Anyone have PDAnet working with Linux?

Wednesday 03rd of February 2010 / droidforums.net
I recently put PDAnet on my phone and love the tethering under windows xp. I really like it on my lunch breaks were our small concrete lunchroom at work gets no wifi access. It works flawless on my xp partition on my laptop. The speeds over my eris rival the speed of the overused internet connection at work. So I give it 9 out of 10 for xp. Thing is I have dual boot laptop that runs much faster and beter battery life in linux, Mandriva 2010. I would love to use this feature on my linux partition at lunch instead of the bloated windows xp install that sucks the battery dead in 20-30 mins. PDAnet offers client programs for windows and mac, but not linux. There websight says to use on linux through bluetooth or wireless. But for the life of me I cant figure out how to get the wifi setup to work, as there is no walkthrough on site. I am having difficulty getting linux to accept my bluetooth usb stick, a insignia bluetooth adapter. Anyone have this running in linux and can point me in the right direction?

I just got the xperia play with android 2.3 and don't plan on ever activating it through a carrier. I'm using my home wifi for everything and all of that seems fine. The only problem that i'm having is when i use thw web browser to surf to google then click the signin button, i get an error page saying Web page not available. I can sign into hotmail...I can browse to any page except for the google account stuff.I am able to sync with the Accounts & Sync using my google email.I cannot access the google market, it gives same error, Web page not availableI can install apk using my usb.I can play internet games like pocket legends. Do these google website pages require me to activate the phone? Is there a setting I need to set?Is there an update that i need?

Some major problems with Nexus 4

Thursday 09th of May 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey guys! I'm new to this forum, and i know its not the best way to start a post and conversations, but the whole point of joining androidcenteral was to find out what exactly is wrong with my phone.I got my Nexus 4 about 3 and a half month ago, and it has been working perfectly. But a few times during each month, i noticed how the phone started to randomly shut off, and wouldnt turn on until i hold the power button for about 2 minutes. It has happened today again, and im quite sick of it. Better yet, the internet connection has been messed up. When i tried to connect to google, it told the the website was a threat, and wouldn't let me even connect to it. Nor could i access any of my internet running aps. Just as well, i had noticed that in my messages, i cant see what i type to the other person. I type, and send, yet i do not see what i sent, but the receiver does though. And one last thing to sum it all up, i disconnected from my internet server, and now the phone wont even let me connect to it ,and keep s repeating the same message " Authenticating..." or "Problem wi

Any one having this reception problem with the At&t Nexus One??

Friday 19th of March 2010 / android.net
im in a great ATT 3g area...and i notice from time to time, i have no data for no reason...and the 3g is gone from the signal meter in the status bar. it comes back, but its really annoying, because i cant do anything with data for the few seconds i have no coverage, even though i have full bars of 3g coverage in my house...weird... when i try to access an app or go on the internet...i have full bars of 3g service and i get a "NETWORK ERROR" message...goes away, but very very annoying for the 5-10 seconds i cant access any type of data...it would make sense if i was in a bad signal area...but it doesnt even switch to Edge...i get nothing....i have checked all the settings and all is set correctly...i have never had any problem with any Att phone.....

Apps can't access data

Sunday 20th of January 2013 / droidforums.net
Hello all,I've tried searching the web for help with this but I can't seem to find anything without scrolling through pages and pages of search results. So I'm hoping you guys can help me.As soon as my phone updated to jelly bean I started having problems. The main one is that many of my apps have a very hard time accessing data. They can all use wifi with minimal problems, but when I'm not connected to a wifi network and an app wants to access the internet via data, they can't. My browser, fb, and a couple other apps can access it fine, but most of my apps cant. Under the LTE symbol there are and up and down arrow which light up when uploading and downloading, and when I'm using one of the apps that can't access the data no arrows light up. Sometimes if I load an app which cant access the data, then switch really quick to one that can, so it starts a data stream, then I switch back to the first one, it will work. But thats annoying. I've searched all the settings I can and I can't figure out what happened. I'm trying to avoid a factory reset but that may not be possible. Just wanted

Unable to receive mob internet/wifi connection - HTC Wildfire

Wednesday 11th of September 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi everyone! I would have liked to post on the appropriate forum, but (as i am about to explain) I cannot receive any emails or connect to the itnernet via my mobile phone, so registering for an account was impossible :/I have had my HTC Wildfire for two years now with very little problems regarding connectivity. Yesterday I used my phone as a Hotspot with my laptop for about an hour, but since then my internet no longer works. For mobile internet, the 'H' symbol with arrows appears at the top of the screen, but when I try to open a webpage or access my emails, it acts as if it cannot connect to a network and has no response. Not even my weather forecast will update. So, I tried to use my Wifi instead - the phone says it is connected to the wifi with a very strong signal, however it doesnt seem to actually be receiving or sending any packets because I still cant view any web pages, access email, update FB messenger etc. As it appears to happen with both mobile internet and wifi whilst both say they are connected with signal, I dont think its a network problem with my provider (O2 Ger

Massive problems with 4.3 update (urgent help needed)

Wednesday 18th of December 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I just received the 4.3 update OTA on Sunday, and now i have MASSIVE problems with my phone. my battery is draining rapidly, i cant access any files- My files freezes my phone, i cant download apps, or files from emails, my camera cant save photos, gallery freezes my phone, it reboots randomly, and vibrates randomly. I cant even connect to a PC Sprint recommends a clean wipe, but there are files i don't want to loose. the easy answer is "you should have backed up first" well... i would have had i known it was doing a massive update. i didn't get any warning it was going to download, let alone break my phone. is there any work arounds to get my files off the internal storage, or a new rom onto the sd card to then recover, or even a sideload of a file management app which might be able to read my internal memory? I do not have a PC at home to work from, only an adroid tablet. and my phone is my only Internet source at home.

wifi tethering to Windows 8 issue

Tuesday 07th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have a Motorola Atrix HD with AT&T and just got a new Gateway laptop with Windows 8 and cant tether it to my phone. I get a connection but cant access the internet, it doesn't even say limited access most of the time. kind of flips back and forth between limited and connected. It worked fine on old computer with Windows Vista and it works if I tether with a usb but not over wifi. I have disabled firewall, disabled Avast internet security and tried numerous other things. I have no issues with any other wifi connections and other devices can connect to my phones wifi but not this one with windows 8. I cant figure this one out people.
