New to Android, have a few questions...

Monday 14th of May 2012 / android.net
Hello All,I am new to Android, well I had the G1 way back when but have been an iPhone user for years and have decided to make the jump to Android. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note and have a few questions I am hoping you can help me with.1) I plugged it in to my Macbook Pro last night, it was not immediately recognized, I looked online I figured out how to display as a USB mass storage device so I did that, is there another or more efficient way I should be doing this?2) I moved music files in to the USB mass storage folder, how can I get them to be recognized by a music app (using Music or Double Twist) so I do not have to go through the My Files app and select songs to play one by one? I am sure I will have more questions as I play with it some more, but thats it for now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.Regards,ASeedhouse

Should I use Flash Air or Java to develop games?

Saturday 13th of November 2010 / androidforums.com
I'm a beginner android developer and thinking about making a decently big game.I know that Flash air is only available to android 2.2 and future releases, but should I still make the game using Flash?Using Java would imo be so much more difficult and time consuming, but I suppose all android versions would be able to run it.Also, how efficient can android 2.2 run Flash Air? Can a game made in Flash Air run almost as fast as the game made with Java? So, I would like hear what you guys have to say about this...remember that I'm planning to make a fairly complex game.

Verizon And Motorola Mobility Partners With BoxTone For New Mobile Healthcare Solution, Aims To Make Healthcare A Little Easier

Tuesday 21st of February 2012 / talkandroid.com
//As the Android platform continues to evolve, industries that utilize the platform evolve too. Verizon and Motorola recognize this by creating a landmark partnership with BoxTone to provide secure mobile devices and apps for the healthcare industry. The goal of this partnership is to make things more efficient at its most basic level. In addition, the partnership will aim to improve patient care through ”the sharing of clinical data in near-real time to help speed decision making and control costs.”Many of you are asking, “ok this is great and all— but how does this relate to me?” Well folks, think of it this way: you’re in a doctor’s office and instead of seeing the usual bundle of forms and paperwork you’ve grown accustomed to, you’d see your private and sensitive information presented to you in the form of a device— the MOTO XYBOARD or DROID RAZR/RAZR MAXX to be exact– all using Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Here’s Dr. Peter Tippett, VP and Chief Medical Officer of Verizon Connected Healthcare Solutions

Android Forums - View Single Post - How to Sync my life using my Galaxy S3?

Sunday 30th of September 2012 / androidforums.com
Hey guys,I've got a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.1 (CheckROM 5.5) which I'm very happy with, however I don't think I'm using it to the full of its potential. This new Google app seems to think it can sync my life, however I don't know how to use it properly. I'm a sales rep so I'm on the road a fair bit, booking appointments, writing down notes etc. I use gmail for my personal email, however my office uses Microsoft Outlook for emails. At the moment, I've got a notebook, in which I write down appointments (I don't want to carry a heavy diary around, as well as my notebook, camera, laser, phone, wallet etc etc), take notes, have a to-do list etc etc.I'm just wondering if there's a way to put in appointments, as well as write notes, on my phone which somehow sync real-time to my work and home computers, and vice versa. Also, a to-do list would be nice. Is there a way to do all of this to simplify my life and make me more efficient? I don't mind spending money on apps if that's what is required. Any advice or recommendations are appreciated!!Cheers

Toyota introduces fuel efficiency app for forklift fleet managers

Friday 27th of January 2012 / androidguys.com
As technology is evolving, smart companies are taking advantage of the new tools available to make themselves more and more efficient. Toyota’s Material Handling division has demonstrated a good example of this with their new app system (available on Android tablets and other devices), aimed at allowing forklift fleet managers to estimate fuel use and efficiency on a wide scale in their fleets. Armed with this data, they’re then able to calculate fuel needed and make necessary changes to their fleet. While it’s not flashy software or even software that would be widely used, it is a good example of how various industries are changing in these technology infused times. How to disable/shrink photos for favorite contacts?

Sunday 10th of February 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi all, hope I'm just being dense/noob and this is easy to do. Got a new Nexus 4 and working on tweaking it to make it efficient and the contact list in the phone app is a minor annoyance. Specifically, the size of each contact, due to the photo, is a huge waste of space since I don't use the photos (and know what my contacts look like). In fact, half of my favorites aren't even people (office numbers, conference call numbers, etc) so I'm looking for a way to change the view so that more contacts can fit on the screen - reducing or removing the photo would be great. thanks in advance for all who respond and help. Template S-pen

Tuesday 04th of June 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi, totally new to the Android system. New to the definitions of the various prefixes allowed above. Just got a referb Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8013-EA16ARBwifi 16 GB. I am atypical - don't do games/watch tv or those types of things. Will use for e-mail, and some web surfing, but mostly for the note taking for my business. Although I'd also like to be able to show my own videos to clients as well.I am a dog behavior consultant and am trying to make myself more efficient. The most important thing for me is to learn how to (if possible) add a pdf I created as a template in the s-pen notes section. I am a dog behavior consultant and have been using paper notes, bought this model because of the handwritten note to text capability. I thought I would be able to use the branded pdf that I created to write on and then send to the client via e-mail (even if I have to wait till I get home). Or even if the note could be turned into text on that branded pdf which I could then e-mail to the client. My two grown kids have some experience with Android phones, but nothing like this. I can barely

Tablet improvement

Tuesday 03rd of September 2013 / androidtablets.net
firstly I am really sorry if this is in the wrong spot or topic or something, I haven't done this before :/Hi! I have an android tablet that runs on ice cream sandwich, and I'm looking to make improvements to it to make it more efficient (do more useful things!) by using apps or anything! I'd love to do some cool software things, though embarrassing to admit I have hardly any experience or knowledge in that area. I would love it if anyone has any useful tips, advice or even essays on how I can make my tablet more interesting and efficient. I am really apprehensive on spending any money on this project, so any handy freeware apps you might know would be much appreciated! I don't use my tablet much because I just haven't spent the time to do anything about improving it, and now Ive discovered I cant find any really useful advice or tips/instructions anywhere. Oh, I haven't really mentioned that id love to be able to use my tablet along with my laptop (and Xbox if that's possible) so they can 'communicate' and collaborate and all that stuff If anyone one knows some useful, handy, apps
