Verizon: The Simultaneous Data/Voice Problem

Tuesday 06th of April 2010 / android.net
The Verizon vs. At&t ad wars frequently highlight how At&t can accommodate data and voice activity simultaneously (ie: surfing the web while on a phone call) because of GSM while Verizon and its CDMA network cannot accommodate both of these activities at the same time. Though I RARELY surf and talk at the same time I do often use my iPhone to stream music and I would absolutely HATE it if that caused incoming calls to go straight to voicemail. Here's my question, and perhaps a Verizon Droid owner would be best positioned to answer this: "If you are on your Droid and streaming music from Pandora or actively loading a webpage in your browser and you receive an incoming call does it just interrupt your data activity or does this call go straight to voicemail? I am hoping the result is that the call interrupts the data connection. This concerns me because I remember when I had the original iPhone, pre 3G, At&t could not handle both data and voice simultaneously and calls would actually go straight to voicemail if you were streaming data. Not a desirable behavior. I just

I DELETED my voicemail number by accident (PLEASE HELP)

Saturday 05th of January 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello all, I just got a Nexus 4 and activated it with a Straighttalk (at&t) SIMS card. I have been using Straighttalk for a while now and simply moved my cell # to this phone. I love the Nexus 4 so far although while I did something pretty silly.... I was messing around with the voicemail settings I accidentally deleted the Voicemail Number that was on the phone. Now whenever I try to call my phone a voice message comes up which says "Sorry the person you have called does not have voice box set up ect...." Mind you that I did have a voicemail box set-up before I deleted this voicemail number on the phone. I have tried to replace the "Voicemail #" with my own cell phone number but that does not help. Also I have tried just holding down the number 1 but that same message comes up. When I call *86 it says "message cannot be completed as dialed"..... IS THERE ANYWAY TO FIND OUT WHAT MY VOICEMAIL NUMBER IS? Any information or suggestions would be HUGELY appreciated... I spent three very frustrating hours talking to some guy from straight talk about this

Anyone using Nexus 4 on Straight Talk? - Page 6

If I port from my Sprint (I currently have Sprint intergration) to GV, how does it handle sending calls to my new tmobile phone? Does it work via the app, or do i have to explicitly add that phone's number? When you port, you are terminating the previous carrier service. There will be no Sprint voicemail to cancel because there will be no Sprint service. By porting, you are leaving Sprint as a carrier.Once you port your Sprint number to GV, you still need a carrier of some sort in order to have cellular service. Your new T-Mobile service will come with its own phone number. Your old Sprint number will become your new Google Voice number. You will set things up as you would have pri

Best visual voicemail on Straight Talk

Tuesday 18th of September 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
We're transitioning from an iPhone 4 on AT&T to a Galaxy Nexus on Straight Talk (ST). We miss visual voice-mail. Which one are you using and what are the pros and cons? Currently we're evaluating YouMail; it seems OK, but not great. The major complaint is that it keeps nagging us that we haven't entered personal data into their profile. Why do they need it?Pete

HTC Inspire to Straight Talk?

Monday 10th of June 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Okay, I bought an HTC Inspire and I already had a Straight Talk SIM Card. I inserted the SIM into the Inspire. It will read the SIM card, and it even tells me I have a voicemail, but it says I have no service and it won't let me call or text. I thought maybe the phone just wasn't unlocked, so I was going to buy an unlock code for it, but it doesn't have a SIM Unlock request or anything for me to enter the code in. I checked to see if it was on airplane mode or something but it's not. So, does anyone know whats wrong with it? Thanks.
