The phone I bought is rooted....what does that mean to me?

Tuesday 03rd of May 2011 / android.net
Sorry in advance for all the questions.....I'm not even sure this is in the right section....I'm completely new to the whole android system (I just got a xoom a couple weeks ago) and the phone I bought and am waiting on is rooted. What does that mean to me? Is there anything I can do to screw up the phone? Will the phone be impeded any way by this? Can I accidentally "un root" or harm anything when I get updates? Thanks!

What does Google talk authentication failed mean?

Tuesday 27th of December 2011 / androidtablets.net
I just recently bought a 7" 2.2 Android tablet, I really wanted a app so I went to the android market and signed into Google and after I tried to install the app a note popped up saying that Google talk authentication failed, and it would not let me download any apps? Is there a solution to this problem or anything I can do because I would really love to have some apps. ~Andrea

Tuesday 12th of March 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
So I disabled the number to get into my phone settings and I ran a ping test to make sure everything was cool. Everything passed EXCEPT for the ping ip addr test. Now, what on earth does this mean. Does my phone have a issue. Because I'm able to get on my network, call, and text fine. But I want to make sure everything working fine. Any ideas? Note: I have a nexus 4 with tmobile prepaid 4G plan

16 Gigs but what does that mean to me?

Tuesday 10th of November 2009 / droidforums.net
Hello. I just got my droid(s) two days ago and I have never been happier. I can't believe that right out of the box this phone works like it's supposed to without hours and hours of tweaking. I am coming from an Windows mobile Omnia and I imagine I must have spent upwards to 80 hours tweaking, modding and just messing with things to get it running the way I needed it to. Droid - Intuitive smart and tweak free !!!!!!!! So my first question: 16GB of storage but what does that mean? Are apps, pictures, cache etc. downloaded there? What about temporary internet and anything else that would fill up and freak out a windows phone eventually? Is this OS smart enough to handle cleanup and storage without any hand holding? The storage card seems to be in the background but I don't see any settings pointing data to it. If my internal memory fills will it default to the card or how does that work. Trying to learn how this OS works!!! Thanks in advance and I am SO HAPPY I have a reason to be here!!! D

Google talk authentication failed!!

Thursday 26th of May 2011 / androidforums.com
Ok guys ever since I did this Remove main Google account from Android without doing a factory reset. with my wifes phone. My phone (where the original NanDroid came from) has been saying this: Google talk authentication failed!! It did it once on hers then it stopped. Then it kept doing it on mine. So on hers I uninstalled Google Talk and I put the Nandroid back on my phone. That seemed to work. Then it started up again... Google talk authentication failed!! Upset Much!!! Now once you click the notificatin it then pops up a box that says this. Authentication error Google talk failed to login. if this is a google apps account, confirm that chat service is enabled for this account. Please help!! ***EDIT*** I cant download apps and she can!!!

google talk authentication failed

Wednesday 10th of August 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
I'm having problem login into my google talk chat account on my galaxy SII. so far everything had been working fine, I was able to chat with my friends w/o any incidents until today. when I try to log back in the google talk chat appt just reads "Signing in..." but nothing more, then like a minute or two I see a white triangle with an exclamation sign at the notification area (upper left) and the message "Google Talk authentication failed". I dontknow that is going on. The error reads: Authentication Error"Google Talk failed to login. If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that Chat service is enabled for this account" then ==> two soft buttoms either: Retry or Cancel Is anyone else having this same type of problem on their google talk chat app?

Juice defender 1.13x. What does that mean?

Monday 26th of July 2010 / androidforums.com
Does that mean it's using 13% less battery that it would without juice defender? Is there a way to translate that into hours if that's the case? I started out w/ Juice defender being 1.52x after 5 hours of having it installed and now it's down to 1.13x. What exactly does that mean? Also today I was in an area that had wifi. I don't use wifi much, but when I turned my phone on wifi was already enabled. It must have been searching while the phone was off? Also I have beautiful wifi widget on my home screen. That's normally red because I don't use it much at all, however I noticed that it was green even when I wasn't near a place where I usewifi. Is it constantly searching for wifi and won't that drain my battery faster? Is there a way to configure that?tx, moto droid bb 0.4, chevy 1.2Ghz ULV
