GMail Labs Experiment Signals Another Sign of Android Invasion

Wednesday 18th of November 2009 / androidguys.com
If you’re like us, chances are pretty good a lot of your contacts Gmail are Android users.  Wouldn’t it be great if you could open Gmail up and know whether or not your friends were using their Android devices for chat instead of sitting at a PC?  You’d be able to adjust your conversation and have proper expectations before you get mad at your friend for typing too slow.  If only there was a way…Gmail has introduced a new Labs feature today which does exactly that.  The experiment is called Green Robot and it shows Android icons next to your contacts who are using an Android device. It’s simple, but cool nonetheless.  You’ll see from the picture below how it works! When your chat buddies log into Gmail, their presence icons will revert to the traditional red, green, and orange status bubbles. In addition, if your chat buddy happens to be logged into both Gmail and Android chat then the traditional Gmail status icons will be shown.Oh – before you run off, getting all Big Brother on us… This is just an experiment.  ItR

When I press my gmail widget it goes straight to my inbox. Is there a way that I can log off and then just sign in and out when I need to? I recieved 4 emails today according to my computer but they never came to my Droid. Thanks

gmail security risk with stolen droid

Tuesday 04th of May 2010 / droidforums.net
I was robbed and lost droid. Verizon told me to close my phone account and change my gmail password so my visible droid gmail would not be accessible to the thief. Sounded good...but now I am told if someone turned on the WiFi they can still access ALL my stored gmail emails I had before I changed my email password. IS THIS TRUE.?question: my phone is stolen. Too late to wipe the phone because I closed down the account. I don't want my personal emails visible. What can I do to avoid the thief from reading my emails?I changed my password twice on my PC. I then logged on and clicked details on the bottom and notice the alert that more than one computer-window sessions may be logged on. I didn't see any IP address though...I have to manually click to close all sessions. However when I logged off and then log back on, the detail link again tells me the same: more than one computer-windows-sessions may be be logged on.the only way to avoid this is the keep my PC on all the time and never log off my gmail account. Please advise on how to safeguard the information on my stolen phone.thanksdr

Gmail password

Saturday 18th of September 2010 / android.net
Ok..here's the deal. I got this phone a couple of weeks ago and the VZW guy set up gmail on my phone. He didn't ask me what I wanted for a user name, he just created one using my name and some numbers. No biggie. I guess I'll just add it to my other emails. Ok..so fast forward a few days and I set up my google calendar with this email so it will sync to my phone. I don't actually use the gmail address...just the calendar associated with it. I have another calendar that I need to upload and I went to log into gmail on my computer and my password (or what I thought was my password) is not working. I tried and tried and tried and can't seem to get it. I followed the links for password reset and instead of giving me the option to reset it, it takes me to a page where I have to submit info about the account to have them review it. Great...this account really doesn't have any. I don't email with it. I put the limited info I had and sent it off. I got an email back saying they couldn't 'return the account to me' and to resubmit with more info. My phone still has the password since I can sen

Gmail app doesn't delete emails

Friday 23rd of December 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
I'm still new at this android thing. I've had an iphone for the past year. The problem I'm having is this, when I delete an email from my Gmail app it still shows up when i log into gmail via my laptop. I've let it sync and still nothing. When I used to delete an email on my iphone it would come off instantly. Is there a setting I'm missing?? Is there another mail app I should use that will do that for me??

Will a hard reset clean my gmail account on the moto droid?

Thursday 05th of August 2010 / droidforums.net
My first moto droid took a dunk in some pepsi, so I bought a new one and sent the first one off to get cleaned. It came back working perfectly (thanks portatronics!) and I want to sell it. The problem is that it won't let me log off of my gmail account. Will doing a hard reset clear the gmail account, clear all of my contacts and sms messages, etc?
