New HTC Desire Firmware Update Available (2.29.405.2)

Monday 06th of December 2010 / phandroid.com
A new update is available for the HTC Desire bringing its firmware version up to 2.29.405.2. The update is only confirmed to be going out to unlocked Desire handsets for now, no word on if and when carrier-locked versions will have their go. A changelog hasn’t been provided just yet, but the 28.87MB size and word from Desire users suggests this is a simple maintenance release.Of course, some speculate it could be preparing the device for Gingerbread compatibility once that time comes, but there is nothing to suggest that just yet. You can check on the update as always through your ‘Settings/About Phone System software updates’ menu. Be warned you will need 25MB of free internal storage before the update will be granted to you.[via Androinica]

Today, HTC’s popular Desire device has received a firmware update to version v2.29.405.2. It’s yet unclear in which regions the update is available, but the new firmware release is assumed to be downloadable for most unlocked HTC Desires.Head to Settings > About phone > System software updates on your phone and tap the ‘Check now’ button to see if you’re eligible for the upgrade. It’s a 28.87MB download, and you need at least 25MB of free internal storage before installing the update, or your device will complain and refuse to install it until the adequate amount of space is available.HTC hasn’t provided a changelog yet, but this post will be updated once we know what’s new. According to comments on other sites and forums, the update is most likely a maintenance release. Have any HTC Desire owners discovered any changes or additions yet?Via [SweDroid]
