asus eee pad transformer - How to set up tablet to use a local DNS server thru VPN rather than Google's DNS?
Saturday 07th of April 2012
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server running in our home network. It has VPN functionality installed and fully working. If I connect with a computer, the computer will get right DNS servers. If I connect with Android tablet (Asus Transformer Prime), the tablet will still use Google's DNS servers. The problem with this is that I can't resolve local website addresses such as intranet. Getting the access to that site is more than necessary.I want the (non-rooted) Android tablet to use the DNS servers provided by the VPN server. How can I fix this?

Help Configure VPN
Wednesday 22nd of September 2010
I've been trying to configure a VPN connection - mainly so I can access work mail. I have no problem using VPN on computer to access but can't figure out how to do it with the original droid. Can somebody walk me step by step how to set this up? A co-worker of mine was able to VPN with iphone and he gave me his setup but they're not quick the same as our VPN. He gave me the following rundown (use IPSec) as to how he setup his VPN. Description: I have this infoServer: I have this infoAccount: my user namePassword: _______Use Certificate: OFFGroup Name: I have this infoSecret: I have this infoProxy: OFF Our VPN doesn't have the proxy line or group name, instead it asked for server name, preshared key, enable/disable secret, set secret, and DNS search domains. I don't know what to put under DNS search domains. Anyone help please?

How to set a VPN for accessing blocked and filtered websites?
Friday 16th of April 2010
Hello, all. I am now traveling around. Here in Vietnam, due to the alleged government censorship, facebook and some other sites are not allowed to be accessed. I've heard that if N1 gets a VPN setting, I could take a detour to open up the sites. However, many VPN services are not free. Since I just want to access Facebook on my N1, I am looking for a free VPN and the instruction to set up for it. Any one could help?

How to use the VPN?
Monday 12th of April 2010
First: Do not post links to the generic "How to set up your VPN" post from Motorola. I read it already. I am a firm believer in RTFM. Now that I have a VPN connection set up on my DROID, I am wonder why they even bothered to implement it. There is no apparent way to tether the phone to a computer for use in browsing the network once connected nor is there any support for UNC paths using the built in or downloadable file managers. I have PDANet (paid version) it fails on authentication when trying to use a native VPN client. Can someone please tell me how to take advantage of the DROID VPN connection? The VPN seems as pointless as being able to connect two telephones without ever having a conversation.

Setting Up VPN
Monday 16th of July 2012
Gents, OK, I'll admit right off I'm an *****, because I should know this. However I'm throwing in the towel and pleading for your help. I have an HP TP running Tenderloin and I am trying to set up a VPN connection to my college so that I can work on material while on the road. I am using the Entree Pro Cisco AnyConnect compatible VPN client and it does seem to make the connection without any problem. At that point I am stumped. If I was on a Windows machine I would simply go to START > RUN > NAME OF SERVER, then see the file tree pop up in Windows Explorer. How does one do the same thing in Android??? I have seen where the solution might be in the settings of various file managers such as Astro or ES, but I am unsure exactly which ones to use. Can someone please gently walk me through that process? Regards, Colonel Bill

How to set up VPN
Thursday 10th of October 2013
Hi!I would like to set up a VPN on my phone. From the research that I have done online I gather that Android has integrated support for PPTP and L2TP VPNs, so there's no need to download any app. However, during the setup process you need to enter your username and password of a vpn service, and the address of the server to which you wish to connect. My problem is where do I get this information from? I haven't seen any registration page on the websites of VPNs like Hotspot Shield, Hide My Ass, Vypr etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. And is there any free VPN service that you recommend?
