Slow WiFi speeds with my Note 10.1

Monday 11th of March 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
This is a preliminary question that may generate more questions for me to answer. I have noticed on many occasions that Internet speeds seems to be slow on my note. When I run speedtest on both my Note and my phone, my Note frequently gets half the download and upload speed that my phone does. I have also noticed quite often that when I look at the WiFi network list on my Note it often says that it is scanning, even when it is connected to a network. I rarely connect to a network other than my home, so I am not sure if this issue is specific to my home network. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should look for on my home router or on my Note that may explain this? Thanks for any help.

Getting really slow 3g speeds on N1 with T-zones?

Friday 12th of November 2010 / android.net
Hi everyone I've been using my N1 on T-mobile for a couple of months now and never really complained about my internet speed because I'm on a grandfathered 5.99 T-Zones plan. However, I've been reading around on some forums and heard people say that they get full 3g speeds (1+ mbps) on their N1s with the 5.99 T-Zones. Using the speedtest.net android app, I've never been able to break 1 mbps (my highest was .7 mbps) and I've ran the tests in Santa Barbara and Fountain Valley CA, both of which should have 3g speeds according to T-mobile's website. I bought the phone on ebay and its on version 2.2 without any mods but the phone or bootloader is unlocked (I'm not that good with terms but when I restart my phone the lock on the bottom is unlocked, so whatever that means) and the status bar on the top of the screen does say I'm on 3g. Does anyone know whats causing my slow speeds? Is it because I'm on the 5.99 T-Zones plan and will upgrading to the unlimited data plan fix my problem? Thanks for your help.

Slow WiFi on Razr Maxx

Sunday 09th of September 2012 / androidforums.com
I'm having weird issues with my Razr Maxx (4.0.4) when it's connected to my home wifi. The router itself is in my roommate's room so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get you the specs on it, but I think it's an older linksys. Anyway, the phone has no problems actually connecting to the network and maintaining the connection. I just get REALLY slow speeds with several apps. Downloading apps from the Google store takes forever, for example. Performing a search in Google Maps also takes a really long time to return results and the speech-to-text function never works (I assume because it has to connect to the online database). Oddly, my browser (Dolphin) seems to run just fine and at normal speeds, so maybe it's just Google services.I ONLY have these speed issues on my home wifi. 4g and 3g are just fine as are every other wifi network I've connected to. Also, internet speeds on my laptop while connected to the network are completely normal.I just wanted to know if anyone out there has any idea what the problem could be and if there's a way to fix it. Could there be settings on the rou

slow internet speeds

Friday 24th of June 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
My download speeds have been terrible with this new phone both today and yesterday. So I started doing some speedtests from speedtest.net and the sores were really low comparedto what i got with my old phone. I am from Munice,IN 47304 and have full bars at 3G and below are my results at different times this evening and as you can seeupload speed beats download every time but again these speeds aren't anything to desire. It has taken forever to download /update phone software& app but there have been a few times were it seemed to speed upbut I didn't do any speed test at those timesspeed tests-all are MbpsTime Dload Uload Ping9:05. .06. .26 66610:00. .13 .36 30010:45. .08 .22 67911:10. .39 .40 269 I feell like I'm back at ancient dial up but they are worse then that evenIs this a phone issue or Sprint? Like I said though occasionaly speedhas been better and next time I will run tests again when better speeds. At any rate I'm going to Sprint tomorrow to check with them and run two phones side by side

How to get 3g or better on s2 international on ATT?

Tuesday 07th of August 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi,Visiting the US and i have an unlocked galaxy s2 LTE originally from korea which i loaded with an ATT sim. I had used it in the Philippines on different networks there and it did 3g speeds on all networks.Model number is SHV-E110S and it was upgraded thru Kies to 4.0.4.With the ATT sim, Calling and texting are functional but for some reason, the mobile network type is only gprs which results to the phone delivering very slow internet speeds. Tinkered around with the apn using just about every apn setting i've seen here and the xda forums but still mobile network type remains gprs.Interestingly, i tried the sim in another samsung phone from ATT and the mobile network type displayed was hsdpa. I switched sims from that phone to my shv-e110s and still my phone's mobile network settings remained at gprs. So i think the sim is not the problem but the phone. How can i tweak the phone so that i can get better internet speeds? I need the speed because i want to use the hotspot function of the phone to share with my family while we are on the road here in the US. Any help would be deeply ap

Why do people think they need such fast internet speeds?

Tuesday 23rd of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I was wondering if someone can shed some light on a topic that has confused me for a while. I often read forums and notice people saying something like regular wifi is too slow for me, or that particular handset only downloads at 12mb/s and I need something that downloads at 100mb/s. So why does someone need too pay a premium for such a faster speed to open up simple web pages or play with apps or stream video? Even when i'm at work people say the wifi is slow but when I open up a web page it loads right away, I don't get it. So does that mean if I used 4g my webpage would be loaded before I even type in an web address? lol. Another thing I don't get is that I download around 500gb of torrents a month at home and the internet speed doesn't have such a great impact. I can have internet that downloads at 1gb/s but if there are no seeders of a particular torrent, I may only get a 1mb/s download speed, so paying for an even faster internet would make no sense.
