When offered to preview Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S offering, the SPH-D700, also known as the Epic 4G, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. While my first personal-use Android device was the Nexus One, I’ve handled my share of Android smartphones, and my history of smartphone use has included several Samsung phones over the years. This being the first Galaxy S device I’ve personally handled, I’m glad to say that Samsung does not disappoint, and I can highly recommend the device to users who need a physical keyboard and can sign up for a contract with Sprint.Update #1: added a 720P video sample.

Samsung Epic 4G Hits the FCC

Wednesday 21st of July 2010 / phandroid.com
Sprint’s version of the Galaxy S – the Samsung EPIC 4G – has finally hit the FCC. We’re well on our way to a release date if history is anything to model after. While there wasn’t much to be had from the filing, the description has the device carrying CDMA, EVDO, and WiMAX radios. That combination can only mean one thing: a new 4G phone from Sprint. The model number also gives itself away – the SPH-D700 is no doubt a Samsung device. With two out of the four major US carriers already having launched their Galaxy S phones, we’re still waiting for the CDMA guys – Verizon and Sprint – to land their spacecraft in our backyard. For Sprint, this FCC approval brings us that much closer.[FCC via Engadget]

Samsung Galaxy S 4g (sprint sph-d700)

Thursday 16th of August 2012 / androidforums.com
Total newb here.Recently my phone (Samsung Galaxy S 4g (sprint sph-d700)) started crashing randomly. After doing so it would take about 15-20 minutes to boot up and would be frozen with a wrong date and time. The only way to reboot it being pulling the battery. After many many attempts it would finally boot as normal. After a recent occurrence of this, my phone never recovered. I found a video of how to put it into recovery mode, and succeeded. The problem is, although I can scroll through the options none of the buttons on the phone work to actually choose an option. The phone is now stuck in this mode and reboots to it with the same problem.I have perused many threads and videos online but can't seem to find any that match my model and problem. I've downloaded odin 1.85 and samsung kies but they don't seem to be able to find my phone. Granted, i have no idea what I'm doing. The closest thing I found was a video on youtube with the following steps:Start OdinPlug USB into computerRemove battery and SD card from phonePlug USB into phone while holding down both volume buttonsPuts phone i

Epic 4G makes its way through FCC

Tuesday 20th of July 2010 / android.net
Those of you eagerly waiting for Sprint's 4G version of the Galaxy S, we have just received some good news. As of July 20th, a smartphone with CDMA, EVDO, and WiMAX radios passed through the FCC, and suffice it to say, that device the Epic 4g. Currently, information on the Epic 4G is scarce, as the FCC has kept most of the documentation under wraps, thanks to a pesky confidentiality statement. However, the one drawing we were able to grab, (not-so-clearly) shows a "SPH-D700" model number, which is the Epic 4G. We are still unsure of the Epic 4G's launch date, but at least we are one step closer to having this Hummingbird-powered beaut hit the streets. So, anyone looking forward to the Samsung Epic 4G? Let us know.via PhandroidSource FCC
