Rooting the LG Optimus S with software version LS670ZVC If you have the new software version LS670ZVD, this guide won't work! Please see this post! For those wanting to take the shortcut: http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-o...6-updated.html Big Fat Disclaimer:1) Make sure you read this guide in it's entirety before attempting root.2) If you need clarification on any of the steps outlined in this guide, ask before experimenting!3) As with all Android modifications/tweaks, there is ALWAYS a risk of bricking your device. Make sure you understand all of the steps in this guide before attempting to root your device.4) Last but not least, I am not responsible for bricks due to your mistakes! You are performing these steps at your own risk. READ THIS FIRST!!! If you accepted the OTA update (didn't use the LGMobile update tool), this guide will not work as-is. You will first need to force-flash the previous version of the software (V9), then update to VC using an alternative method. Instructions for doing this can be found here. If your phone came with ZVC (or ZVD), this also applies t

[How-To] Automated Rooting of LS670ZVD/ZVH/ZVJ

Wednesday 11th of April 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
drewwalton19216801 for the ZVD rooting writeup, zefie for Xionia CWMA, iBowToAndroid for ZVD installer, Revolutionary for the exploit, Denys Vlasenko for busybox, ChainsDD for su This guide is for achieving a rooted ZVJ Android for the LG Optimus S using a 95% automated script. It will install the ZVJ update, persistent root, busybox, and Xionia CWMA Recovery. This assumes you are ALREADY ROOTED on your existing ROM If you are already on ZVJ (but not ROOTED) then you need to first revert to ZVD using [this thread] then use Option A - Install Root ZVD/ZVH, which is a fully automated root for ZVD/ZVH. This download also contains a 100% automated script to root ZVD/ZVH. Instructions (if needed) can be found in [this thread] Ignore the download instructions in that thread as this package supersedes that one. Basically if you are not rooted on your existing ZVD/ZVH ROM choose Option A - Install Root ZVD/ZVH prior to Option B - Install Root ZVJ See these threads for alternate/past rooting guides: ZVD/ZVH [OptiAuto] ZVC/ZVD [GingerSnap] [GingerBreak] - ZV8/ZV9 [] For rooting ZVJ y

[How-To] Manual Rooting of LS670ZVJ from Mac OS X

Monday 21st of May 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
This guide is a walkthrough of sfhub's excellent guide from a Mac user new to Android rooting and flashing. I'm assuming rudimentary knowledge of UNIX terminals. If you don't know how to Code: cd or Code: ls , go look that up real quick. A bit of background, I got my Optimus S a little under a year ago running software version ZVD. At the time, it worked great compared to the dumbphone it replaced and became my new favorite piece of technology. Enter the dreaded ZVH update. As many around these forums know, around Christmastime in 2011, Sprint and LG teamed up to release an update to the Optimus S software. Why? The Optimus S was still running Android 2.2 Froyo while most devices were on Android 2.3 Gingerbread or later. As the consumers begged for Gingerbread, LG and Sprint rushed out an update. This update was awful. It broke a lot of features on the phone and made many customers angry. I regretted updating, and I regretted putting my girlfriend's phone through the update as well. This April, the ZVJ update was released, fixing most if not all of the problems the ZVH update cau

ZVC vs. ZVH and other questions

Thursday 05th of January 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi, I'm looking into rooting my phone and I have a couple of questions I was wondering if anyone could help me with. 1) Most of the guides say they are for ZVH or ZVD. My phone is ZVC. Can someone point me to a clear easy guide on how to root ZVC?2) Once I root, is there a way to back up my ZVC install in case I want to go back to it? I saw some people recommending I OTA update to ZVD, but I want the ability to go back to the install I have right now. 3) Do I need to upgrade at all to ZVD in order to install a custom gingerbread ROM or can I do it straight from ZVC? Are there any benefits to updating to ZVD first?4) Will installing a custom ROM delete all my apps? If so, how would you recommend backing them up? I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this so I appreciate any help you can offer! Thanks!

Problem While Upgrading to ZVD

Wednesday 06th of June 2012 / androidforums.com
I was attempting to upgrade my phone to ZVD because I really wanted ROM Number Two (#2). I use this guide: Guide: Update to ZVDAlmost at the end of the upgrade, the upgrade program said to reboot the phone. I did, it turned off, but it wouldn't turn on. And now my phone refuses to turn on.Is there anything that can be done here? Or did I screw myself over?
