Wait, Did Steve Jobs Give Android Too Much Credit?
Thursday 31st of March 2011
You may recall the iPad 2 launch event where Apple CEO Steve Jobs bashed Android for its limited number of applications. More specifically, Jobs claimed that Android had no more than 100 applications designed specifically for Honeycomb tablets. Now a report out of AppleInsider is claiming Jobs may have been a bit generous with the quoted figure. According to their numbers, there currently exist only 17 Honeycomb-specific applications. The same reports uses the Featured Tablet Applications tab on the Android Market web portal as a gauge for how many tablet applications actually exist for Android. They number them at 50. Did anyone bother to read the part of the heading that said ‘Featured’? If this list was all tablet apps for Android, wouldn’t they just call it Tablet Applications? What would the point of featuring anything be?Semantics aside, we find the figures these Apple folks working with to be sketchy at best. Even if an application isn’t built specifically for Honeycomb, developers have been hard at work building Honeycomb support into their application
Featured App Review: Elecont – InDepth Weather Information
Monday 05th of September 2011
There are plenty of weather apps out there, but most are too simple, or don’t offer you too many options or too much functionality, and to most people it might not matter much if they just want to see the current weather at a glance, or just want the weather widget to look pretty on the homescreen, but if you’re looking for in-depth weather information, the Elecont weather app might be just what you are looking for. Elecont has been making weather apps for a while, and they have weather apps for Windows Mobile, Android and iOS. They’ve been on Android since version 1.6.InitiationOne of the very first things that I noticed about Elecont’s weather app is that as soon as I entered the app and clicked the weather clock (sort of a clock, but with 24 hours), it already told me the weather for my location. I already had the GPS on, so that’s explains how it found my location, which was very accurate, but it also happened so fast. I don’t think I’ve seen that in any other app.The Weather ClockSpeaking of the weather clock, when you click on it, it sw

How many browsers? (and) prob with "duplicate" apps
Tuesday 15th of January 2013
Hi all.I am new to andriod phones. I just purchased a Galaxy S3.1) I have three browsers on my phone, Firefox and Opera and one I don't know the name of.... It came with the phone and it just says "Internet". Do I need three browers? My Firefox is synced to my laptop, which is nice. Or is three taking up too much space? My device Storage says 12GB and Available says 10.81GB2) I have all the most-used apps on the first page and I have emptied the other six. (Why are there 7 pages on the home page of the S3?). But all these apps are repeated under the Apps app-icon. I don't understand this. I've tried to delete them but they don't go away? ...and while I'm at it, do I need both Samsung Apps and the Play Store? Do these not serve the same function? Thanks,Frank

How many apps is too much?
Wednesday 29th of December 2010
Evo noob here. Have already d/l'ed 10 or so apps and wondered if there was a limit to the number of apps one should have before they really start bogging down the phone. 20? 50? 100? What's the most you have, and did you notice any performance dropoff once you d/l'ed a certain number? Thanks.

phone using too much data?
Thursday 19th of January 2012
Earlier today I got a message from AT&T warning me I've used 90% of my data. I have the 2GB data plan. I checked how many days I had left in my billing cycle and it's only been 4 days since my billing cycle started! Normally, I don't ever go over half of my plan, and I haven't been using it more than usual. I haven't bought any new apps either. Here's the apps I've downloaded:Tumblr, Days Left Widget, Twitter, Foursquare, Alchemy, SwiftKey X, and Pinterest.I frequently exit all my active applications using the Program Monitor widget. Is there any way I can see my data usage or somehow figure out whats been using my data?

How Many Apps is Too Much for Evo?
Wednesday 18th of May 2011
I've had a couple Sprint employees tell me that the number of apps I have on my device isn't good for the device. (Yes, i have alot) However, I have not had any of them give me any guidelines on what a "healthy" amount of apps is to have on the device. It would help if they didn' put all those useless factory installed apps on the the device.

How many apps do you have??
Friday 22nd of July 2011
I am just curious to how many apps everyone has. I currently have about 10 apps installed. What about everyone else? How many apps can stored without it really starting to affect the phones performance? 20, 30, 50 etc... Is there a certain memory requirement or something I should be looking for? I have a fear of having too many and having my phone suffer because of it. I am from blackberry which didn't have many apps worth downloading, so this is all new to me. Also how much room to SMS messages take up? I have had some converstions that are at a message count of a couple hundred. What is too much when it comes to messages?

I am aware the i phone has 20,000 apps and all that jazz! why does it seem like THIS phone needs an app of some kind to run correctly in many instances? why are there all these covert little tricks, and unknown functions that need to be spider holed and discovered! I don't want to play treasure hunt! i just want a fast, powerful, functioning smart phone that isn't a big riddle, or a big fat time stealer!!! this email pic thing is a major issue FOR ME, BUT I HAVE G MAIL SO I GUESS IT WON'T BE? Automatic update taking too much memory
Wednesday 05th of October 2011
Today's automatic update took over 20MB of my memory. I don't use any of those stock apps, so I went to Manage Apps and deleted the updates. Got my 20 Megs back. Ten minutes later my phone runs all the updates again. My 20MB is gone again. How many times are they going to send me this stuff I don't want? Anybody else unhappy?

So, How Many A2109 Users Do We Have Here So Far? - Page 8

Basically making the sdcard appear as internal and the internal storage appear as the sdcard. It seems to me like that could potentially cause some problems at some point, but I'm very new to android so I really have no idea. What do you guys think?I also found an app that will apparently do the modifications for you if you enter the locations. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....int2ext&hl=en I'm slightly
