Android phones OK with Department of Defense for top-secret information

Thursday 28th of February 2013 / talkandroid.com
If you have seen one of Samsung’s recent zombie unicorn commercials for their Samsung Galaxy Note II, you may have noted the references to their SAFE standard for device security. Ensuring security on mobile devices is not just for enterprises that don’t want their latest game to leak to the public. Security issues take on a much more important role at the U.S. Department of Defense where top-secret information flows within the walls of the agency. It appears the Department of Defense is on the verge of changing a policy that limited secure mobile device approval to Blackberry devices and will open the door to some Android devices.//According to reports, the door will not be opened to just any Android device. Instead, the Department of Defense is screening the devices that will be allowed with only top-tier devices appearing to make the cut. This is good news for Android device manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, and Motorola and should encourage them to continue their efforts to implement strong, secure standards on their devices.Currently, the majority of mobile

Verizon Announces New Prepaid Unlimited Talk and Text Plan that Comes with 1GB of Data for $80

Monday 30th of April 2012 / talkandroid.com
There is a new 3G prepaid plan arriving tomorrow that Verizon will be offering. It looks to be pretty good as it will feature unlimited talk and text with the added benefit of 1GB of data thrown in. You can get this all for $80 per month and no contract. Unlimited Mobile-to-mobile calls are inherent of the current prepaid plans but it’s suggested that Unlimited Talk will consist of being able to call any phone, anywhere. In the announcement Big Red also added some prepaid mobile broadband options to choose from. They include://· $15 for 250 MB of data weekly· $60 for 3 GB of data monthly· $90 for 10 GB of data monthlyHit the break below for the press release if you’re interested in reading more. While we will have to wait until tomorrow for this plan to go into effect, unlimited talk and text with a gig of data thrown in is not too shabby, although, it still doesn’t have Boost Mobile beat when it comes to unlimited prepaid plans.  Here’s hoping though that unlimited talk means being able to call anyone and everyone! Disappointed with lack of outlook notes and tasks support as a recent webos convert

Saturday 17th of December 2011 / androidforums.com
Well, i've had my Nexus S2 for 2 days now and must saythat ass a new convert to android that i'm very disappointed:First, there really is no way to gracefully sync with my outlook tasks and notes. That's a show stopper for me and others that I work with.Next, lack of ability to integrate emails with gmail into one common email client.Next, poor support for MS Exchange email and calendar integration again into one place. These are all very serious limitations as compared to my old webos (obsolete). I'm going back to my pre 3 as it meets all these needs unless someone can tell me that i'm wrong.Yeah there are a lot of cool apps but of what use are they if I can't do any of my activities of daily living...

Samsung acknowledges lack of documentation for Exynos SoC

Wednesday 10th of October 2012 / androidauthority.com
Given Samsung’s penchant for giving away the source codes of its Android devices and making them publicly available to download, we can easily categorize Samsung as one of the more hacker-friendly Android manufacturers. But is it really the case? Some developers beg to differ — at least when it comes to devices that sport Samsung’s Exynos processor, such as the international version of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, which our sister publication has laid out in a recent post. In short, crafting a fully functioning custom ROM on Exynos-powered devices is a much harder endeavor due to the lack of documentation for the SoC for which “not a single line of code is available or has been leaked.”The good news is Samsung has not turned a deaf ear to the complaints and has responded to the issue. As reported by XDA-developers, here’s a recent tweet posted on Samsung Exynos account:We hear your concerns about documentation & source code for Exynos-based devices. We're discussing it with our team and will update you soon— SamsungExynos (@SamsungExynos) October 9, 20

A couple of cases for the 7127

Monday 20th of February 2012 / androidtablets.net
I have purchased a couple of cases I am pretty happy with:HDE 7" Tablet Stand with USB Keyboard - Black Faux Leather Carrying Case - This one is nice if you want a built in keyboard, the action the on the keyboard is very good but of course because there is a keyboard it makes the whole thing a little larger to carry around. For me this works when I know I need to do a lot of typing.Navitech Genuine Black Napa Leather Flip Open 7 Inch Book Style Carry Case / Cover for the Coby Kyros MID 7010, 7010C, 7013, 7018, 7001, 7012, 7016, 7022, 7120, 7125, 7127, 7024, 7026, 7027, 7037 - I got this one a week or so ago because I wanted something slimmer for everyday use. I was impressed with the fit and feel for the price. This has elastic corner straps to hold in place and one does go over the power button but does not interfere with it's function. I got both of these at Amazon.Todd

I'm beginning to get annoyed with the lack of popularity for the Sensation here!

Saturday 18th of June 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
ATTENTION ANDROID MODS, why is the Sensation absent on the main page!!!! This phone is better than the Evo 4G, Thunderbolt, Droid Charge, Atrix 4G, and Infuse 4G. Why do you cater to Verizon and Sprint!!!!??? Can the sensation please get its place on the main page so perhaps it can gain popularity and perhaps get T-Mobile some new customers. By the way, I'm referring to the accessory store.
