Sunday 26th of June 2011 / androidtablets.net
im posting this because im sure it will be helpful to others and myselfare there any ways to make a tablet more like a tablet computer and less like a phone without rooting the device? ive noticed that often times underdeveloped tablets tend to think they are phones but without 3g this slows the tablet and makes it function less efficient. what are some simple things other than rooting to make your tablet more like a computer and less like a phone.

You can now root your phone without fear of hassle from the man

Monday 26th of July 2010 / androidcentral.com
The Library of Congress has seen fit to specifically exempt rooting and jailbreaking (for the iPhone) from the DMCA. This means that it is now 100 percent legal to root to your heart's content without fear of legal action taken against you. Check out the exact wording:"Computer programs that enable wireless telephone handsets to execute software applications, where circumvention is accomplished for the sole purpose of enabling interoperability of such applications, when they have been lawfully obtained, with computer programs on the telephone handset."This does not mean that HTC, Motorola, and other manufactures can't (or won't) continue to try to keep their devices locked down; it just means they can't sic the lawyers on you if you do choose to root. So, why not head into the Android Central forums and get your hack on? Check out the full legal wording after the break. Root without computer

Tuesday 20th of March 2012 / androidforums.com
Greetings forum. I've been reading and searching but cannot find a definite answer to this question. Is there a method of rooting this phone without a computer? I have no charge port in my phone. It wasn't working so when I opened the case to solder wires for the touchstone mod, the port itself fell out. So, no port, no connection to a computer. I saw a youtube video doing this but I'm not sure if it will work for my phone. I am running stock 2.3.3 with hboot 2.16, am I out of luck? I'm hoping that if it was possible when that video was made, it still is.Thank you for your time and any help you can give!

USB/rooting problem

Friday 06th of July 2012 / androidforums.com
I had planned on installing clockworkmod then CM9, but I am not successful and am hoping someone can help me. I followed the instructions on this page to do the initial root:Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-I777 (AT&T): Root and ClockworkMod RecoveryWhen I plugged my phone into the computer, odin recognized my phone. I clicked on start, and odin said "file analysis" then "SetupConnection...", but no matter how long I waited (up to half an hour), it didn't say "start" or "finish" like it was supposed to until I physically unplugged it from the USB on the computer. I tried odin on 4 different USB ports on my computer, to no avail. Samsung kies would not recognize my phone either. Does anyone know a way to root the phone without connecting to a computer, or have a different fix for this? Thanks

Rooting phone WITHOUT computer

Wednesday 20th of November 2013 / androidforums.com
My Sprint Galaxy S4 is currently on Android 4.2.2 and rooted. The phone has grabbed 4.3 and is waiting for me to start the update. I know that once I do, I'm going to lose root acces though. I want to keep the phone rooted. However, I no longer have access to a pc of any sort. Is there anyway to root the phone using the phone itself? My phone is the ONLY computer like device I currently have.
