Android 2.1 update on VZW DROID causing graphic and performance problems?

Monday 05th of April 2010 / androinica.com
You got your brand new Android 2.1 update on your Moto DROID last week or over the weekend and you are just as happy as pie, right? Well according to several different sources your DROID could be experiencing some serious 2d video slowdowns.According to ZDNET, Phil Issler, an Android developer, wrote in saying that a simple graphics test program running on both a DROID with the 2.0.1 OS and one with the newest 2.1 OS has shown some unfavorable results. In Android 2.0.1 on the DROID the frames per second rate is a nice 60 fps (the “factory standard” for smooth graphics and video) while on 2.1 the fps slows down to 30. We all know that the DROID hardware can handle 3D gaming and any other effects that you throw at it, so what’s the deal with the slow down?I have experienced some of this slow down myself when live wallpapers were enabled. You can see the effects of that here. Not only have I experienced a slow down, I have also had trouble with the DROID recognizing and interfacing with my car and multimedia docks, probable battery life problems, and also the touchscr

Numerous forced closes and locking problems

Thursday 24th of February 2011 / talkandroid.com
I had been having some issues with forced closes on many apps, slowed response and also problems with start up for some time. I finally started to uninstall apps to see if one might have been causing the problem and sure enough there was one app that apparently was causing major issues on my moment. It was Alarm Clock plus V2. Once I uninstalled it my issues went away so I thought I would pass this on.

Predictive Spelling & Dictionary Solved!!!!

Friday 07th of September 2012 / androidtablets.net
So one thing that sux about these cheapo cobys is that it never seems to have a damn dictionary, which means also the predictive spelling doesnt work. After searching a while I found the files needed. Now the method I saw posted called for me to just use a root file explorer to do everything but I couldnt get one of the apks to install so I ended just have to use adb install LatinImeGoogle.apk to get that particular apk to go into system/app. If you wish to try using just the files explorer, the method calls for you to take the LatinImeGoogle.apk in your tablets system/app directory and rename it to LatinImeGoogle.apk.bak and then copy over the LatinImeGoogle.apk listed here to your system/app folder. For some reason, I couldnt copy that apk over, sometimes I ran into read only errors, sometimes I ran into no space left errors. So this is what I did and it works, any input on how to make this process easier is appreciated. The files to download for this can be found here Auto-Correct/Dictionary Fix for ICS Roms! - xda-developers as well as a howto. I am putting what I did below becau

[How To] Remove Predictive Text and Bring Back Punctuation

Sunday 15th of July 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
At the Google I/O 2012 conference, one of the touted new features of was the enhanced predictive keyboard. After a couple weeks of using 4.1 on my Galaxy Nexus, I've just about had it with the predictive text input. Although some seem to clamor for the feature with third-party keyboards like , I feel much faster at regular touch-typing. One of my biggest reasons for wanting to revert to the old keyboard style was to bring back the row of common punctuations at the top of the keyboard when hitting space after a word. Diving into the settings, I found the remedy. Simply go into Settings > Language & input > Android keyboard settings > Advanced settings > and uncheck "Next word prediction" Now, instead of seeing predictive text entries at the top of the keyboard, you'll get simple spelling corrections and then punctuation when hitting the space bar between words. Back to normal!

Phone lock button and power problems - For the past week or

Thursday 08th of November 2012 / justanswer.com
Phone lock button and power problems - For the past week or so my Galaxy S2 has been playing up. If it is on it will sometimes randomly switch itself off, and remain off until placed back on charge and then switched on. When off the charge the lock/power button sometimes does not work and the screen has to be left on, which then eventually will turn the phone off. Just curious as to whether this seems like a solely battery related issue or not, as the lock button not working every so often seems strange. Thanks.Optional Information: What have you tried so far?: De charging the battery to 0% and recharging all the way to 100%. Removing the battery for various periods of time, resetting the phone to factory default settings.

reboots and touch problems fix for people with screen protectors

Thursday 09th of June 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
soo after a long memorial holiday i woke up with 3 huge scratches on my screen....i was too worried to take the screen protector off for first few days to see if the scratches went through... soo next few days phone starts bugging out...random reboots, touch screen stop working, phone just turns itself off...i thought i just messed it up from dropping it or whatever i did that caused the scratches so after 3 days of this im thinking i gotta reflash to stock and send back to get new phone...so i take off protector and it really did protect, nothing on the screen!!! and im telling u these were huge and looked like deep scratches after taking screen protector off all of my problems disappeared...been almost week now and no problems at all so it seems like deep scratches on a screen protector can affect that touch screen detection and cause phone to bug out, restart or touch screen stop working...my guess it thinks ur touching in multiple places but not just thought id throw it out there in case anyone else in similar situation btw the screen protector was SGP Ultra Fine Anti-Fingerprin

Predictive Spelling and Dictionary Problems

Sunday 02nd of June 2013 / androidtablets.net
Hello All,Firstly I am sorry if this is not the best place to ask this question but was recommended that I did.I am currently having a problem with my ZeniThink Android tablet with Jellybean, this is that all words I type in on every application underlines itself in red implying it is not in the dictionary. I searched on the internet and found two apk's to copy to system> app folder however one will not copy which I am to believe it is a common error and that to overcome it you should ADB push. The apk's I found are LatinIme.apk and LatinImeGoogle.apk, which is the one that will not copy. (Source:Predictive Spelling & Dictionary Solved!!!!). Neither will install either.I have also read many posts on this forum, which most mention about having a rooted device. I have not rooted my device as I do not know how to and do not have a USB cable for my device which I believe will make it hard to root.I understand nothing about ADB but have been following video tutorials on YouTube and have managed to connect my device to Android SDK using WiFi as I do not have a USB cable for my table
