weeks ago I got an update which increments the build to JWRR6Y, which failed to install every time I tried. Then I read that there are still a few problems with root on 4.3.After the SuperSU was updated (which foxes the problem) i opened the app and it said that SU binary needs to be updated, I agreed to continue...Chose "Normal" and waited around 8 minutes without any luck, restated tried again without any luck...Chose the other method which restarted my phone into recovery mode, which ended with an error... Can anyone please help me out with this issue, I've searched the internet getting nothing really worth the fox that I'm looking for... Thanks. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
