Too much spam on my Droid

Saturday 24th of July 2010 / droidforums.net
I have an HTC Droid Eris. My Mail account is set-up so that my Comcast email gets forwarded to my phone. The problem is I can't stop the SPAM. I have spam filters and blocked senders in place through Outlook Express at home. I also put filters in place at the server level on the Comcast.net website. So why do I still get 20-30 spam emails on my phone. Viagra, Health Insurance, credit score offers, shopping deals...all day long. Sometimes I get the exact same ones even though I've blocked that exact sender and the exact name of the product in the spam filter. How is that possible? Does the forwarded email get re-routed after it gets to my Outlook folder at home or as soon as it hits Comcast.net? Are there settings I can change on my phone?

Can I get the generic email app to NOT check my email when my tablet is sleeping?

Wednesday 11th of January 2012 / androidforums.com
Hey all, This is my first post. If it is a duplicate I apologize, but I did search and couldn't quite find a request like mine. I have an Acer Iconia A500 with the latest version of Honeycomb (3.2). I use the generic email app to check my Comcast email. However, I also check that same account with three other computers. Is there a way to not have the email app check the mail when the tablet is sleeping? Or at least is there a way to have the app auto-delete email if I have already deleted them? As it is now, every time I open the tablet I have a bunch of email on there that I have already deleted from the server. I know I can change the frequency it checks, but that isn't quite what I am looking for. I like it checking often when I am actively using the tablet.

I can't send via my Comcast email...

Sunday 19th of June 2011 / droidforums.net
I set up my Comcast email account on my X and I receive my mail fine. However, every time I try to send a message I get "Comcast message not sent: Authentication error sending." I compared the settings with those on my desktop and the only difference I can see is, on my computer the outgoing server port is "0" and on the phone it's "587".Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this problem? Thanks.cadre

Comcast (xfinity) SUCKS!

Friday 06th of April 2012 / androidforums.com
Dear friends, I would just like to point out that the following text is a rant from a very angry customer. Please do not take any of the following personally as it is just my opinion.COMCAST or xfinity or whatever the hell they call themselves now SUCKS!!!Now their cable Internet service itself doesn't, but their customer service is non-existent.Exhibit 1: My cable Internet service turns off one day. Explanation from Comcast, "Oh you have a DOCSIS 1.1 cable modem, we no longer support that. You will need to purchase a new one"I have no problem with needing to purchase new equipment as standards and speeds evolve, but I feel strongly that LETTING YOUR CUSTOMERS KNOW BEFORE YOU SHUT OFF THEIR SERVICE would be showing decent customer service.Exhibit 2: Just today (while I was expecting an important email BTW) my Droid X reports that my username or password for my Comcast email is incorrect. At first I assume that this is a temporary problem that will pass. Two hours later I still can't connect. I start to think maybe my account has been hacked. I start to get worried and log i

HELP!! Problems connecting to email server

Sunday 06th of January 2013 / androidforums.com
Help!I am trying to get my mother in law set up on her new Galaxy Tab 2 7.0for some reason the stock email app is unable to connect to the (comcast) email server.it was working when she was here visiting for the holidays, but now that she's back home it stopped working.I've tried everything I can think of -- including deleting the email account and re-creating it. I've checked the comcast server and port settings.I even tried it from my identical Galaxy Tab I'm holding in my hand... it works just fine from here. I can create a new email account; it connects, and downloads her her emails just fine. But when she tries it, she gets "can't connect to email server" and it shoots her back to the server settings.I had her check that she has a good wifi connection by opening her browser and she can get google.com just fine (unless it's cached!?!?!).is there any hidden setting that could be preventing her from connecting to the (comcast) email server?any other ideas? help! thanks!

Can't access Comcast email

Saturday 22nd of January 2011 / androidforums.com
I got my Dad a Nook Color for Christmas and just recently had a chance to root it and get rid of that annoying skin. The only issue I'm having is that I can't seem to get his Comcast email to show his messages. I feel like I've tried everything, and before you ask, yes I am using the "email" not "gmail", I even tried K9 Mail and nothing seems to work. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks
