How to set a VPN for accessing blocked and filtered websites?

Friday 16th of April 2010 / android.net
Hello, all. I am now traveling around. Here in Vietnam, due to the alleged government censorship, facebook and some other sites are not allowed to be accessed. I've heard that if N1 gets a VPN setting, I could take a detour to open up the sites. However, many VPN services are not free. Since I just want to access Facebook on my N1, I am looking for a free VPN and the instruction to set up for it. Any one could help?

How to use the VPN?

Monday 12th of April 2010 / droidforums.net
First: Do not post links to the generic "How to set up your VPN" post from Motorola. I read it already. I am a firm believer in RTFM. Now that I have a VPN connection set up on my DROID, I am wonder why they even bothered to implement it. There is no apparent way to tether the phone to a computer for use in browsing the network once connected nor is there any support for UNC paths using the built in or downloadable file managers. I have PDANet (paid version) it fails on authentication when trying to use a native VPN client. Can someone please tell me how to take advantage of the DROID VPN connection? The VPN seems as pointless as being able to connect two telephones without ever having a conversation.

How to set up VPN

Thursday 10th of October 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi!I would like to set up a VPN on my phone. From the research that I have done online I gather that Android has integrated support for PPTP and L2TP VPNs, so there's no need to download any app. However, during the setup process you need to enter your username and password of a vpn service, and the address of the server to which you wish to connect. My problem is where do I get this information from? I haven't seen any registration page on the websites of VPNs like Hotspot Shield, Hide My Ass, Vypr etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. And is there any free VPN service that you recommend?
