Did 3G Mobile Hotspot for DROID X and 2 Running Gingerbread Just Go Live for Free? – Droid Life

Monday 28th of March 2011 / droid-life.com
Earlier today we were poking fun at the official 3G mobile hotspot apps for the DROID X and 2 on Gingerbread because they erroneously told us to go sign-up at att.com/mywireless in order to use the service, but we should have dug deeper.  It’s now looking like the feature is free on both devices as long as you are on Gingerbread.  As far as I can tell, this hasn’t been the case up until now, so maybe with this version of Android 2.3 not being official, it’s possible that it had not been turned off yet?  As you can see in the screenshots above, I’ve successfully tethered my DX to my XOOM over 3G.If you do decide to use this, understand that we have no idea how this could affect your bill.  What we do know is that tethering really gobbles up data, so you might want to be careful.Anyone else?  Am I just out of the loop and this service has been free for a while?  Maybe they decided to make it free along with the Thunderbolt until May?And we’re talking the official 3G mobile hotspot app, not a 3rd party app like Barnacle.Cheers Robert!

3g Mobile Hotspot Service

Tuesday 01st of March 2011 / droidforums.net
I'm contemplating adding the 3g mobile hotspot service to my plan. I wanted to get some feedback from anyone who uses this service to see if it's worth paying for.I currently do not have any internet service at home and thought this might be a viable option instead of adding service through my cable company. Any suggestions or feedback is appreciated. Thanks! Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums App

Need security key for 3g Mobile Hotspot

Sunday 15th of May 2011 / androidforums.com
The 3g Mobile Hotspot was installed when I upgraded the OS on my Defy from T-Moble. The hot spot works well for my IPad2, but my laptop is asking for a security key. When I contacted T-Mobile, they tried to charge me but found their system does not recognize the 3g Mobile Hotspot being supported for their Defy. They could not give me a security key. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get the key?

Droid Incredible update coming? Said to offer 3G Mobile Hotspot app & 720p video recording

Friday 02nd of July 2010 / androinica.com
It looks like Droid Incredible users may want to be on the lookout for a software update. Except before everyone gets super excited — the update is not Android 2.2. Still, it seems like it will be decent, albeit small in terms of new features. The details are coming courtesy of Android Forums user hyp3r1 who is claiming that he received a software update two days ago which added “720p and 3G Mobile Hotspot.” And just like any good tipper, he also provided a few pics as evidence. Given that it looks like an update will be rolling out for Droid Incredible users. Then again it may not be, not yet anyway. If you really look at the complete picture you will notice the HTC branding on the Incredible. Hint, if it were a regular issue that would say Verizon. Thankfully that was confirmed in a later post in which that same user confirmed the Incredible came from a friend at HTC.Bottom line, these are two decent features but it does not seem like regular Incredible users are going to be getting this anytime soon. My reasoning, this guy is sporting an HTC test phone and receiv

3g mobile hotspot to PS3

Monday 08th of November 2010 / droidforums.net
For starters i do appologize if this is a repost. I just got the Droid 2 and i attempted to pair with my PS3 using 3g mobile hotspot. I setup the hotspot with a password using the highest security available. I do believe it is something like wep/wpa or something like that. Anyways i set it all up and the PS3 finds the phones hotspot but it says on the PS3; IP address- succeeded, Internet connection- Failed. Can anyone please help me with this? Thanks, Adam

3G Mobile Hotspot - Page 2

Does that mean if I use my phone to tether that they will allow me to go to a certain GB of usage & then start charging me? I am NOT using the 3G mobile hotspot, but supposedly I have unlimited amounts of data. However, what does that mean anymore? Note: I do not have internet access in my house anymore & ONLY use my phone & tethering on my laptop to get online now. Guess I will see in the bills to come what they do.loveally

Driod2 Global and 3G Mobile Hotspot

Tuesday 30th of November 2010 / forums.androidcentral.com
I just moved from a BB Storm2 to the Droid2 Global. One of the three most important features I need in my smartphone is tethering. From what little I had read about the Moto Droids, using them as a 3g mobile hotspot required either rooting the phone or paying extra to Verizon but it seems that the Droid2 Global has it out of the box. Has anyone else have more history/detail on this? Thanks! -steven

3g mobile hotspot

Monday 03rd of October 2011 / androidforums.com
Has anyone used their Incredible 2 as a 3G mobile hotspot? If yes, what's involved? I'm clueless about these things so wondering what exactly I need to do. I know it's an add'l charge from Verizon, yes? I have a WIFI Ipad but our home internet connection is horrible and keeps dropping out, so I'm considering going for this. Thanks for any help you can provide.
