Droid - apps that start on their own.

Tuesday 10th of November 2009 / everythingandroid.org
I use advanced app killer and while the app does a great job it's somewhat troubling to see the amount of apps that start on their own. I can only assume that with that many apps running it's slowing down the phone and using more battery power. Is there a way to prevent all these different apps from starting?

Is Google Working on Their Own Native Gaming Center With Google+ at the Center?

Thursday 10th of May 2012 / androidheadlines.com
Google is looking to improve a few of their services in the near future, and in this case: build a new one. Google+ has had a gaming center for a while now, whether or not it gets used as much as Google wants it to is another story. But now, rumor is that Google is looking to expand that into a full fledged Android Gaming hub. Most likely taking a few cues from Apple’s Game Center, users will be able to read leaderboards with friend’s scores and battle against them to try and beat their numbers and times. Since it’s heading towards social it would be only obvious to use Google+ as a center of all this. Could we hear more about this when we learn about the Nexus tablet later …Continue Reading HereIs Google Working on Their Own Native Gaming Center With Google+ at the Center? – droid-life.com

Samsung and Mozilla Are Working on Their Own Mobile Browser Engine

Wednesday 03rd of April 2013 / androidheadlines.com
More than ever, it looks like the web is going to be the future of computing and of course, the mobile web will be pushing that more than anything else. For instance, open up that Ultrabook or head to your Desktop, and then see how much you do outside of the browser. Take me, for example, there are around 3 apps I use outside of Google Chrome on a daily basis, Steam, Origin and Minecraft. Everything else I get done inside of Chrome, and I’m not even a typical user, I like to play games with a mouse and keyboard, weird right? So, with users relying on the web more than anything else these days, it stands to reason that companies will want to invest more in making the most of the web on their devices. To that end, Samsung has teamed up with Mozilla to work on their own browser engine, named “Servo” it’s being built on a new programming language dubbed, “Rust”. Both Servo and Rust are being built from the ground-up to take advantage of multi-core hardware and avoid all of the bugs and security vulnerability that we’re experiencing now. You can do

Random apps opening up on their own

Saturday 06th of November 2010 / droidforums.net
Ever since I did the latest software I have random apps opening up on their own and running in the background draining my battery. They are apps that I don't even use and can't uninstall them either. Is anyone else encountering this problem or does anyone have any fixes? Thanks.Sent from my ADR6300 using DroidForums App

apps keep autostarting on their own, even after being killed

Sunday 13th of June 2010 / droidforums.net
i have a moto droid running 2.1, which i got as a replacement about a week and a half ago. i was playing parallel kingdom today for long enough to kill the battery, and after i got it charged (ie, it said "fully charged" when i turned on the screen), it would only stay on for a few seconds before shutting off. i eventually got my task killer open, and about half of my apps were running, including apps i never even use, like voice dialer and mp3 store. i killed all those, and then the phone shut off again, showing a completely dead battery. after i got it back on again, a ton of apps were running on their own again, and after i killed them, a bunch more came back.what the hell? right now, it's charging and hasn't shut down, but a bunch of apps keep autostarting, even after i kill them. does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? i'd rather not replace my phone yet again. : /if it helps, here are the apps that are currently autostarting that shouldn't be:com.google.android.providers.gmailMP3 storecorporate calendarcom.google.android.apps.uploadercom.android.providers.drmcom.

services starting on their own, eating battery!

Thursday 07th of March 2013 / androidforums.com
hi,last 2 weeks I have observed that my battery doesnt get charged evrn after connecting it for 6hrs, charges by max of 10-15% !!! :-( The phone heats up after 10 mins of operation and battety drops 50% within that 10mins :-( -services like google play store , Google Maps and Gmail update on their own when I have deselected auto updates off-if I disable FM radio and Google Maps they continues to run in the background. -also some 'DSMLawmo' service is active in the background, if I manually kill it then around 30-40MB of RAM space gets free.once I uninstall the updates and kill the processes only then the phone comes back to normal temperature, however after sometimes these services start again and phone goes slow and hot :-( i really need some help here as its causing immense problems. using standard wall charger provided by samsung and taking care of the handset. These software glitches are making me loose interest in android :-( pls help !!!

Android Forums - View Single Post - Support services starting on their own, eating battery!

Saturday 09th of March 2013 / androidforums.com
HiI have searched the net on “DSMlawmo”. There were plenty of questions from people who consider it a problem but I found very little concrete information regarding it and certainly no proven solutions .For what it is worth, my conclusion is that it seems to be something to do with the Samsung Dive service. I suggest that you logon to Find my mobile | Samsung Content & Services on a PC and ensure that all Dive functions such as Tracking and Call / Message forwarding are disabled. I have not tried doing so but it might be worthwhile removing your phone number or giving it a false one. I hope there is something that you can do with this lead and would be very interested to hear how you get on.Search results :Possibly the most authoritative lead was at http://www.contextis.com/files/tabletsintheenterprise.pdf and I quote from page 25:- “The vulnerability could be exploited by creating an arbitrary application that could send broadcast intents such as those listed below: • android.intent.action.dsm.DM_FACTORY_RESET • android.intent.action.dsm.DM_FORWARD

Apps and games restart on their own.

Monday 13th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey guys. so recently a few of my apps and games just restart on their own while im busy. one app for example is autocad 360, when i view one of drawings and then go back to see a list of drawings it will restart, so therefor the only way i can change drawings is to let keep restarting, which is a pain. as for the games just 2 examples angry birds and fruit ninja, after i have completed a level or round the games restart and i then i have to go select the next level i just unlocked. this is a real pain and need to get this sorted. this is what i have tried so far, i have searched for and removed all viruses. i have restarted the phone and pulled the battery.i have a galaxy s3 with android 4.1.2.any help will be appreciated.
