Rooting is as easy as running a running a fully automated “run.bat” file on a Windows machine and kicking back. The Sony Tablet S now joins the ranks of Android’s elite “root family,” making custom ROMs and software tweaks a reality. Providing, development persists. The easy how-to can be found below for those interested. As always, root with caution and if something goes wrong, you have no one to blame but yourself. You can root your device with the following steps:Ensure your device is in USB debugging mode, is connected to your PC, and that ADB works. Instructions on this are available in this thread hereDownload the exploit hereUnzip the full contents of the zip.Run “run.bat”Like most root methods, it’s good until Sony, God forbid, patches up the exploit, so, in the meantime, you may want to stay clear of any OTA updates that may push to your device in the near futur

Rooting the Sony Tablet S

Friday 28th of October 2011 / androidtablets.net
Hello my name is nick and I am new to the forums here. This is my first tablet, but definately not my first android device. I am a cellphone repair tech and am interested in rooting my super cool Sony Tablet S. (Which is amazing btw...) I understand from what I have read from the android 3.2 tech sheets that the only way to reroute the dns to another host is to gain superuser access. So my obvious first question is has anyone sucessfully rooted the tablet s on 3.2 and if not is there anyone working on it that would like some assistance? Sony Tablet S finally rooted thanks to software exploit

Wednesday 08th of February 2012 / androidheadlines.com
For the Android rooting and hacking community, the Sony Tablet S has been a tough nut to crack. Locked down with some pretty aggressive security controls, those wanting root access on the device have been, until now, out of luck. That changes with the release of the first rooting exploit for the Tablet S, created by Linux hacker Dan “djrbliss” Rosenberg of Vulnfactory.org. Dan's root method is a relatively easy one-click process — simply put your tablet in USB debugging mode, then run the Windows batch file contained within the exploit pack. Dan notes that the exp…Continue Reading HereSony Tablet S finally rooted thanks to software exploitAlex Dobie – androidcentral.com

Dan Rosenberg Roots The Sony Tablet S

Wednesday 08th of February 2012 / talkandroid.com
Dan Rosenberg, the same tech genius that brought us root for our Lenovo ThinkPad Tablets, has struck gold again, rooting the Sony Tablet S. Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t nearly as easy as it was for the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet. He’s posted the whole process in detail on his blog, so check out the source. It’s a really interesting read, and can provide insight into what happens when you choose to root your device. Keep in mind that rooting your device and the subsequent activities that are made possible by doing so can possibly brick your device. Do so at your own risk!Source: Dan Rosenberg» See more articles by Josh O’Donnell//

However, for eager Tablet S owners who want a little more control over their device, the fact that any software version is rootable will be welcome news. If you want to be one of the first to root your Tablet S, you can grab the exploit file from the source link below.Source: XDA; Thanks, jeffreytz!

[ROOT][HOW-TO][XPERIA TABLET S] How to root your Xperia Tablet S running Jellybean 4.1.1

Thursday 06th of June 2013 / androidforums.com
The Xperia Tablet S can now be rooted! This how to is probably a lot longer than it needs to be, basically there are only 4 steps, but I tried to be as detailed as possible.Note that I didn't actually discover any of this on my own, I am merely passing on found information, most of which I found over at XDA.Thanks goes to Matt Hill, Dan Rosenberg, andrewia, condi, dex9mm, and xxliftsupxx who either supplied the necessary files and programs or just led me to this information! More thanks to anyone I missed!Basically this is possible because our SPGT12's use the same kernel as the Asus Transformer which already has a working root method.DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! AS YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW, ROOTING VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY AND THIS TABLET DOES NOT HAVE MUCH IN THE WAY OF RECOVERY!!!That said, this worked for me, and this is how I did it.read the instructions all the way through first so you can get and unzip the necessary files and programs before you begin rooting your tablet1. First, you will need to install ADB drivers on your computer which you can get here - Sony Tablet ADB Driver Ins
