remote control - How can I explore my android from my computer

Saturday 29th of October 2011 / android.stackexchange.com
I'd like to explore the content of the internal memory.I have a rooted phone with a terminal emulator which allows me to navigate through it.The problem is that it's quite hard to use (small screen, no physical keyboard) and I cannot transfer files from internal memory to my computer to examine it (maybe memory -> sd and then sd -> computer but not the easiest). Is there a way to have a ssh daemon (I've ConnectBot but it's only a client) on the phone, control it with usb cable (with usb debugging maybe), install a backdoor (maybe no) or something like this ?Thanks

Rooting and Google Marketplace using update to 7015A....step by step process

Friday 18th of February 2011 / androidtablets.net
I was able to root my Kyros and add GApps with the 7015A update thanks to all the resources in the couple of threads and the great YouTube video. I know as a newbie to the Android world that it can be kind of confusing and seem like the language is to hard to understand. So I figured I would help out and try to list the process step by step from a newbie's perspective and how I did it. If I am missing anything, please feel free to add. 7015A Root and GApps addition This tutorial will require a MicroSD memory card. That is how I did it, so it's the only way I know. 1. Using your home computer, download these files to you MicroSD card (save these files directly to the main level of the memory card and not in a folder on the card) Z4Root [APP] z4root - xda-developers Recovery.imgSendspace.com - Download Google Apps PackageMediafire.com - Download 2. Open the link below on your home computer using the Windows Explore. Once it is open you will be able to look around in the different folders. Go to the system folder, then bin folder, and copy the flash_image file. You will now want to cop

I made a game that works on the Android!

Thursday 14th of June 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi. I've been working on something in secret (well almost secret) since January. Its actually a PSP homebrew but there's also a port to play it on smart phones. Its not actually an app, but it uses the phone's browser as the console. I have a little Straight Talk Galaxy Precedent 2.2 Android phone, and the game works great using Opera Mobile to play the game and File Explorer to read it off the SD card. (there's also an option to play it via 3/4G and wifi)Its a point and click adventure game called "The Field of Kings". Anyone who knows me knows I love "King's Field" so.... yeah. Picture MYST/Riven with enemy encounters on your phone and/or PSP. Its an epic open world to explore. (2165 images, over 100 different enemies to encounter, 9 large areas)Here's some screenshots. The game is FREE. It does not cost anything to have the full version.FREE full version download, install instructions, how to play, FAQs and more at http://www.thefieldofkings.com or the banner above.Game is over 100MB unpacked. Don't be scared by 4000+ .a/htm files unpacked - that's what the game

How to explore and edit a Samsung Galaxy Y's backup file without a connected phone (as, for example, by using NBU Explorer for Nokia Symbian files)

Saturday 03rd of November 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
The limitations of Nokia's PC Suite were beautifully resolved by NBU Explorer. I have recently shifted to a Samsung Galaxy Y Duos. This is a double SIM set. Both Samsung's own suite (Kies) as well as 3rd party softwares literally suck. Have you come across something that has the same/similar features as NBU Explorer for an Android OS? Eg., explore a backup without a connected phone, edit stored items, and, selectively restore items to a phone.Request #2: I need a SMS counter capable of keeping a separate track of SMS sent out over each SIM. Searched the 'net; no such App. I will be grateful if you or a reader of your blog can help with these issues.

update problems

Thursday 12th of January 2012 / androidtablets.net
Hi, I posted this on my phone forums but no one could help me so since this is an android forum I thought maybe someone here could help. I recently updated to gingerbread on my smartphone. Everything is working fine but I have just noticed two things. My pictures taken with my camera are in the phone but my phone doesn't know where they are. When I go into the camera and bring up my album there is nothing there but I can explore my files with Astro and see that they are right where they should be. My camera app has lost the link I guess. Also in my mp3 player (the one that came with the phone) all the media that I have downloaded is there but all the ones that came with the phone are gone. I don't care about them but does anyone know how to get my phone to see my pictures? thanks

As it turns out, I have a spare Droid 3 (long story) that I rooted and was able to find, using an app called Root Explorer (which is merely a file explorer but with features that are useful to users with rooted phones), that app, and then open the .apk file (.apk files are Android apps that are bundled using the .zip format with a specific file structure, so they are easy to explore) to find that XML file. All (or almost all) system apk files are stored in a location on the phone called /system/app, while third party apps that you add are almost all in /data/app.How do you learn?
