Google Translate text-to-speech not working

Sunday 21st of November 2010 / android.stackexchange.com
In Google Translate application, when I try to install text-to-speach, It gives me a box saying: Text-to-speach requires: SVOX voice data: {disabled button}Installed{/disabled button} Text-to-speach extended: {button}Click to install{/button}On clicking, it goes to the market, where the search fails: There are no matches in the android market for the search:pname:com.google.ttsI use x10 mini, which had 1.6 earlier, so I thought like many other apps, this one requires higher versions. But now it's upgraded to 2.1 and still the same issue.Has anyone else had this issue? Is this a bug in Translate? Is there a work-around?

Text to speech not turning off after upgrade to 2.2

Monday 09th of May 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
I had text to speech turned on for caller id when my samsung facinate was at 2.1. Then I upgraded to 2.2. I then decided to change to a normal ringtone instead of voice. My phone indicated that driving mode was not on. I tried turning it on and then off no luck. I think having this set and then changing to 2.2 has got this setting stuck on my phone. I am trying to avoid a reset. Please let me know if you have any idea.

Galaxy S3 with 4.1 - Google Now/search text to speech not working

Wednesday 16th of January 2013 / androidforums.com
Just ran the updated to the latest version of Android. I was quite looking forward to playing around with the new Google search voice functionality. I have no problem getting it to recognize my voice and perform commands however the app doesn't talk to me. It always displays the information on my screen. Also, does anyone know of a way to default Google Now to open instead of S-voice when pressing the talk button on a BT headset? Thanks!

Google's Text-To-Speech App Gains Support For Dutch, Polish, Russian, And Indian-English In 3.1 Update

Tuesday 27th of May 2014 / feedproxy.google.com
Google's Text-to-Speech app isn't exactly one that grabs headlines, but it's certainly useful for those who rely on it. Today it gets a little more useful as Google has added a handful of languages for its speech output support. The latest update adds support for selecting and speaking text in Dutch, Polish, and Russian, and better support for at least some dialects of English spoken in India has been added as well. Today's update brings the total language support for TTS up to 13, including US/UK/Indian English and Spain/US Spanish. Aside from Korean and the regional dialects, the current TTS options are very focused on European languages, so it's safe to say that Google has a long way to go to further worldwide support. There is no dedicated app in the drawer for Google's TTS - to change your output settings, go to the main Settings menu, then Language and Input.
