Where are my ROM Manager Backups in Android 4.2?

Wednesday 28th of November 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello, I have a rooted Nexus 7 running 4.2.1 (JOP40D). Prior to 4.2 I had Cyanogenmod 10 installed. I've been using ROM Manager (updated today to v5.0.2.5) and Titanium Backup. Everything worked fine and after running ROM Man and Titanium B, I would connect the Nexus 7 to my Dell XPS 8300 PC & copy the ROM Man backup to my desktop and then copy the entire TB folder to my PC. No problem, did it many times. Since updating to 4.2 (i know it has multi-user capabilities and some sort of SD/0 card issue....) I can run ROM Man & TB with no problem on my Nexus 7. When I connect the Nexus 7 to my PC via USB and open Windows Explorer when I go to the CWM/Backups folder or the TB folder the only files visible to my PC are from 11/17 which is BEFORE I updated to 4.2. Question: How do I access my current ROM Manager & TB folders to copy the latest backups to my PC? I have File Expert & Root Explorer (paid version) installed on my Nexus 7. If I can access the ROM Manager & TB folder from them and copy/paste someplace where my PC can see them, that would be good enough. Thanks

How to root on 4.2.2

Friday 15th of February 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have yet to see a posting on here on how to root the Nexus after the 4.2.2 update. I could be wrong so if there is one please notify me and I'll remove this posting I have found these steps from (full link you should have all the drivers so I wont post them. NOTE: Skip Steps 1, 2, 3 if you already have the files. Step 1 - Download from the Android Developers website and install with USB drivers. Step 2 - in your Nexus 7 tablet. Step 3 - Download Fastboot and extract it in the C:android-sdkplatform-tools directory. Create directory if not already there. (if you have the lastest version you should. See this ) Step 4 - and copy it to your sdcard (on the root of it. not in any folders) on your Nexus 7 tablet. Step 5 - Make sure you have backup your data as it will be removed. Then switch OFF your Nexus 7. Step 6 - Download and copy/paste it in the C:android-sdkplatform-toolss directory. Step 7 - Now go into Fastboot Mode on Nexus 7. How? Press Volume Down + Power keys for a few seconds till you see some text on the screen. This is Bootloader Mode. Step 8 - Navigate to C:andro

How: Gmail - open contact from sent email

Wednesday 31st of October 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
When I am viewing an email in Gmail app on N7, is there any way to open that contact in People from the email? In Gmail on my Win7 PC that functionality exists but was wanted to see if it was possible on my N7? The closest I have came... clicking on the recipient email address starts a new email to them... long pressing on their pre-filled email address prompts me to copy to clipboard ... then navigating to People and search/paste... But that is a lot of steps... Am I missing something obvious or is there any Gmail setting that influences this area? In the absence of this functionality, has anyone ran across an app that watches the clipboard for an email address and gives options such as "open contact", "send email" or "create new contact" etc... Thanks! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Android Central Forums

If you really like your nexus 7... - Page 2

I'm on the road a lot and before buying my Nexus 7, my personal mobile devices were a Samsung netbook and an iPod Touch. The netbook was plenty capable for what I needed, but it wasn't convenient to carry around constantly. The Touch, on the other hand, was very pocketable but the screen had so few pixels, it lacked copy/paste, and Opera would randomly crash several times a week. Enter Nexus 7. I can easily carry it around, and the screen is actually a slightly higher resolution than my aging netbook. I mainly use my Nexus 7 for email and internet, but I have also read e-books, played games, and listened to music. I was also pleasantly surprised how useful Google Now is for me when traveling. I should probably also mention my only smart phone is a work blackberry, so the Nexus 7 might not be so bloody useful in comparison for someone who

Sluggish performance, slow I/O?

Sunday 30th of September 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Over the past few days I have noticed my nexus 7 has been performing sluggishly at times. Boot up times have drastically increased for some reason. The most notable time when it feels slow is when I'm using Chrome or Firefox and trying to load a page or a link. Takes several seconds to load and isn't normal. Internet speed is fine so its not a connection issue as I'm only a few feet from my router. It literally takes ten+ seconds to load pages. I read about this problem on a thread over at xda forums and it might be due to low disk space. I have 2gb left. Read that running Androbench might show u where the slowness is occurring. Ran it and the random write speeds seemed awfully low, like 14.51 to 75 iops. Don't know how to copy and paste the results, but you can compare results against other devices, even against other Nexus 7's. So what's being on here? Had my nexus for barely 2 weeks now and already running into problems? Stock flash unrooted too. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Android Central Forums

How to open local html files in Chrome?

Tuesday 26th of November 2013 / androidforums.com
HiI am an android newbie. I bought Nexus 7 (2012) recently.I have some html files stored in my Downloads folder. I am using File Manager to access it. When I try to open the html file, I get several options with which it can be opened. But Chrome doesn't show up in that list. How to make my local html files open in Chrome? I don't mind if it doesn't open directly in Chrome. I want Chrome as one of the options there. Currently I have to first open it in FireFox, and then copy and paste the path in Chrome, which is very painful. Thanks in advance.Sreekanth
