Possible virus on my HTC Inspire?

Wednesday 03rd of August 2011 / androidforums.com
I downloaded an app from the market (Zedge) Which basically has ringtones and wallpapers and everything.. I've been using it since last night, and i think I may have downloaded a virus with a ringtone, but now I'm not sure how to get rid of it. Basically, what my phone is doing, is every so often it will pull up the internet and connect me to some pop-up. Nothing else, just a pop up. but it happens enough to be annoying. It connects me to serve.vdopia- then a long url.. it says Ads by Vdopia and has an ad underneath. I tried 2 different anti viruses, AVG and Lookout, both of which found nada. Finally I hard factory reset my Inspire. Got nowhere. After the factory reset, it occured to me to plug it into my computer to check out the SD card and files.. Better late than never. I found a whole Zedge folder, With a Cache, Notification and Ringtones Folders. Deleted the entire folder itself, Figuring that would do the trick.. Still getting the random annoying ad. So I uninstalled everything i possibly could from my SD card minus my 700 music files, because they've always been there before

Virus/Spyware??? Pls Help

Monday 10th of June 2013 / androidforums.com
G'day guys,Ive owned a HTC One XL for a few months now and so far its been a pretty good phone. Ive come upon a problem this morning while browsing the net.I now receive a pop up every minute or so when connected to the internet. The first pop up goes to goo.gl/VL40j or something similar. It then jumps through about 5-6 sites really quickly ending up on this site:https://secure.neogames-tech.com/op/OpLobby.aspx?csi=3&LNG=~ENG&CUR=AUD&AR=160184&SKI= 0&AFI=3&PAR=25a5ef43-8f3a-48a5-98b4-9105b7e9e2b9&BD=primescratchcards.com&SDN=primescr atchcards.comIve tried googling both these pages with no luck. Ive tried clearing the internet cache and all data, disabling then re-enabling the internet app, killing apps one at a time with no luck. Im running AVG and have tried to other antivuris program scans. Just cant seem to figure out what is causing it. Do i have a virus of some sort? The only way to stop it is to disable internet all together. Please help, going nuts!

Possible Malware pop-up on tablet

Wednesday 28th of August 2013 / androidforums.com
My question: are there virus' or Malware that can put pop ups on your home screen? My story: I was using my tablet and suddenly a pop up came up on my home screen. It said that there was a virus on my "generic android device" and it suggested I go to a website and perform a scan to get rid of it. The pop up not only used the word "generic" but it didn't have any name on it. The headline was just "anti virus protection". It looked a lot like the virus/Malware pop ups I would get on my computers and once you click on it or go to the website, it starts messing with your computer. So I didn't touch it, I just pressed the home button. The pop up disappeared but my chrome browser opened and took me to a plain website that told me I have the virus "tapsnake". Which I have never downloaded nor heard of until after I googled it. And to "protect my generic android device". I closed the browser and tried to do some research on this but couldn't find any. The details: I am using a non rooted, up to date, 32g Asus nexus 7 tablet. Not sure if that

Strange Pop-Up. Virus?

Sunday 03rd of November 2013 / androidforums.com
A few days ago I was on the internet on my Samsung Galaxy S2, when I all of a sudden got a bunch of Pop-Up messages from "Lovelinks.us" and "wishink.co" telling me: "WARNING!!! You must upgrade App-Store immediately!" or something like that. There was only an "OK" option. I pressed it. I know I probably shouldn't have done that. Anyway it came up like ten times before it stopped. I wasn't on any shady sites. Only Skyrim forums, YouTube, Skyrim Wiki. Thats it. I didn't press any link either before the popups. It happened in the web browser. I was afraid it was a virus, so I did a factory reset on my phone. But AVG didn't pick anything up. So I was wondering if anyone knows what this is and how to, if possible avoid it/protect myself from it if it is a virus? Don't want to have to do a factory reset next time. Oh and I had not downloaded any app for the last 9 months or so, and the few apps I had came from Play Store.

Malware or virus problem?

Saturday 04th of January 2014 / androidforums.com
Hi all,I think I may have some malware or a virus on my Galaxy S3. My phone will randomly display pop-up ads, messages that my android is not performing and to "click here" to fix, which are more pop-up ads I'm sure. Other times I will be doing something on my phone such as typing a text or email, and the play store will pop-up prompting me to install an app. Often, browser windows open and take me to advertisements also. I've ran AVG and the Lookup app for malware and neither have found anything. Any advice?

virus?

Sunday 12th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello! New to the forum a just seeking advice really. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 and have today started receiving a pop up warning saying check your ANDROID NOW for a virus with options of cancel and ok. The pop up message only appears in Google Currents when reading The Metro *English newspaper* - it doesn't appear in any other currents section or any other part of the phone. I've virus scanned and ad network checked and there's no issues found. I've not installed any new apps recently either. Here's a screenshot if it helps pic.twitter.com/EvJzFj33ra Help would be appreciated. Cheers

IGN.com virus pop up

Sunday 12th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I noticed recently that when visiting ign.com a pop up comes up claiming that the device I'm using has a virus. I first noticed this on my 2012 Nexus 7, I then factory reset my tablet only to go back to ign.com and find the pop up still popping up. It does the same thing on my nexus 4 and my mom's Samsung Galaxy S3. (All through chrome) I loaded the site on the dolphin browser and there was no pop up. So to me it seems as this is a chrome based issue on ign's side. Can anyone verify this? It seems to only occur if your viewing the site in a non-mobile version. Should I be worried?
