[Guide] How to disable Fast Dormancy on your SIII

Sunday 24th of June 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi all,Just thought some people might like to know how to do this - if your network doesn't support fast dormancy then your S3 battery life will be reduced because of network related wake locks. Unfortunately unlike earlier Galaxy devices it is not easy to disable fast dormancy, but fortunately @lokhor from AndroidNZ has worked out how to do it (Root required folks). Check out his guide here: AndroidNZ: [At Your Own Risk] How to disable Fast Dormancy on the Galaxy S3I will port this guide to the forum itself when time permits, but it's a substantial amount of work so won't be for a little while [I think the benefits of the guide for forum users affected by the fast dormancy issue outweighs the fact that the guide isn't yet natively hosted on the forum, mods can feel free to remove if they disagree].

The Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 first came out with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread onboard, plus TouchWiz, Samsung’s custom user interface.  Not soon thereafter, Google released Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), which users of the Galaxy Note also wanted to upgraded to — and did officially, after Samsung rolled out ICS to the Galaxy Note. Some, however, prefer their Ice Cream Sandwich vanilla-flavored instead of Samsung-flavored, so they turn to AOSP-based custom ROMs for their servings.  CyanogenMod 9, based on AOSP sources for ICS, is one such custom ROM, and brings a host of improvements to the Galaxy Note, such as a leaner and snappier user interface. In this guide, you will learn how to flash CyanogenMod 9 on the Galaxy Note N7000.WarningThe instructions in this guide are intended for use with the Samsung Galaxy Note, model number GT-N7000.
