Huawei Misses March Android 2.2 Update Target Ideos S7

Thursday 31st of March 2011 / androidtablets.net
Despite having multiple confirmations from Huawei support staff stating that the Huawei Ideos S7 Android tablet was receiving an upgrade sometime in Q1 of 2011, more specifically before the end of March, the last day of March passed. Huawei support staff now reply stating that the update is 'in development', backtracking from previous statements of its availability. The S7 was Huawei's only entry into the Android tablet market. It is an unfortunate development for existing owners, who now have to wonder if they will ever see the promised Android 2.2 update for their S7 tablets at all. Huawei is set to launch more Android tablets this year, in the S7 Slim and S7 Pro. The baffling lack of communication from Huawei has undoubtedly created a lasting impression on consumers for some time to come.

Huawei IDEOS Devices Get Detailed a Tiny Bit More

Tuesday 15th of February 2011 / androidguys.com
Huawei has formally announced two new Android devices in their IDEOS lineup today with the X3 smart phone and S7 Slim tablet.  Unfortunately, the company still seems to be a bit shy in divulging all the details for these two units.  So, we’ll just pass along what do we know for sure. The Huawei IDEOS X3 features an ultra slim design measuring only 11.2 mm in thickness and offers a 3.2-inch capacitive HVGA touch screen and a 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera.  According to Huawei, this is the slimmest device you’ll find on the market when it comes to this size screen.  The Huawei Handset Over-the-Air and Online Upgrade (HOTA) ensures that Android updates are done in a timely and efficient manner.  Look for the IDEOS X3 to hit Japan (SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp.) in the Spring of 2011 at a price of less than $200 US.On the tablet side of things, the Huawei IDEOS S7 Slim runs Android 2.2 and features support for  HD video (720p), 3G, WiFi (802.11 b/h/n), and Bluetooth connectivity.  Priced under $300 US, it will arrive in April.Don’t be surprised to see either o

A Capacitive Touch Huawei S7 Variant Arrives?

Friday 10th of December 2010 / androidtablets.net
The Huawei Ideos S7 is one of the best Android tablets in the market today. The above video from Huawei is the promotion video of a capacitive mulitouch variant. So far, there only has been a resistive touch variant that is most readily available at Best Buy. Despite only shipping with Android 2.1, it has full phone and 3G data functionality (AT&T) via SIM card. There are also rumors of a pending Android 2.2 upgrade in early 2011. With a capacitive multitouch variant, it might become much more attractive to many who wrote this off because of the touchscreen. Now it is poised to become the least expensive 7" data and phone capable Cortex A8 resistive and capacitive touch Android tablet on the market. The Huawei S7 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC present in many other Android devices such as the HTC Nexus One, Evo, and Desire. Makes us wonder when this thing is going to be available. Here is a video of the thing in action, from Mobileforum RU (Russian): Thanks to npmt for digging up the video. Discussion continues here. Our dedicated Huawei forum is here: Huawei Tablets
