Gyroscope appears not to be working?

Friday 14th of October 2011 / android.net
Whenever i go into the calibration for the accelerometer and gyroscope, the blue dot will move around for the accelerometer but not the gyroscope. Also, all of the auto screen rotation functions have stopped working. No matter what i try, the screen will not flip when turned sideways in any app or menu. Any ideas on causes or fixes? and could it be hardware or software? I have been into the *#0*# menu and tested sensors and i do get readings from the gyroscope, and its self test says it passed. Its also displaying graphically that it is getting the correct readings... im stumped...

gyroscope calibrate option not available

Tuesday 05th of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I previously had no problem with automatic screen rotate, but now it does not work. Maybe due to a S4 software update.Under Settings, display, screen, I have ticked auto rotate. Note that Under Settings, Input and Control, Motions and gestures , I do not see "gyroscope calibration option", so route cause may be gyroscope not functioning.

Possible gyroscope or orientation sensor problem

Saturday 03rd of May 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
OK, so I downloaded the Magicplan , because I need to measure my apartment. The app's playstore page says it only runs correctly if there is a "full gyroscope" on the device, and suggests installing to check. According to Sensor Box, all's good with the gyroscope, I think. When I tap "gyroscope" here's a sort of cube-graphic and this will rotate after a fashion as I move or rotate the device, although I'm not sure it's doing so correctly on all three axes. It's difficult to tell, though, and any apparent deficiency here may be merely a display or calibration issue. More unsettling is what happens when I use the orientation sensor tool, only one of the three spirit levels works. For some reason, I'm not able to add an inline image here, but here's an illustration by link. If I hold the phone horizontally, the spirit level near the left margin in this picture works as expected, but the others don't. It's not that the bubbles don't move at all, they do. But instead of rolling around the "viewfinders" as they should, they'll move a tiny bit, and then jum

Gyroscope Sensor Calibration in CM11

Wednesday 07th of May 2014 / androidforums.com
I seem to be having a problem with the Gyroscope Sensor on my phone. I recently flashed CM11 (which is great btw) and noticed that when turning the phone on its side the screen doesn't rotate until I go about another 45deg. To test things I downloaded Android Sensor Box. On the Gyroscope Sensor it seems to be registering 45deg for every 90deg of rotation, so turning the phone upside down (180deg) only rotates the box 90deg. This isn't a huge problem, but it is annoying and I can't find any apps that calibrate at the system level. I found and tried a few Terminal commands, but they didn't help either. Just hoping someone on here had some advice/experience.I will say now that I enabled all 4 orientations in the CM settings.
