Mint App For Android Updated With A Tablet-Optimized Interface, Lets You See How Broke You Are On A Bigger Screen

Friday 01st of February 2013 / androidpolice.com
If you use Mint to manage your finances, there's a good chance that the smartphone counterpart app is one of your most launched (if you manage your finances the way I do, anyway). While using Mint on your smartphone is an ideal way to get a quick look at your finances, the entire experience left something to be desired if you fired the app up on a tablet. Until now.The new and improved tablet-friendly version of Mint is pretty spectacular, actually. As soon as you open it, you're staring at a nice overview of where your finances are at the current moment, including a pie chart breakdown of each individual category. Everyone loves pie, so everyone inherently loves pie charts, too. Right? A quick swipe of that area gives you a bar graph look at your spending over the last several months. On the right side is a quick look at your budget, account balances, and the categories in which you spend the most money. Tapping on any of the areas takes you in for a deeper look at the subject, be it spending, balances, or charts and graphs. And it all looks great on the bigger screen.Unfortunately

Need some ideas for OUYA CREATE? Try this list on for size

Tuesday 08th of January 2013 / phandroid.com
Yesterday we told you guys about OUYA CREATE, a collaborative effort between OUYA and Kill Screen to get development of new games spurred in time for the console’s launch. Up to $45,000 in prizes are up for grabs so if you’re interested in seeing how you can get in on the competition be sure to check that post out here.If you’re having trouble coming up with some ideas, though, the folks at OUYA have put together a list of different types of games you can make. The number one thing is to just make something. If your heart isn’t with a first person shooter game, that’s fine. If the AI and logic engine of a RPG is too daunting a task, that’s fine too. Make a simple puzzle game, if you want. Whatever you do, just go and code! The list of ideas OUYA put together are said to be perfect for utilizing every bit of the platform’s hardware, from the sheer power of the Tegra 3 processor down to that unique trackpad on the front of the controller. Things like game shows, games with an episodic content structure, games which feature local multiplayer and

Need some ideas for using Tasker on a tablet

Sunday 13th of March 2011 / androidforums.com
I'm a huge fan of Tasker and I use and abuse it on my phone. I've got the typical things like turning GPS/Wifi/BT on for certain apps, turning off sounds at night, giving me media apps to pick from when I plug in my headphones, etc....Now I have a NC. I'm not sure what I can do with it on a tablet. The GPS/Wifi stuff really isn't needed. My tablet (NC) doesn't have GPS and I just leave wifi on all the time anyway as I use it most at home. I don't use it to consume audio media the way I do with my phone so the headphone thing isn't needed. What can I use Tasker for on a tablet?

Meet the AT&T Pantech Flex: a budget LTE capable smartphone for just $50 on a contract

Tuesday 04th of September 2012 / androidauthority.com
Leaks and rumors that have surfaced over the past couple of weeks were a clear indication that Pantech was preparing to release an AT&T-bound mid-range smartphone by the name of the Pantech Flex. As it turns out, the smartphone previously leaked as the Pantech Magnus turns out to be exactly the Pantech Flex. Fortunately, the naming confusion is now over as AT&T and Pantech have recently officially announced that the LTE enabled Pantech Flex will reach the carrier on September 16th for just $50 on a new two-year contract.Much like the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Stellar (Verizon exclusive), the Pantech Flex is a budget 4G LTE smartphone, although a quick look over the specs sheet makes it obvious that the Flex comes with better internal components. Here they are:Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (so far, there is no word on a possible update to the latest version of Google’s OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean)4.3-inch Super AMOLED display running at a 960 x 540 (qHD) resolution256 Pixels Per Inch (PPI) density1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 SoCNo word on the amou

Advice on a tablet for my Grandparents

Wednesday 16th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone had any advice on a tablet for elderly people. I've been looking into getting a used for ~. I think a big (10") screen is better than a smaller (7") screen and the camera is ok for skyping. I also know that it will be fairly reliable compared to the 10" tablets for
