The Kyocera Event Makes Its Way To Virgin Mobile For $79

Wednesday 20th of February 2013 / talkandroid.com
Kyocera and Virgin Mobile have paired up once again to bring another low-cost pre-paid device. The Event can be had for a low $79 with no contract. When paired with Virgin’s $35 300 minute and unlimited data plan it can be a viable choice for new users looking for a decent device without having to pay a huge retail price. The Event brings a modest set of specs to the table which include a 3.5-inch HVGA  (320×480) display, a 1 GHz processor, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), 512 Mb of RAM (Micro-SD card expandable), and a 3.2-Megapixel camera. There seems to be little presence of an OEM skin which is nice. Although the specs are far from blowing anyone away, it could be one of Virgin’s top sellers based on price.  You can read the full press release after the break.//VIRGIN MOBILE USA LAUNCHES KYOCERA EVENT FOR THE GROWING WAVE OFSMARTPHONE USERSSmartphones can make even the most mundane situation an “event.”  Stuck in line?  Multitask by posting witty observations and pics on Facebook or Twitter.  On an endless road trip? Virgin Mobile announces the Kyocera Event for just $79

Wednesday 20th of February 2013 / androidcentral.com
Virgin Mobile and Kyocera have teamed up to offer an extremely low-cost Android device, the Event, for just $79.99 without a contract. Now you can't expect high-end specs at this price, but the Event shouldn't be a complete slouch. We're looking at a 3.5-inch HVGA (320x480) display, a 1GHzprocessor, 512MB of RAM (SDcard expandable), a 3.2MP camera and it's all running under Android 4.0. The software looks very slightly skinned as well, which is nice. The Event can be purchased for just $79.99 without a contract, and paired with one of Virgin's plans that offers unlimited data starting at $35 per month for 300 minutes. This device would be a great option for a frugal first-time smartphone user.More: Virgin MobileVIRGIN MOBILE USA LAUNCHES KYOCERA EVENT FOR THE GROWING WAVE OFSMARTPHONE USERSSmartphones can make even the most mundane situation an “event.” Stuck in line? Priced at only $79.99, the no-contract handset, runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and features a 3.5-inch display, 3.2-megapixel camera, and 1GHz processor.  Not a ton of power, no, but it beats the heck out of our first Android phone.  What’s more, we love that plans start at $35 a month and do not require any long term commitments.Look for the Kyocera Event in black at Virgin Mobile or pick up a red one at Radio Shack.VIRGIN MOBILE USA LAUNCHES KYOCERA EVENT FOR THE GROWING WAVE OF SMARTPHONE USERSSmartphones can make even the most mundane situation an “event.”  Stuck in line?  Multitask by posting witty observations and pics on Facebook or Twitter.  On an endless road trip? recovering from reboot loop?

Friday 16th of August 2013 / androidforums.com
I have a Kyocera Event stuck in a bootloop. I tried wiping the cache and doing a factory reset but the recovery screen keep giving me "E:cannot load volume /misc!" as an error. Is there any way for me to fix this on my own or do I need to get a new one from Virgin Mobile?

another plastic screen

Sunday 15th of September 2013 / androidforums.com
hi all, i just bought a samsung galaxy ring (virgin mobile) i didnt know too much about it but i was in need of a new phone as my kyocera event (junk) got stuck in boot loop and then bricked. i didnt even root it lol. well i was expecting this to be 4.0.... it ended up being 4.1.2! but upon getting home i noticed the screen feels like plastic. i was wondering about plastic screens. i understand high end phones usually have gorilla glass and since this phone isn't high end i can understand why it isn't. im guessing this is a way for Samsung to bring us an affordable s3 looking 4.1.2 touchwiz phone. or is there another reason the screen is plastic? i know Samsung is more known for their software and theirs hardware is nothing to write home about, however, my dad has a galaxy reverb which is the older model of the ring pretty much and his is gorilla glass. or is mine glass and i just think its plastic? im so confused. oh well. i guess ill put a screen protector on it and have the best of both worlds.

multi mount sdcard by rafoid

Sunday 22nd of December 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I just bought this 99 cent app because my F3 was getting stuck on media scan. Well, I dunno if that's what fixed it or not but I'm curious if any F3 owners have run into issues with stuck or super slow media scan. It could just be my memory card. I used it in my Kyocera Event I used to own so it's not that new. At least I have an app that could come in useful. I deleted it and will reboot to test the scan. Posted via Android Central App

Interesting bootloop discovery

Wednesday 04th of June 2014 / androidforums.com
I preface the following by noting that I rooted the Event as per directions for the Kyocera Rise on this forum upon receipt. Also removed Connection Optimizer from the system.Been suffering with the bootloop issue on my Event ever since purchasing it two months ago. At first, the phone would randomly reboot during calls or while running apps, but it would start back up to the unlock screen. As time progressed, it would get stuck in the bootloop upon startup for 20-30 minutes at a time if I allowed it and would only reach the unlock screen, it seemed, by blind chance. Recently, it seemed unable to make it out of the bootloop period, requiring removal of the battery to stop it. Going into the Recover screen and wiping the cache also had zero effect. However, I recently discovered that the phone not only has no issue booting into Safe Mode, but once in Safe Mode, it never randomly reboots and the bootloop is no longer a concern. Of course, this means I can't run any apps not already part of the OS, but calls, messaging, e-mail and internet all work without hitch. So the question is: what

phone stuck in perpetual safe mode and I cant use my apps

Thursday 03rd of July 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Kyocera event restarted into safe mode, this has happened before but I just disabled it the regular way but this time this didn't happened looked online and tried countless methods, like holding different buttons when turning on, making sure no buttons are jammed, or removing battery for different periods of times. none of these worked so I said crap it and did the final suggestion and formatted my data( but I had to do that from the settings since the boot menu didn't want to show up) that still didn't work, so someone please find me a way to take my phone out of safe mode I will do anything short of breaking. this is another incident but imma just post it here because I noticed this after i saw the safe mode in the corner of the screen. My downloaded apps wont show up in my applications list but they will show up in settings/apps, but since I can't open them from there I wen to the market and attempted to open them from there, but to my surprise when going to an app I already have it would only show an "uninstall" options, instead of an "uninstall" and an "
