How to format a 32GB microSD card for Nexus One and Android

Tuesday 20th of April 2010 / androinica.com
Google has acknowledged that there is an issue with Android that can create problems when people attempt to format a 32GB card on their phone. Sure, the Nexus One and many Android phones say they support up to 32GB cards, but the catch is that you have to first format the card on your computer; Android can’t do it directly from the phone. A fix for this issue will come with the next OTA update.I’ve always formatted my SD cards on my computer first and never really thought it was that big of a deal to not be able to do it on the phone. To be fair, I always have a microSD reader handy, so maybe other folks aren’t as lucky. If you’re able to load a microSD card on a Windows PC, here’s how to format the SD card.Place the microSD card into your adapter or USB reader. Then put the adapter/reader into your computer’s SDcard/USB slotWait until the AutoPlay notification pops up. Make note of the drive letter, which looks like this (the part that says “Sony Ericsson PC Software (D:)” :Close the AutoPlay window and then go to My Computer (or Computer

How to sort and load music?

Friday 12th of August 2011 / androidforums.com
Ok I have alot of songs I have had for years and want to be able to listen to them. On my old Nokia express music phone it was easy to plug it in transfer a song add it to a playlist and was done. On teh android it seems different, I have my music or sd card from the old phone in the new one, but when scrolling through them it has them arranged weird, some will be in sub folders others will be in places that shouldn't be or I have to do a search to find it all. I am wondering if I need to format the sd card with the android system as the old phone could have been different format. If so I do have some apps moved to the sd card would I lose that info and saved data from the games? I have not been able to find anything on how to organize music on teh android with a sd card. I would like to be to go to a catagory and scroll down to find a song or artist rather than spending hours having to search before I find it. I do know now its getting harder to get music and have waiting to do it the right way before using the P2P methods but have been scared off of those now. Been reading some of

external sd - Android 2.1 - MyTouch 3G Slide - Preparing SD Card mal-function - Formatted SD Card after taking out and putting back in :(

Thursday 17th of March 2011 / android.stackexchange.com
Operating System: Android 2.2Device: HTC MyTouch 3G Slide SD Card: Micro SD 8GB Sandisk card that is less than 1 year old Background: This feature formatted my working SD Card w/ all my pictures on it after i took it out and put it back into the same phone. I didn't add or delete any data from the device when i took it out... I checked the sd card on the computer and it only had 2mb of cache files on it while before it had 6gb of music and photos. I already tried mounting and unmounting the card. That doesn't help. The phone has recently been factory restored. Questions: 1) Why is Android / MyTouch3G Slide formatting my sd card? 2) How do I know if it's an sd card problem or a phone problem? 3) How do I get the card to work w/ the pictures and mp3s on there? I'm thinking maybe I should prepare the card for android somehow- with a sd card formatter Update: I recovered the files w Easeus Data Recovery, put them back on the card, and it formatted the files again. I'm thinking I should format my card for android 2.2 or mytouch3g so it accepts the pictures or put the card in while the ph

How do I format the SD Card for my Android?

Thursday 02nd of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I tried to format it on my laptop via adapter, by right clicking SD Card F: going to format, selecting FAT32, checking the quick format box, and pressing start but whenever I place it back in my phone, it won't mount. It says it's damaged. I had the same problem when I first purchased the sd card but found a link online that showed me how to format it a different way,in another location, which worked perfectly. I recently removed the sd card for something though and encountered this same problem but am unable to find that same link. It's driving me nuts! I had to import everything to my laptop to make sure I didn't lose it all. Please help

SD Card Problem with HTC MyTouch 4G

Wednesday 25th of June 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have a HTC MyTouch 4G with Android OS. Earlier today for no reason my phone suddenly pops up the error saying no SD card mounted while the SD card is in the phone. So I figured it might be the card. Took it out and popped it into my computer. Zero problems, but when I looked at my phone with the SD card still my phone is saying I have a possibly damaged SD card inserted in my phone and to format it. There is no card in it to format. Any ideas on what could be wrong and how I could possibly fix it?

How to format a SD card to use it in android phone

Sunday 06th of July 2014 / androidforums.com
Is there any specific way to format an SD card so that we can move the apps onto it? I messed with with a dozen of posts in various forums and Facebook groups regarding moving apps onto SD. I know that it's quite easy in my MOTO E if that particular dev has allowed it to be moved but some 'geeks' (I don't know what term I could use to describe them because they are different for sure) argued that formatting an SD card in a 'specific' manner could help moving a large variety of apps onto SD card. Is it true?
