Hands-on photos of Galaxy Mega 6.3 show just how huge it is

Friday 12th of April 2013 / androidauthority.com
The recently announced Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 blurs the line between smartphones and tablets. A set of hands-on images shows just how big the device is compared to a “regular” smartphone. On Thursday, Samsung took the wraps off the new Mega line, and let’s just say that, if a device ever deserved its name, it’s the Galaxy Mega 6.3.The 6.3-inch phone/tablet has already garnered a fair share of hyperbole and epithets, with bloggers and tech journalists particularly favoring terms like “monstrous” and “gargantuan”. However, without an etalon to compare it, it can be hard to visualize how large the Mega 6.3 really is.We’ve already seen the Galaxy Mega 6.3 put aside the Note 2 thanks to an early review from Ubergizmo. The stylus-equipped Note 2 seems puny in comparison to its boisterous new sibling, even if the Note 2 is, at 5.5-inch, a very large phone by most standards. If the Mega 6.3 dwarfs the generously sized Note 2, how does it look aside a regular smartphone, like the Galaxy S4, which features a display of just 5 inches? We don’t have to wonder anymore, thanks to

Yet another leaked Sprint device, this time the "Galaxy Reverb"

Monday 23rd of July 2012 / androidspin.com
Doesn’t it look like I am starting to “make stuff up” by now? Yes, yet another leaked Sprint has risen to the surface.By the next couple of months, the basic layout of the average Sprint retailer will probably involve an underground storage facility for all the frekin’ phones coming out! I necessarily think that it is not matter how many different phones a carrier offers, but how good just “one” device really is among the rest of the competitors.Anyway, a recent tweet from “EV Leaks” has revealed the Galaxy Reverb, a low range, wallet-friendly device. The device is not impressive by any standards, but it does have that “Galaxy look” to it.Here are some of the specs for the Galaxy Reverb:A 1.4GHz single-core processor768MB of RAM4GB of internal memory4″ WVGA touchscreen, at “480 x 800″ pixels5MP rear, and 1.3MP front-facing camera’sAnd a 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich buildAccording to Android Authority, the phone will likely be placed in the “$50-100″ category, under a two-year contract of cours

Another Injunction on Samsung Devices. This Time the Galaxy Tab 7.7 in the EU

Tuesday 24th of July 2012 / androidspin.com
Apple has secured another injunction on a Samsung device. Today a German court issued an EU wide injunction on the Galaxy Tab 7.7 but denied the injunction on the Galaxy Tab 10.1N. While this will cause some to be upset, as Apple seems to be out to get Samsung, some should take another look. What this really means, is that Samsung needs to get their act in gear and start designing original devices. No other company has been issued an injunction based on an Apple patent besides Samsung, and this is I think the 4th one. Every other manufacturer has shown that it is possible to make a tablet that is original and does not look like an iPad. Hell, Microsoft really stepped up and Surface looks nothing like any tablet out there today. This just goes to show you how bad Samsung is at designing their own devices. A 7.7-inch Galaxy tablet got ruled it looked like a 10″ iPad. The same judge ruled that the 10″ Galaxy tablet did not look like an iPad. Samsung was so unoriginal with their 7-inch tablet, that the same judge was able to make those two rulings.Samsung… please. You a

Galaxy S4 Design - Page 3

Friday 26th of April 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have to say that I agree to a large degree. I think the S4 is a good looking phone, certainly. Plastics can be premium, and everyone comments on how light it feels. Let's face it, you're not going to be unhappy buying one, are you? But I do also think that, unlike the iPhone and HTC, it does just look like a piece of electronics, where the other two look more like a piece of, well, jewellery I suppose. The S4 is a geeks wet dream where the HTC is likely to be seen in the hands of Victoria Beckham (although poor David probably has to use Samsung's). It does look better, no question, but that doesn't mean the S4 looks bad. The only other thing is that, for me, it's boring because I've already got the S3 and it is so similar. That's why I have an HTC coming... Sent from my Nexus 7 using Android Central Forums

Rooting a Virgin Samsung Galaxy S2 (on a Mac)

Sunday 21st of April 2013 / androidforums.com
I'm having trouble finding information on how I can root my Virgin S2 on my Mac. It doesn't look like there's a forum dedicated to this specific phone/carrier here, so I'm not sure where to look. I was messing around with Heimdall but couldn't figure it out, and couldn't find a kernel to flash that corresponded with my carrier and model. Does anyone know I can root my phone? Thanks!EDIT: Never mind, looks like this is what I was looking for. Just hope everything works on my virtual machine Windows.ANOTHER EDIT: Alright, doesn't look like my virtual Windows can access my USB ports. Does anyone know if there's a way to root this on my Mac?ANOTHER ANOTHER EDIT: Rooted my phone using this. Worked perfectly, super easy!

Finally, is this how the Samsung Galaxy S3 will look like?

Friday 27th of April 2012 / androidauthority.com
Are you ready for another dose of Samsung Galaxy S3-related news?We know you are, especially since this latest leaked image is a possible picture of Samsung's actual flagship device. We've seen before several images of the alleged Samsung Galaxy S3, but they showed test devices, wearing fake shells designed to conceal the phone's actual appearance. This isn't the case with this image right here, which might bring us the closest to knowing how the Galaxy S3 looks like before the big unveiling next Thursday. The alleged picture of the Samsung Galaxy S3 was sent by a tipster to PhoneArena, which then generously shared it with the rest of the world. As always, we’re not going to say it’s the absolute real deal until Samsung says so, but the image does bear a strong resemblance to yesterday’s device sketch of the Samsung GT-i9300, the presumed model number for the Galaxy S3.How does the sketch match up with the latest leaked picture? Sam Mobile has done some mock-ups of the Galaxy S3 based on yesterday’s diagram. The result, as you can see for yourself, does lo

Android Forums - View Single Post - Do I need galaxy s3 windows 7 drivers?

Tuesday 28th of August 2012 / androidforums.com
Ya, the posters above mean well but are CLUELESS.They either do not have any experience with the S3 model we have or are just reading from somewhere ie a book or ?.It must be experience with a different model cell phone. So no our USA Gphone S3s do not have those settingsBTW you must have the Verizon version of S3 I have the Sprint version ie locked, no SIM card.As the video linked below states (BTW she does not look like jail bait to me and I would not shy away from her just because of her young looks), this works with the international does, not the US version. Depending on the Kernal. It has only been tested on the International Galaxy S III so far, but it could very well be compatible with other devices with similar configurations. Link to download the apk app is here but first read all the post and links. The most current ver should work with our US phones. But now to learn how to install apk files/apps. ( always a never ending learning curve, huh?)From experience ..It can not be done! Unless you follow and do what is on the video below. Why? Cause Samsung changed from UMS to MTPu

What Google Glass HDR images look like

Wednesday 05th of June 2013 / geek.com
It’s not every day that a camera gets an upgrade that enables features as significant as HDR, but that’s exactly what happened with the XE6 update for Google Glass. If you don’t have Glass to try out for yourself, here’s what high dynamic range (HDR) images look like when taken with Google’s headset. There are two main things you need to know about XE6. First, the new camera software for Glass does a much better job with catching realistic colors and being able to handle bright lights. Second, the HDR captures do exactly what they are supposed to do, capturing multiple exposures and stitching them together into a better photo. The gallery above will give you some examples of just how nice Glass’ HDR shots are.Given the current state of smartphone cameras and today’s point-and-shoots, there’s very little expectation that Glass is going to swoop in and be all things to all people when it comes to on-the-go photography. Basically, the headset’s 5MP sensor isn’t going to compete with the HTC One or the Galaxy S4 anytime soon, b
