Does Upgrading To Jelly Bean Erase All Data? If Yes, How Do I Back Up ALL My Files? (w/o root)

Monday 13th of August 2012 / androidforums.com
I didn't get the Jelly Bean upgrade yet but when I do, will it erase all or most of my data? The ones I'm worried about most are my stock music app playlists, my games, my apps and my settings. If upgrading to Jelly Bean erases my data what app should I use to backup all my data WITHOUT rooting my device?

How can I speed up my phone?

Saturday 10th of November 2012 / droidforums.net
I'm on ICS 4.0.4, and am using the latest GO Launcher. My phone is slow. Not sure what did it, if it's the ICS or the GO Launcher. But I do want to keep my same functionality. How can I speed up my phone...er, clear it out? Is there some MSCONFIG-like utility I can use? Can I clear junk out? What would be the best way to back up texts, data and contacts?

4.0 ice cream sandwich - My Android phone screen is un-usable, how do I transfer all my data to a new phone?

Saturday 09th of March 2013 / android.stackexchange.com
My current phone (Samsung Galaxy POP) running Andoid 2.2 has all its data including contacts and messages stored in the SD card + SIM card. However the touch screen of that phone has been damaged and so the phone is unusable now on it's own. I have purchased a new phone (Xperia SL) online which which runs Android 4.0 and does not have an SD card slot, it only has an internal memory. My question is, how do I transfer all my data including contacts and text messages from my old phone to my new phone. Since my old phone is practically unusable, I'll have to connect it to my PC and prob back up my data and thereafter transfer it to the new phone. Could somebody suggest me some resources which will guide me on how to backup my data between phones by using the PC as a medium. I tried looking up on Google for help and could not find any good solutions for this issue.

gmail - Should I reset my phone and how do I back up my phone's data?

Saturday 12th of November 2011 / android.stackexchange.com
I've got a new Telstra Smart-Touch Next Generation and I logged on to my G-mail account so I could use the calender and other apps. After a while I realised that my credit was being eaten up bit by bit, a few cents an hour I think. I thought it must be my G-mail and I tried to log out but didn't know how. So, I went to my G-mail account on my Mac and deleted it. Now my phone says that I've entered an incorrect password and wants me to type it in, and most importantly my credit is still being used up and I don't know what to do. I was thinking that maybe I should reset my phone but I don't want to lose my contacts, messages and apps.Should I reset my phone? Can I backup my phone's data beforehand if I do this?

Before Rooting - How Do I Back Up My Calendar?

Sunday 08th of May 2011 / androidforums.com
I'm ready to give it a shot but:I'm using 1.56 and the calendar originally supplied with the phone (the HTC one?). For some reason Google won't sync with any of my historical calendar entries that I have on the phone (and I have a lot!). Google does pick up my contact list though, so those are saved. Now, all this got me thinking "how can I backup my calendar" for obvious reasons even before I root? I went to the Sprint store to ask about calendar backup only and they were no help; the person there said I must use a different calender, which should import the data from the one on the phone, and THEN I can export to something that will save my entries......he suggested "Business Pro Calendar". Searching here and xda = no luck for my question. I am assuming the calendar entry info must be stored somewhere on my phone in a file on the SD card? Is Titanium Backup the answer? Is all this really complicated or am I missing something so simple that's it's obvious to others but not me?! Section 30

How do I set up my phone to usa data instead of minutes?

Thursday 10th of February 2011 / androidforums.com
How do I setup my phone to use data instead of voice minutes? I am sort of a newb and reading a guide is sort of like reading a forgein language to me. I also heard that people that got this to work succsessfully heard the sound coming from their back speaker. So is there anyway to do this? I also cant root my phone because the I cant get the drivers for my usb to work. I tried z4root but I have no idea if it actually rooted it or not. If someone wants to post here or pm me their IM so they can walk me through this it would be really really appreciated.

How do I backup all data to my PC from the SD before I partition it? It's recommended to partition the SD before I flash the asCend2 ROM, but I wanna keep the data that's on the phone.
