Missing contacts - Android Phones - Android Forum - A Community For Android Users and Enthusiasts

Friday 02nd of November 2012 / androidforum.com
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but...I've noticed that some of my contacts have gone missing from my contacts list. They still exist in my phone and my settings are set to display all of my contacts (tried both phone and SIM). For example...one of my friend's information disappeared from the contacts list. I had sent her a text message a week ago so I looked in the history and there she was. I was able to edit the contact information and all of her info is still there. Even if I save it again, it will not show up in the contacts list. I don't download a lot of things to my phone and haven't "modified" it in anyway. I do try to keep up with the updates for what I do have on it though. This is very frustrating.

Loss of Contacts when unsyncing Facebook for Android

Thursday 31st of January 2013 / androidforums.com
Hello all.I am new to the forum and I have done many many google searches to try to find out if what I'm asking about is common or if there is some sort of fix or recovery for my problem.Problem: I unsynced Facebook for Android. I had joined several contacts in my phonebook/contact list on my phone for obvious ease of use.I am now missing contacts from my phone that were entered independently from a Facebook contact. This has happened to me twice now. Once because I had to replace my Galaxy S2 with a new Galaxy S2 and now because I dislike the Facebook app for android and decided to download the Friendcaster app and sync that with my phone instead.I have T-mobile service who boasts some sort of contacts backup system but I cannot figure out where that information is stored or how to access itI do not know I am missing phone numbers until I go to call people. The information in my Google Contacts on my computer should be syncing to my phone so I do not understand why the numbers have also disappeared from there.I would sincerely be grateful for any help. Even a link to a forum that has

Help - contacts icon disappeared

Thursday 28th of October 2010 / androidforums.com
Hi,I have a Samsung Galaxy S, international version, not SIM-locked, not rooted, running Android 2.1-update1. Today I suddenly noticed that my Contacts icon has disappeared from the bottom bar (so I'm not talking about any widgets or shortcuts which the user can manipulate, it's the one which is supposed to sit between the Phone and Messaging icons). The contact data hasn't gone anywhere, I can access contacts through the Phone app, but the missing Contacts icon still bothers me.I have updated a bunch of apps recently - all of which I have used for a long time before without any problems, such as: Advanced Task Cleaner Pro, Smart Keyboard, Layar, Google Maps, KeePassDroid, Retro Camera and maybe something else too. Today I also erased the trial version of the dictionary app SlovoEd Deluxe and installed the paid version. Now, should I try to erase the (free) apps one by one to see if that solves the problem, or do I have to go for a hard reset/return to factory settings straight away? Any ideas?Grateful for your help.

Enormous problems since update, please help!

Sunday 06th of March 2011 / android.net
I updated to Gingerbread manually through xda last week. Seemed to be fine for a few days though some of my apps are being flaky.Last night, my call log suddenly went blank and my contacts disappeared. The auto-synch had been disabled. I thought I might have clicked something bad but then later it happened again and my desktop wallpaper was reset from my custom one to the blades of grass one. Then everything went to hell. I kept getting messages making me force-close everything on the phone including core Android processes. I couldn't do anything at all and the screen was frozen except when those messages would pop up. I rebooted a few times, removed battery and SD card, etc. with no luck. So I reapplied the update.zip file. It came back on with my regular desktop wallpaper and seemed to be ok although all my icons, contacts, etc had to be replaced again. Now, my call log is blank again. My contacts are there, but don't show up when people call me. For example, I see text messages with the phone number and no contact name although the contact exists in my list.. I am soooo frustrated

my contacts app disappeared

Friday 18th of March 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
I had SC2.9.1 on my phone for about a day or 2 with TransHoneyComb Blue theme V10 from XDA and I noticed last night that my contacts app disappeared. At first I didn't really care because I never go in there for anything but when I go into the phone, and click contacts up top I got an error message and a force close of android core. Same thing with clicking contacts in the default SMS app. For now I went back to SC 2.8 but I would really like to know if there was a fix for that issue.

Sudden loss of contacts on my Samsung Galaxy S - running Gingerbread

Thursday 22nd of December 2011 / android.stackexchange.com
I have recebtly experienced that all my phone contacts suddenly disappeared from my internal phone memory. I could still see the 2 contacts that were on my sim-card, and I have no contacts on my external sd-card.I have looked through the different contact display options under settings, and they were all on.The contacts disappeared without me installing or deleting anything, or any other provocation. And while I was browsing through my call log, I could see the contact names being replaced by the underlying phone no, like a slow delete, very frustrating.I tried to google it, and found that this has happened to many other android users (and not just samsung phones), but I couldn't find a suitable solution to the problem anywhere. It's not catastrophic since I have all my contacts synchronized with outlook, although, I will be loosing the contacts added after my last sync. But I would really like to avoid to have this happen again in the future, and if possible recover my lost contacts. Does anyone have an idea of what has happened, what to do about it and how to avoid it future...?

Facebook keeps unsyncing/de-linking from contacts

Monday 23rd of July 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi. Being a latecomer to the smartphone party apologies if this topic has been answered before. I have an HTC Sensation but I am having problems with Facebook automatically unsyncing itself from my contacts, sometimes a few times in the same day.If I go into Settings>Account & Sync then Facebook has disappeared from the list so I have to open the app, go into Facebook settings and it will have set itself to "Do not sync contacts".Every time I rest the setting to sync with contacts it will eventually unsync them.Whilst this isn't a major problem it is REALLY annoying as I like having my contacts linked to Facebook. Also, sometimes it gives an error message along the lines of "HTC Sense Facebook authentication failed". Additional info:Using Facebook app not Facebook for HTC Sense.Android version 4.0.3HTC Sense version 3.6 Any advice on a possible fix for this would be appreciated greatly.

Contacts disappeared - cannot add google account back

Saturday 23rd of October 2010 / androidforums.com
I have a UK Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1-update 1.Yesterday all my contacts and my google accounts, to which they were synchronised, disappeared. Just like that, out of the blue. I tried to add the google account again, but I keep getting a "can't establish reliable data connection" error. It is not a network access issue because internet and email (imap, not gmail) work fine, plus I tried with two different SIMs and with Wi-Fi, but to no avail.Any thoughts how I could fix this? I read about people deleting some files from their rooted Android and/or hard resetting their phones, but these fixes don't seem to always work and I'd rather try something else first.I must say that, even though I like Android, I am getting very annoyed at how unreliable and buggy it has proven compared to my iphone and blackberry. Is it too much to ask to have a phone that doesn't reboot every other minute and that doesn't delete your contacts?

Weird contacts issue

Tuesday 15th of November 2011 / androidforums.com
Hello Everone,Firstly, thank you very much for taking a look at my post. I really love android, but this is an issue that is starting to worry me.Basically, since I got my new Android (Samsung Galaxy SII) phone, some of my contacts have disappeared from the phone's contact list, as well as Gmail contacts. What makes this strange is that when I then manually dial the number of one of these contacts, the phone will still show the name of the contact, although the contact is no-where to be found within my phonebook or Gmail contacts.Does anyone have an ideas on how to solve this?Thank you very much Colin

All sync is disabled and my contacts still sync

Wednesday 23rd of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have an AT&T Galaxy S4 SGH-I337 Running Android 4.2.2. I disabled sync from the notification panel and disabled sync from Settings: Accounts: Google. I loaded almost 600 contacts from a previous phone via Mobile Wondershare. After a few days all my contacts disappeared, and only contacts from my GMail remained. Under contacts using the menu option and Contacts to Display I selected Display All Contacts. Only 20 or so contacts that are in my GMail account show up. I could not find my 600 contacts anywhere. I loaded them again from my computer and again they all disappeared the next day. And again. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
