Is there a way to set quiet time for certain notifications?

Wednesday 31st of October 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
During the day I like having the phone make a sound and vibrate for e-mail, Facebook, and other "events".At night I only want to have those sounds/vibration for phone calls and SMS, all other ones should be silenced. Is there an app or a way to set this up (without manually changing each thing to silent)

Is there a way to set individual ringtones for various contacts?

Thursday 17th of June 2010 / androidforums.com
I'm just wondering whether there is any way that I can set individual ringtones for my contacts? There are a few people I answer the phone to everytime they ring and a few that I decide can wait until I can call them back, usually when I'm driving. As it's against the law to be messing with your phone while driving, I'm just wondering whether it's possible to set the ringtone to contacts individually so I know that I need to pull over and speak to them as opposed to having to check who is calling.Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to set a timed lock screen?

Saturday 25th of June 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
On my old Incredible, you could set a lock screen timeout to say 5 minutes with the display set to turn off after 2. That way, the screen will turn off but you won't have to unlock it immediately in the event someone messages you afterwards (and can save you battery). From what I can tell, the only way to use a lock screen on the Charge is to have it lock the phone as soon as the screen turns off. This really makes it a pain in the **** to text people, as the only option you have now is to make the screen timeout longer and waste the battery so you don't have to unlock the phone again when your friend responds. Unless there's a way to set the lock screen timeout that I'm just not seeing?

Is there a way to set Google Voice as the default text message service on the X?

Tuesday 12th of October 2010 / forums.androidcentral.com
The title says it all. I've reciently removed the unlimited text option from my family plan as we only send a few hundred text messages a month, and I added the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. I just want a way to make sending SMS's easier. Thanks!

Is there a way to set a timeout for requiring a PIN for unlocking the Nexus 7?

Sunday 13th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
On my iPhone and iPad I use a PIN to unlock the devices because I don't have to use it every single time, which would get really old. I have it set to 1 hour, which seems reasonable. So if I don't use my iPad for an hour then I have to enter the PIN again. That seems secure enough to me. On my Nexus 7 the PIN security option doesn't seem to have a timeout setting. Is there a way of having one? Or is "use the PIN every single time you unlock or don't use a PIN at all?" Thanks, doug

Is there a way to download large maps for offline use in Google Maps?

Friday 28th of March 2014 / androidforums.com
Google Maps lets you download selected areas for offline access, useful when travelling to areas without data access or when roaming to save on data costs. The limitations are that you need to know precisely where you'll be going, and to painstakingly cache a series of maps. There used to be a way to download entire regions (Rmaps and Mobile Atlas Creator), which Google Maps could use.Unfortunately, those apps have been discontinued.I have found other apps that provide offline maps, but they are incompatible with Google Maps.Is there any way to download larger areas for offline access by Google Maps?
