Leaving CDMA - Straight Talk or Simple Mobile?

Tuesday 30th of October 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi Guys, I figure some of you guys may have experience with GSM carriers as I've been on Sprint for what seems like forever. I'm finally ready to bail and make the jump to unlocked phones. Both Straight Talk and Simple Mobile have good coverage for me (Los Angeles/Pasadena area) so it's not about that I guess. A few questions... - Since Straight Talk takes advantage of either the At&t or T-Mobile networks and is $5 cheaper per month, shouldn't I go just go with them or is there something I'm missing?- ST isn't exactly up front with how much data is allowed though but I haven't ever really gone over 2GB so I think I'm fine if that's the limit. Anyone run into any issues of getting cut off/throttled?- SM says unlimited but again, who really knows how much data is allowed or if you are throttled. Anyone have experiences with that?- Is it as simple as 42.2Mbps with SM and then 21Mbps with ST? Thanks guys...looking forward to jumping ship.

how to flash back to my 2.1 image after 2.2d

Thursday 02nd of September 2010 / androidforums.com
please forgive my newbieness in the rooting area.I finaly decided to root via easy root and everything worked just fine, I used clockwork recovery to create an image on my sd card. then I kept getting the message every few minutes for the froyo update.after doing some reading most people thought that it was ok to let it try and update in order to get rid of the annoying update available message. it was thought that clockwork would block the update on the reboot.not so, 2.2 did sucessfully install and of course I lost root.I tried to "re root" using easy root but it will not accept my code, and I see on therir webpage that 2.2d is not supported yetI need to know how to flash back to the image I have on my sd card as I can't take the slow, buggy 2.2d any longer. Thanks,Andy

Wednesday 16th of January 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello Everyone!I want to buy HTC Droid DNA and use it with T-Mobile monthly 4G, Straight Talk, or Virgin Mobile - cheap plans below $50 monthly.I am not sure it will work. I didn't found any answer on the Internet. I asked tmobile and they cannot guarantee, because it is not t-mobile phone. They say it will probably work in 2G. Not sure about Straight Talk or Virgin Mobile.Appreciate any help.Tom

Droid Bionic for Straight Talk-Verizon???

Tuesday 26th of March 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Okay, be patient with me, because I'm not a techie or anything. I just like a phone that looks good, is comfortable to hold and operate, is 4G capable, and has good battery life. That's simple enough. Here's my great quandary and heartache: I currently have an HTC Inspire, an AT&T phone, which I was using on the Straight Talk network. Well, I moved from the city to the country (pretty much), and the only carrier or towers that work out here on the Straight Talk netword is Verizon. Great. I always thought Verizon was a money-sucking vampire, but it's my only option now. So, I decided to get a Droid Bionic to use on Verizon's no-contract plan, a real upgrade from my Inspire which I loved, but then a Verizon representative told me that I can't get on their no-contract plan unless I have had a contract with them for at least six months. Vampires! So, it looks like my only choice now is to buy one of Straight Talk's Verizon phones which are either downgrades from my Inspire or cost about a half an arm and a half a leg. I'm not a millionaire yet, people! I don't want to trade my wallet

Are new SIMS required to get LTE on Straight Talk or Net10?

Thursday 10th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
If one upgrades to an LTE-enabled phone for an existing account on either Net10 or Straight Talk, do you have to get a new SIM card to get the new LTE service?
